ground effect
Well, I have to say it is still too floaty compared to the real thing. Definitely the SP improved it a lot compared to the first release version, but whenever I try to land the NGX I notice that too much ground effect kicks in just in the last couple of feet compared to the real -800. -900 is even less floaty and more thrust dependent than -800 but I haven't tried the -900 in sim. About the rotation effect that somebody mentioned in the post, I think he refers to the "deadband" that you have when rotating through 8-9 degrees due to aerodynamic interaction with the tailplane. It is a little bit difficult to explain, but the aircraft will want to stop the rotation at around that attitude if you don't anticipate it. Personally I haven't noticed this effect in FSX, but maybe it is just my old crappy logitech joystick. There is another handling characteristic very typical of the 737 that is the thrust-pitch coupling. Changes in thrust require a pitch input or trim due to the momentum generated by the underwing mounted engines. This doesn't happen in FBW aircraft as it is automatically compensated, or on rear-mounted engines, but I really miss it in the NGX. We will see it in the P3D version maybe? And yes SteveW, a gust can definitely mess up your whole landing, but then you just blame the FO

Revived "passengers vomiting in VNAV mode" thread
The real autopilot will aim to maintain 500fpm as a minimum but it is not unusual to see it maintaining 400, 300 or even 200 for a long time until it settles at 500.... especially at high levels.Maybe you should jumpseat a little bit more ;-)

Bloom/HDR + Night lighting with ENBSeries/Shade guide
Hello,A few weeks ago I discovered ENBSeries and Shade trying to find out how to improve the default night lighting of FSX.After some tweaking I am so impressed with the result that I decided to write a quick guide for those who want to give it a try but don't have the time to search so many posts/forums about it.There are a few notes as well to help you adapt the main settings to suit your screen/projector setup as well.I uploaded the guide and config files to http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CSGAUZNAHope you like it!

Excessive ground effect on landing
For me hf4 is generally giving a realistic feel. I'm getting a similar reaction with ngx and in the real plane. Not spot on but close enough (you know, no pitch down moment due to thrust reduction and all those things fsx doesn't simulate).Haven't tried the strong hw scenario though.

Ryan (PMDG) Help (FIX) required please Re. attitude on finals
Guys, not trying to be harsh but if PMDG's adviser thinks it is spot on, PMDG definitely need to consult some other tech advisers regarding this issue (or book a FFS and try it themselves). Even if there were not real 737 pilots among the guys reporting this issue in the forum, so many people are rarely wrong. Trying to be as factual as possible, normal attitude for 30 is ~2º @57%, for 40 it is ~0.5º @63%. This settings work pretty well with the real thing. With the NGX, dual channel app, I see that it is doing shallower attitudes (most noticeable with flaps 30). And as for the touchdown attitude, the FCTM is (obviously) right, and a normal flare in the real thing (-800) ends up with something sensibly close to 4º at touchdown. NGX is way off in this aspect. Talking a little bit more subjectively, it definitely feels way too floaty and unnatural during the flare, but that is hard to describe objectively (the behavior during the flare is fine-tuned subjectively even in level d sims). Hope it gets fixed.

Final Approach Attitude
The original poster is right. The attitudes are a little bit off for both flaps 30 and 40 (especially 30). Also, during the flare, it is way more prone to ballooning than real thing if the correct technique is applied. Another missing effect during rotation is that there is no downwash hitting he horizonal stabilizer. But probably, all of this is due to FS limitations...

Wind Gusts in AsA
syn replied to Barbs's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumIsn't there any way you guys can bypass the smoothing at low level gusty conditions? I think that gusting conditions on approach/take-off are something that cannot be left apart on a great weather engine like ASA

Removing ASv6 after installing ASA
Hi,I'm owner of the ASA ASv6 upgrade and I'm wondering if it is possible to uninstall asv6 after installing ASA, as I noticed that ASA looks while loading for the ASv6 folder.I have limited hd space and as I'm no longer using ASv6 I'd like to uninstall it...Thanks beforehand for the help

Cumulus with base at 30000ft
Yep Wx Config is correct, but my problem is that in FS I'm having thoose cumulus at 30000ft depicted. All 4 sliders set to 0 and cloud layers limited to 4. Changing the sliders to other than 0 I also get thoose clouds depicted by the way.And 90% of the times they appear, they usually appear suddenly in front of the aircraft and not smoothly at the draw distance set on the FS options. The other cloud layers and weather in general I see in FS seem to be consistent with the METAR, only these Cu at 30000ft are the problem for me.I'm using Flight Environment cloud textures but I don't think this should make any difference, but I want to make sure.

Cumulus with base at 30000ft
Hi, happened again:Closest metar wasLEOC 212034Z 28703KT 16255 SCT106 04/M02 Q1018 RMK ADVANCED INTERPOLATIONDecoded text appears correct.WxConfig tab shows also only one layer at 10000ft.But in FS global weather settings there is a layer 28000-31000 of cumulus clouds.I hope you can trace it with this new info.

Cumulus with base at 30000ft
Hi,I returned to ASA after installing the beta update as I'm no longer getting CTDs with FS9 :( The problem is that in the last flights I've noticed that I'm getting regularly Cu cloud layers with base between FL250-300 and thickness around 5000ft that aren't supposed to be there.I have the four cloud sliders set to 0 with max layers set to 4, and checking both ASA local weather and WxConfig, and nearby stations on FS I don't see them in there.Im looking for any way to avoid them as I don't feel very realistic having Cu with base at thoose heights...Thanks,

Problems With Asa - Flight Time & Crashes
syn replied to a post in a topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support Forumsame problem here. Can't fly with ASA at all...AppName: fs9.exe AppVer: 9.1.0.40901 ModName: fsuipc.dllModVer: 3.8.5.0 Offset: 000273e6Other times I get other programs crashing but all of them are fsuipc clients.I can confirm that this happens with both FSUIPC 3.8.5 and 3.8.1. I don't have any older version here, but if you want me to test on an older one, PM me.syn

Suddenly Aircraft Banking And Random Ctds
Hi,I upgraded to ASA from ASv65 on FS9. Since I completed my upgrade I'm having random CTDs on several programs (FS9.exe, ASA.exe, even ivapnetint.exe) after about 1hr of execution (seems the same OOM errors that others are experiencing?)Another thing that is happening to me is having a sudden bank while cruising. It seems like... wake vortexes?... but with no traffic around. Can someone confirm if the CTDs are the same OOM problems that others are having, and the banking issue? Thanks
