  1. c'mon baby....fingers crossed for the Air Pac B737-700 WL repaint...c'mon baby :)
  2. okay, you want a REAL challenge? NFFN-NFNA (Nadi Int'l to Nausori airport) in Fiji - Air Pacific used to do B738 flights from Sydney to Nausori (which has a 6,129 ft rwy) and vice versa, but would park the B738 at Nadi overnight. This is the ferry flight and takes about 30 mins or less. landing in NFNA is....interesting :) pretty much almost min runway required.
  3. I certainly fly for one - TransAustralian Aviation Group http://www.transaustraliaag.com/. Been around for about 2-3 years now. We're mainly based in Aust/NZ however one of the benefits is that you can fly for any airline replicated (and we have quite a few). We also have replicated quite a few cargo airlines eg. FEDEX, Singapore Cargo, Emirates Cargo as well as our own little charter business which we use to fly smaller a/c (to give you a break from heavy iron...and something to do instead of staring at VNAV/LNAV lol) eg. Cessna carava, C340, BN2, etc.Besides promoting my own VA, flying for VA's is an excellent experience and gives you a bit of structure eg we use VAFS (just one of many such programs) which provides fuel/pax/load numbers for us. Not every flight IRL is done at max load.Anyway, there's no shortage of VA's - just choose one and away you go. Just be sure which one you choose eg. American Airlines, SWA, etc and what a/c/routes they have.Good luck
  4. mate, you can't go past Sydney to Melbourne in Australia (ie. YSSY-YMML) - apparently one of the worlds busiest routes (if not the busiest) - only 1h 20ms or so. IRL you only cruise for about 30 mins or so before you're in descent again! lol.Try it on vatsim - this route is usually regularly staffed by VATPAC guys (who are excellent).
  5. ahhh...you're a legend mate! funny how Air Pacific isn't that well known yet the Air Pac repaints still usually have thousands of downloads!! Really appreciate it mate.Cheers
  6. nice paint job btw mate...took it for a spin last night (YSSY-YBHM) and it looked beeeautiful!!.now if only I could get someone to paint the 700 WL model in Air Pacific colours *begs* :)
  7. hey guysis anyone able to paint an Air Pacific B737-700 WL? pics are on airliners.net (can't paste link here unfortunately).
  8. ahh ok I see it now, thanks. will post in there.
  9. good topic - mind if I ask a diff question? whats the normal speed/altitude config on approach for the NG? ie. 5000, 180 kts? reason I ask is because the FMC tends to like to put you at 2,000 at 240kts by default with some magical 'deceleration' which doesn't normally happen. I've ended up doing one or two go arounds (and/or fast landings!! :() because I couldn't slow down enough in time. however I've seen (on youtube) a/c being really slow at around 7000-10000 ft.
  10. same here. couldn't figure out where to find it so took off with the overhead panel in the dark. once I got to climbing on autopilot, I flipped to the overhead panel and it was right there (top half of panel). worked fine for me (actually too bright...just left the dials as lit).
  11. hi guysI saw that the post on liveries has now gone. Is anyone able to paint the NGX 737-700 WL in Air Pacific colours?Would really appreciate it.Thanks
  12. hi guysI know this isn't exactly the place however I don't really frequent any other subforums on Avsim. My issue is - I have the ch throttle quadrant but have issues when trying to map all 4 engines for the PMDG 747X to individual throttles...seems some of them don't calibrate very well in FSX ie. works a treat when mapping with the ch pro software but not in FSX.anyway, is there a way to map say all left engines to one throttle and all right engines to another throttle (so I can use 2 throttles only but control all 4)?Thanks
  13. have raised this as an issue before. never had this problem with the 747X or LevelD 767 or even the pmdg 737NG. most of the time I've already plugged in a STAR and the route is well mapped out so I don't understand why this should occur because I fly the same routes with the above a/c. Surely in a bird as advanced as the NGX, it should be able to figure this out even if I don't put in winds aloft, etc. Still don't have any answer and its my one gripe with the NGX.
