  1. Hi Qas,Your speed is greater at higher alititude, but because the air is less dense the indicated airspeed is lower. IAS is what you see inside the aircraft as that's what's critical to things like stall and overspeed conditions, it's effectively a measure of the volume of airflow over the wings: too much and you break stuff, too little and you cannot sustain level flight. On your PMDG you will see that somewhere, probably on the ND, groundspeed is displayed. If you watch it in zero wind conditions you will see that 250 knots IAS at 39,000 feet gives a much higher groundspeed than 250 knots at 10,000 feet.Hope this helps.
  2. >>Try the brown cockpit patch, it solved the CTDs for me.>>Where exactly might I find such a patch? Here you go:http://www.coolsky.no/super80/download/download.htm
  3. My Captain Sim CL-130 seems to have a bit of a problem - full-throttle does not move it! It will sit there grinding away, rocking on the waves but not actually moving forward. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this?
  4. Try the brown cockpit patch, it solved the CTDs for me.
  5. I went for the Flight1 Super 80, as I couldn't make the mental leap between the
  6. That's the kind of info I was after, thanks.
  7. Alex,Sorry I meant where does the Flight1 product sit - I understand that everyone is saying Maddog 2006 is the "mutt's nuts" (to use an English colloquialism) and on a par with LDS etc., but I'm not sure how far off the Flight 1 Super 80 is yet.Cheers.
  8. But where would you say the Super 80 sits in that pantheon? System wise is it the level of the Feelthere 737s, or more or less? I'm trying to figure out what level I actually want (I already have PMDG 747 and LDS 767 and feelthere 737s, and like them all, though LDS is my favourite). Thanks for the opinions so far.
  9. Hey All,I was wondering how these two stack up relative to one another, i.e. what does Maddog 2006 have that the Super 80 doesn't to justify the fairly big price gap? Thanks in advance!
  10. Digital Aviation's Dornier 27 is fantastic, get it from Flight1.com
  11. I think if you saw the progress bars going then it's installed and you don't need to worry.
  12. >Greetings All, I was wondering if someone makes a Garmin GPS>to use with addon A/C.I really enjoy flying jets by hand but I>loose my way in the PMDG and LDS jets without a Nav system.Any>recommendations ?>Thanks & Best regards>AndrewThe RealityXP stuff is well worth a look, but you should really read the manuals for those two jets so you can get the best out of the FMC systems in them. Once you've got them down it's very very hard to get lost ever again! If you're nervous about them try joining a good virtual airline which will help with a) friendly people; and :( real world flight plans so you can see how the FMC's work in practice. BA virtual is who I fly with, and I'd recommend them.
  13. That might be true if it didn't appear that you were the only person upset, but as it is it looks more like personal axe being ground than the general consumer mould.
  14. I think you're being harsh there IMO. If two companies are developing competing products there's no way you'd expect one to sit back, stay silent, and let the other gain all the sales without even mentioning what you had in the pipeline.Sometimes it seems there's just a little too much negativity flying around these discussion boards, again, IMO.
  15. OK Jim, I'll give that a go. Do you mean from scratch though, or just the latest service update?
  16. Hi Jim,I had a chance to take some shots tonight showing a default plane and shift-z. There's still an inconsistency I'm afraid:http://img118.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fsscr005nr0.jpghttp://img329.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fsscr004oc1.jpghttp://img102.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fsscr003tw9.jpghttp://img329.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fsscr002tn2.jpghttp://img260.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fsscr001ky8.jpghttp://img115.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fsscr009ws7.jpgI can't figure out how to place links in the forum, sorry! Any ideas? Thanks,Mark
  17. Hi,This morning I was flying in the LDS 767, and noticed this:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/169037.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/169038.jpgThe wind reported by ASRadar is different to that reported by the 767, and I can't see why this would be so. This is above my suppression altitude by the way. It's probably not a big deal, but it stuck out as odd this morning!Cheers,Mark
  18. Thanks to everyone who's chipped in. I think I probably won't go with the big iron for this particular area ;)I have the Do 27 already and it's great, but my eye has been caught by the scout package...
  19. What would you say is the ideal aircraft for exploring the team's great gift to us all? Can be freeware or payware. Thanks in advance for your opinions.
  20. Hi Adam,I played around a little with wind direction and things, and in the CanUK version I can't get cleared to anything except 16/33 (and 16 seems favoured over 33 here), even with a 16kt wind straight down the other runway. When I deactivated it and tried with the default scenery it did assign me 25 correctly, just looked awful! ;)Also, another minor thing I noticed:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/168226.jpgLooks like the some student pilot is a bit iffy on parking, or has taken a real fancy to my Cessna!Again though, great scenery, and your work is much appreciated :)
  21. Fantastic airport, thanks very much to the CanUK team for their hard work!I have one minor question though: Is runway 25 ever used? Last night there was a 20 knot wind from 239, but tower insisted I use 16. It was actually quite fun landing my Do27 sideways like that, but I wondered if they were just being sadists or they had a good reason... ;)
  22. http://www.pspanels.co.uk/payware_projects.htmBargain price, looks good, but no FMC. Depends what you're after, but worth a look I think.
  23. I haven't bought any of Iris's recent releases, but my previous experience says Alphasim are a shade ahead, but it's close.
