Thank you Terry for your comparison and comments re the CS C-130 (I am watching the linked video in patches and am in the middle of it). I've bought the Transall in the absence of the Herc some time ago and LOVE it. The Herc is still high on my wish list (the steam gauges version; not the J) and this CS version might fit the bill for fun flights... once on sale. No way I would part wirh 40 or so USD for this model in its current state. I will keep the Transall for more serious and immersive cargo flights 👍 Thanks again and happy landings.

Unless CS releases the soundpack as a $19.99 standalone product 😬

So, has anyone bought it yet?

Hello Alex, I am working on a custom set of historically correct navaids for US (1958 to be precise) and wonder whether it is possible to create a custom scenery library database containing only these 1958 navaids? I understand that the LNM detects which sims are installed and based on that allows to switch between appropriate scenery libraries (in my case FSX, MSFS, P3D and XPL11 and XPL12). I would like to create a new one called e.g. MSFS1958 for which I then would let LNM scan the modified MSFS to populate the MSFS1958 scenery library database. Can I achieve this? When I mod MSFS to include "my" 1958 navaids and let the MSFS scenery library database update, it shows the 1958 navaids correctly. But when I make a copy of this database in "AppData\Roaming\ABarthel\little_navmap_db" folder and rename it to MSFS1958, it does not show in the Scenery Library drop down list. I tried to rename this 1958 sqlite file to little_navmap_xp11.sqlite to "mimick" it is a XPL11 file and it works. However, I would prefer to be able to create a new scenery library database that would show alongside those that already exist. Also because when I release the addon, I would like to include this custom scenery library database to users for their convenience. I would appreciate your comment on this. Thanks and also thank you for LNM! Milan

JustSim LGSR really poor

Unfortunately this dev is a synonymum for low quality products. Feel free to check my feedback on ELLX: -
What A2A will likely do next after the Comanche
apollon01 replied to bofhlusr's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
How come no one has mentioned the B337 Stratocruiser yet? 😲 After the rather buggy and underwhelming AH B307 Stratoliner, I would snap the A2A B337 in a split second 🤩 -
Hello, just giving you a shout that I as a fan of an old era aircraft I am closely watching this space. Some time ago, I googled a bit trying to find databases of VORs / NDBs as they existed in the past (like 70s or 80s) but did not really find any. So perhaps the 2006 FSX database is the best option. Good luck!

Spartan 7W "Executive" Work in Progress
apollon01 replied to The Flight Level's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Yep, unless one of the devs throws towel into the ring, we will have TWO Spartans. -
There is far too much hysteria in this discussion. There was a thriving freeware community before fs.to and there will be one after fs.to as well, I am sure. Fs.to is a great place for both consumers of freeware as well as for creators of freeware (I am one of them). I hope they continue to exist as they offer a convenient way to check for new freeware and track updates. Maybe too convenient though. I am surprised how many people are scared that they might suffer from having to follow a number of sites on internet instead of one single webpage. Seriously? That was always the case in the past and to me it looks like such statements are made just to cover laziness. Use google or your favorite search engine to check what's new and use bookmarks of webpages of your favorite freeware creators who are not on fs.to. 10 minutes job if I do it slowly. And if this is the only price I have to pay to get a mod that is offered to me free of charge, I am happy to pay it. Some of my preferred freeware mods were never on fs.to anyway and the situation with payware is not any different. I bought stuff from a number of vendors (that I have to track for updates and new products) and it never occurred to me I should complain that there is no one single store that has it all. I understand that consumers of freeware mods have wishes when it comes to conditions under which they consume (e.g. files should be available forever) but they have no rights to require just that, unfortunately. Let's face it and stop moaning.

REX Seasons has been released
apollon01 replied to DMullert's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Great to see REX is coming out with a season-related product; competition is always good for the customer 🙂 I got Bijan's seasons pack but to be honest, stopped using it. I mean the idea of changing colours depending on the seasons is great, however all this effort in the final is put down by two major drawback of the sim: The types of trees (broadleaf / coniferous) is very wrong at least in Europe in places that I know. The broadleaved types prevail in the sim, while IRL there are large areas of coniferous forests. Perhaps Asobo takes data from openstreetmaps but this source is very uncomplete (again, at least for Europe). There are other publicly available sources with much more precise data about the type of forests (both in polygon as well as raster formats). Why Asobo is not using them is a mystery for me. Applying autumn colours to all-broadleaved forests in the mountains may look nice but is weird at best. Winter is just not believable: roads are under a snow-cover (as well as runways, usually) and lakes are frozen (which they may get frozen usually only under quite specific conditions). So why to use a winter-themed colours / models if the winter as such is actually pretty badly depicted by the sim? I believe that MSFS will improve in the aspects cited above. Then, to have such an addon like Bijan's or REX's will be a great addition to our desktop flying 👍 However until that time I see little sense in applying an advanced tech to something with broken fundamentals. -
Himalaya Mesh for Microsoft Flight Simulator

Can anyone comment how bad / visible the terrain morphing is when flying over the mountains? Thanks
