  1. I can't access P3D's forum for the past 4-5 hours, so I'll ask here: Should I decide to upgrade to P3Dv5.4, is it worth upgrading Content and Scenery or just do the Client? I have so many addons (a/c and scenery) that would take me ~80 hours to uninstall and reinstall, if that is necessary moving up to 5.4. If I don't have to do that when only upgrading the 5.4 Client, how about those installed inside the main P3D folder, such as PMDG a/c? This is what has kept me on 5.3, thus far. I'm just thinking ahead in the event I can't isolate the electrical gremlin.
  2. No, I'm not sure it is FSUIPC. But, it is a starting place to troubleshoot. I'm in the process of saving event log files right after the incident occurs (only once so far) and will compare several logs and John Dowson also offered to review them to help determine if there is any evidence of causation. As far as attaching files, I don't see an option for that, only a link to a host for viewers to download the file, if that is what you mean. I know some forums have the option to attach/insert a file, but as I said, I don't see that option here.
  3. Well, after one uneventful flight, it happened again. @Bob Scott - I am pasting a copy of the jet.ini FSUIPC aircraft profile. Please let me know if you see anything suspicious. Imho, I don't think anything is the culprit herein. Looking this over, I realize it was created from the option of create a new profile based on an existing profile, so there are prop pitch, mixture & buttons for TrackIR5 that I use in my GA a/c. It probably wouldn't hurt to remove those for the jets. Comments welcome.
  4. I thought so, too, but usually when the generators trip, I only have the throttle cracked enough to maintain taxi speed and use the tiller on occasion. So it is only axis and mouse look movement taking place. I'm waiting for it to happen again to take the following steps provided by John Dowson from the FSUIPC forum post: immediately (i.e. before trying to recover from it or doing anything else) go into FSUIPC's logging tab and click the New Log button to start a new log file. Then find your FSUIPC6.1.log file and rename and save that somewhere. Once you have 3 or 4 of these log files, you can examine them to see if you can see any similar events occurring just before you get the issue. Hopefully it won't occur any more, but if it should, I will do my best to track down the cause and post the results.
  5. Well, the problem persists. occurred at the start of taxi in the CS 757-200. I forgot to start the FSUIPC event logging window so I do not know what happened, event wise. I will have to remember to turn that option on and keep it on for a while. I'll be able to fly another flight tomorrow morning, so will have to wait and see.
  6. Great news, I have not had an issue during 2 flights since deleting it (FSUIPC.ini). @vonmar - per your request, here is the content of the FSUIPC.ini that I deleted/removed from FSUIPC folder:
  7. I did, and John Dowson was very helpful. Hopefully it was caused by a change I made within the .ini file. Time will tell. I am going to run the FSUIPC Event Logging window, keeping it open during the flight to monitor for possible issue(s). Thanks.
  8. @Sparkrite - Quick, post-flight update: I just checked the FSUIPC.log from the above test, and it was much, much cleaner & leaner than the one posted above. Hopefully this is an indication that the issue has been resolved. Time will tell. Here is the link to the latest FSUIPC log file: https://www.mediafire.com/file/v6r34189y57iw34/FSUIPC_20231103.log/file Thanks!
  9. Ok, I deleted the FSUIPC.ini and let it rebuild after running P3D. Started a test flight and no problems encountered. Fingers crossed this solved the issue for good. I posted in P3D forums regarding engine oil data based on a request to compare data for possible causal relationship. I can't get the image to appear, perhaps due to it being linked from Mediafire, so I will list the comparison data taken after engine starts just prior to taxi: His engine oil readings for comparison: Oil Pressure: L - 33, R - 32 Oil Temp: L - 73, R - 72 Oil Qty: L - 73, R - 79 My readings taken after engines were started (R first, the L): Oil Pressure: L - 31, R - 30 Oil Temp: L - 96, R - 99 Oil Qty: L - 74, R - 79 Other than temp, they are almost identical, my engines had been running for a couple of minutes, but I'm not sure about his, my guess is that it was taken right after engine start before complete warmup took place. Anyway, I don't think there is an issue here, so most likely (fingers crossed) FSUIPC related. I don't have time to make a full fight today, but will tomorrow and will report back upon completion. Thanks.
  10. Won't have the chance to test it out until tomorrow (Friday) morning.
  11. You are reading too much into it. It happens always during taxi - in other words, that is the location of the aircraft when it happens, all the time at that point. It WAS happening every time with all other aircraft and I thought I had it solved for the pmdg 737ngxu, but it happened again AFTER that post, which makes it intermittent - AFTER that post. Why are you making such a big deal out of interpretation of that? Let's move forward and try to determine WHY it is happening.
  12. Yes, it was, just worded differently, and then it reoccurred just recently after the initial post(s):
  13. @newtie - To do Client repair, should I just run that option and not have to do anything with my addons, or other precautions to take? This is something to seriously consider. @Sparkrite - Yes, i am running FSUIPC6 licensed version. I did activate the event logging option and the log is really a mess. Perhaps I can attach so someone who is familiar with FSUIPC log details can decipher. I was just thinking about removing the fsuipc.ini and letting it rebuild, but I have a Thrustmaster T16000 HOTAS stick and throttle set that I have all of the axis and buttons programmed. I would have to redo all of that or perhaps copy/paste from the fsuipc.ini backup? FSUIPC log file link: https://www.mediafire.com/file/732t9bpnd8lnnvw/FSUIPC6.log/file
  14. Indeed I do, it's the Nightmare at 20,000 ft section where John Lithgow kept looking out the window at the gremlin who was wrecking havok on the engine and freaked out and had a meltdown on the aircraft.