  14. Lol I knew that damned wood pidgeon would make an appearance somewhere...I just knew it.*edit* actually I've raised this in the past but yeah, I'm sure the PMDG crew know....RSR certainly does (he's the boss, ain't he?). This is where the wish lists come out....and here's mine:1. Airbus A3XX series, especially the A320. I love that IAE buzzing sound that you get from the engines when you're flying in 'em; and2. ATR series (42/72) - yes I know theres a flight 1 version out...thats been upgraded from FS9 but it ain't pretty.[insert wish list here]
  15. lol dude...you don't 'need' the B737, you 'want' the B737. just like how people use the word 'feel' to describe their thoughts...different things altogether....if you had to describe how you feel...you're supposed to do it in roughly three words eg. I feel sick, i feel happy, i feel sad, etc not I 'feel' that PMDG isn't listening to me or i 'feel' that this product is crap (this is just for the purposes of this digression so bear with me..its sat morning and I'm bored), etc. see how people use the word 'feel'? there is a correlation between my first and second para's...I know it. :)
  16. thanks mate. as I said...I let the FMC do everything but then it cracked the $hits when it couldn't achieve the descent profile and just said 'sorry, can't do it' :) (you know what I mean). if you do fly it and you don't get any issues, please let me know what you've done...it could just be something I'm missing in my preparations eg. not inputting winds aloft, etc.
  17. yeah but this is what I don't get....what does the FMC need to calculate the descent profile? obviously starting height (eg. FL360), speed (mach .74), and the way points (altitude/speed) from the nominated STAR which is usually from a certain navpoint. its the profile between TOD and the start of the STAR navpoint which is what is falling over...within the STAR, there isn't an issue. Possibly due to winds aloft not being factored, etc.
  18. I normally use a cost index of 50...don't ask me why...I just use it. :) as for descent, thats autocalculated by the FMC - I 'up' the spoilers on request but otherwise I leave it up to the FMC - maybe I'm too reliant on the FMC but its done an excellent job in the past (descending at idle at around 2000 fpm +/- 500fpm then levelling off at FL100 before bleeding off speed to 240kts) - just now and then (and it happens a lot), I get the above error.
  19. hey mate yep all the issues I've experienced have been flying in or into Australia (I've posted previously re this but got no answer). If there is a fix, I might just wait for it, however it could be that I'm not inputting winds aloft during cruise. Having said that though....I thought the FMC could just deal with it (maybe not?). Oh and yes the approach had 240/6000A in the leg page. The actual STAR is correct per the printed sheet I have (I normally run through the STAR and match against my approach plates to famil myself before or during descent).
  20. Hi all I fired up the NGX on a flight from Auckland (NZAA) to Sydney (YSSY) last night at FL360. I even dialled in the MARLN 8 STAR SY transition for Rwy 34L ie. you approach Syd from SE, overfly Syd airport at 6000ft, hang a left for downwind and then you're set up for 34L. All went to plan and at TOD I reset the ALT to 6000 and the bird started descending...at about FL250 the FMC gave me the 'descent not achieveable' and just left me there. This has happened quite a few times. is there an issue with how the descent is calculated, particularly TOD? from the times I've had this issue (not always), it seems that the TOD is too late and descending at 2000 fpm isn't sufficient to achieve the correct descent profile. I've ended up having to manually override and inc descent to approx 3000fpm or thereabouts until FL100 on full spoiler before I try to bleed off airspeed. never had this issue with the 747 or the leveld 767
  21. yep, thats the REAL source of airac charts and I highly recommend you actually print a copy esp if you fly online. if you don't want to purchase the airacs from navigraph, you can find out what is the best SID/STAR for your arrivals/destinations and then manually add them in. the only issue though is the airac also has speed and altitude restrictions in accordance with the actual charts.
  22. mate, there's also a couple of Air Pacific repaints on avsim as well....I'm sure you've seen it in the skies over Eastern Aust or NZ! :)
  23. must be pretty light...did they t/o of flaps 2 or something?
  24. i have this problem all the time - I usually refresh the a/c (ctrl_shit_r I think it is) before starting the engines, which seems to fix it. no idea why it does that but give it a try
