  1. I'm confused, does this DSR feature work with the GTX-780ti? I have two of them running in SLI (I completely understand P3D does not directly support SLI, I use SLI for other purposes).

    Prepar3D V 2.4

Is simstarter and simbackup completely compatible with P3D 2.4?? I just discovered these utilities and would like to use them and donate but want to be sure they are compatible with 2.4.
  3. It works fine in 2.4. Use the migrator and all will be good. One of my favorite places to fly. Very difficult taking off and landing. Look closely, you will probably see parts of my airplanes on the mountain side at the end of the runway, LOL!. The Aerosoft Twin Otter is a really excellent airplane to use with Lukla, I use it there often
  4. Hi Stephen, I hope you can help me with a maddening problem. I just built up a new computer using an Asus motherboard which is all working just fine. I have P3D 2.4 installed and working fine. I also have OPUSFSI installed on the host machine (not using OPUS across the network). I am encountering some problems with the use of SimConnect. I have several other utilities used both across my network and on the local machine that is running Prepar3D such as SuperTrafficBoard, PLAN-G etc. I am also using several Saitek Flight Instrument Panels which used to be dependent on a specific version of Simconnect. Saitek recently released a new version of their drivers which work fine with P3D with Simconnect or without Simconnect. All of the utilities, instruments are working perfectly without having to use SimConnect. For some reason that I don't understand when I use your SimConnect contained in \OPUSFSI to make OPUSFSI work correctly with Prepar3D 2.4 then none of my other utilities work anymore. Removing SimConnect allows the other utilities to work again but of course not OPUSFSI which puts up a System.Type initialization error when it tries to load from the EXE.XML file. I can't seem to find where to attach a screenshot of the error message. Can you help straighten me out?
  5. FSDT released an update to the add-on manager almost immediately after the release of Prepar3D 2.4. Just go to the FSDT website, click on any of the products, scroll down the page and download the latest version of the add-on manager and then run it.
  6. Thanks Stephen I uninstalled the FSI upgrade, went back and installed OpusFSX then the FSI update and all is fine now. Thanks for the best weather engine available anywhere. John
  7. Hi Stephen I am in trouble again. I installed a new motherboard, windows, P3D etc. I re-installed OpusFSI using Flight1 FSI upgrade download and it re-installed ok. I keep getting the demo mode from FSI. Should I have installed my original licensed OpusFSX first and then install FSI? Thanks John
  8. I am in no way disputing you. I was only curious as to what program is responsible for actually displaying the wet runways (i.e., P3D, OPUS or REX).
  9. I don't have ASN so that is not a factor. I am less than a mile from KIWA and I have checked their METARS (as you did also) and they report no preciptiation. That is really strange since it was pouring heavy rain here at the same time as their last METARS. The whole central Arizona area has been hit very hard with rain over the last 12-16 hours. I will just wait for the next rain (which is not very often here in Mesa, AZ) and see what happens. More than anything I was just curious to find out which source; P3D, OPUS or REX actually is responsible for generating the wet runways/rain shown in P3D. Thanks for your detailed response.
  10. I need to be cleared up on something. I am using OPUSFSI. It is raining heavily here in the Phoenix, Arizona area today. OPUS shows the dense clouds etc. that would be associated with that kind of weather. However, the runways at KIWA/KPHX are dry and there is no rain visibly falling. Is this a fault of P3D? I checked with REX 4 Texture support and they say it has nothing to do with textures so I am a little confused where the missing runways/rain effects should be generated from.
  11. Hi Stephen Every time I start OPUSFSI I see a "Validating License" being displayed for a few seconds. Is that normal? I don't seem to remember seeing that in OPUSFSX. Thanks John
  12. My given name is John Fail, I'm not so sure a cheap shot about my last name is appropriate, I am quite proud of my last name.