  15. I'm not going to uninstall any a/c at this point, as it is not the PMDG a/c at fault, it is happening to all of my addon a/c - PMDG, Capt Sim, QualityWings. Something is taking (or trips) the aircraft's engine generators off line which in turn quickly causes systems & avionics to shut down due to lack of sufficient power. That is what must be solved. Uninstalling an aircraft won't solve the problem, imho.
  16. I have been experiencing quite the gremlin lately in my P3Dv5.3 setup with all addon jetliners. In my PMDG 737-800 ngxu, while taxiing to runway, all of a sudden, the engine generators are tripped and go offline. Fortunately, the 737 's systems aren't as power hungry so they stay alive long enough for me to reset the engine generator switches and full power is restored. I only then have to reset autobrake, yaw damper, and efb, and continue taxi. The remainder of my flight has been uneventful. This does not happen every time, but at least 90% of the time. With my other liners (PMDG777, QW787, CS757/767) everything shuts down and I can't restart the aircraft and have to exit P3D. Something is causing the engine generators to go offline - that is what must be solved. I have ruled out RC4.3 & smartCARS3. I don't think ActiveSky P3D would cause it but will try a flight without to be sure. I do not have failures turned on in my a/c or in P3D in the vehicles sub menu. It is a real head scratcher. I've posted over on the P3D forum but am not getting any knowledgeable replies thus far. I would appreciate any ideas as to what to check for possible clues. Kindest regards, Glenn W. / beechcaptain
  17. KONT is the next scenery purchase on my to do list!
  18. Yes, that is my assumption, too. Lots of airports to activate, as I have a ton, and only activate those in the region of my flight. Quite a bit of work on my part, but worth the effort. Cheers
  19. @RayProudfoot I hope you can easily answer this for me. My memory is lacking for the moment and I would like to know if I need to activate all of my airport sceneries (I use Lorby's Addon Manager) before I run makerunway.exe to update the database in Radar Contact 4.3 after adding a new airport? I seem to remember this is necessary as deactivated scenery will be skipped during the makerunway process. Please advise. Kindest regards, Glenn
  20. As mentioned after this puzzling post by Doug47, RC4 does a great job of vectoring and if you fail to comply with altitude and/or heading assigned, you will get scolded and told to report to the big kahuna upon arrival at destination. Bear in mind, RC4 was created by two chaps who had a ton of atc experience in real life, if memory serves me correctly. The amount of realism included in RC4 is significant, imho.
  21. I have Radar Contact 4, PF3 and Pro ATC-X. I prefer Radar Contact 4, as it is easier to set up for my airline flights and works very well with my setup. I use PFPX or Simbrief to compile my flight plans, which contain respective SID & STAR waypoint data, so in effect, RC4 is able to keep up with SIDs and STARs on a respective route until vectoring for setup for final approach. I always select/check the Notams boxes in the RC4 flight setup screen to allow me to get set up on the proper course/heading for the SID on departure and to make sure I am clear of any terrain obstacles during my descent into destination. All in all, RC4 is the easier and cheaper (free) atc program to use for fsx/p3d pilots! I also use AIG for my ai a/c,. too.
  22. Maybe I misunderstood op's question. With a navigraph subscription and charts app, when using Simbrief there are all of the available approach charts for a given airport, such as ils charts. These charts do contain the respective ils frequency and heading plus missed approach instructions. At least in the USA, you can also get these charts for free via the FAA's website.
  23. I believe it is (or should be) common knowledge especially for flight sim related files to disable a/v software, then proceed to install. Otherwise you are inviting a lot of headaches. Just my $0.02, of course.
  24. I guess I am fortunate in that all of my favorite aircraft (PMDG, A2A, MilViz, RealAir, FlySimWare, Carenado, to name a few) and scenery work in P3Dv5.3 on my modest system. i5-4690K CPU @ 3.50GHz oc to 4.0GHz, 32 GB Ram, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 12 GB vram, 1 TB SSD, 1 TB HDD, 4 TB extHDD that contains photo scenery (megasceneryearth lower 48). I'm staying with what I have now, unless by some miracle, I can ever afford a new pc capable of running MSFS 2020 + wide variety of addons. Nuff said. 😉
  25. Please disregard, unless you too have experienced this. I simply overlooked the small, one line sub-forum link (MD530F PBR) at the top of Blackbird Sims/Milviz MD530 support forum archive. There is a link for an updated version for P3Dv5 here: https://milviz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=230&t=13191 . That solved the problem. My eyes are not as young as they used to be.😵 Edited to add: I forgot to mention, I flew a quick test flight and man does the MD530 perform well. Even did a subtle autorotation that resulted in a smooth landing. Nice whirlybird. Well worth the price of admission - freebie!!