  13. Well you must be right. While I was waiting for your reply I decided to uninstall FSI and do a re-install. Other than the permissions/sharing message the configuration went ok and I am no longer getting the \Weather\Themes error. So I must have screwed up when I did the configuration. Thanks for your help all working ok now. John
  14. I purchased the update, installed it, set permissions/sharing and of course got the Opus Folder undefined error, so I proceeded to OPUS, saved the configuration. Now I am getting a error: "could not find a part of the path. C:\OpusFSI\Weather\themes\OpusWeather.wt". That folder exists but is empty. Why does this have to be so difficult setting OPUS up?
  15. I am confused. On the download page it says "OpusFSI downloads" but below that it says "OpusFSX", download to purchase etc. I want to upgrade my OpusFSX to OpusFSI which one do I choose? Are they one in the same now??
  16. Hi Stephen Please clear me up. I was using OPUSFSX (licensed) for some time then I started using the FSI beta which has been working fine until now. This morning I installed the FSI 4.00.20 beta and when OPUS was displaying VALIDATING LICENSE it changed to DEMONSTRATION MODE and is remaining that way. Did I miss the release of FSI and I need to upgrade?
  17. It seems like this error has creeped back into v2.3 of P3D. Several people over on the LM forum are reporting they have encountered it so it is not just you. Keep going, you will get it. It seems like you are making progress.
  18. The prices of SSD's is dropping by the day. If you are serious about P3D and plan on lots of scenery, mesh, airplanes etc. I would strongly recommend a 1tb SSD. One problem that arises is backing up your installation since the drive being backed up to needs to be pretty large also. I personally have four 1tb HDD'S in my tower case that I backup to from the 1tb SSD. Amazon has 1tb Western Digital HDD's for down around $60.00 usd. Backups with a good backup program such as Acronis and others are a wise investment.
  19. Yes the 340 drivers from Nvidia caused all kinds of problems for many of us and we all reverted to the 337 drivers. Your system seems to be up to the task but I am no expert on the Asus motherboards although I am very seriously considering replacing my EVGA Z97 motherboard with an ASUS (don't ask!!). I am not familiar with the 770 (I use the 780ti) but the specs look good for it. A good place to start with video problems is here: http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=3920 I had tearing problems also but eventually I got rid of them by tweaking the system. It just takes patience. FSX was just as bad as I am sure you know. Don't give up, I believe your system is up to the task and just needs configuring. One of the experts here is Rob Ainscough who posts a lot and I am hopeful he will see this post and step in to help you. He has been an enormous help to many of us.
  20. You did not mention what video card you are using which if it is not a more recent and powerful card the performance of P3D (and you) will suffer greatly. What is the CPU, memory etc.? Also if you purchase additional scenery, mesh etc. your SSD will fill rapidly so use the biggest SSD you can afford. If you plan to add scenery, third party aircraft etc. you will almost certainly need the Estonia migration tool. It is hard to do without it. I forget what it costs but it is cheap and a very wise investment. Tell us more about your system so we can help you. Unfortunately there are wise-asses around that just have to be obnoxious instead of helpful to a newbie. P3D has come a long way, some people are going to complain no matter what. It demands a pretty good computer to show its power. So be patient, you will work it out.
  21. I checked this entire thread, nowhere did I find any "specifically asked the OP how he was able to check the version without launching it" posted by you. Hence I assumed you had not actually tried it and was only trying to help you. Since you seem to feel the need to reference my user name as "a fail", I won't bother trying to help you anymore.
  22. If you go ahead and launch the EXE then click on Help > About Lockheed Martin Prepar3D. If it is correctly installed it should show you: Prepar3D Version 2.3.11345.0 Simconnect Version 2.3.0.0 License ID: xxxxxxxx
  23. Can someone clear me up on this? Do I need to reinstall FTX Global or not? I don't see any references to it elsewhere.
  24. I followed Rob's instructions to the letter and the patch over my 2.2.10438 to 2.3.11345.0 went perfectly. Thanks Rob, you have done great work in keeping us all informed and showing the way to getting it right. Kudos!, we all owe you a beer (that should keep you in beer for a long time!).
