  1. "If you run the patch you need to be at 2.2.10437 (not 2.2.10438 - that's the hot fix)." So what do those of us that are using 10438 do?
  2. Thanks Stephen, using your simconnect.msi works fine all the way around. John
  3. I was having nothing but trouble with my Saitek Instrument Panels (the FIP's, not the panels that work fine with SPAD) working in P3D V2.2 10438. I finally figured out that the problem was simconnect being the wrong version. A user over at the P3D forum suggested I might be using the wrong version of simconnect and the Saitek FIP drivers needed an older version. I found in Prepar3D V2 > redist > Interface > FSX-RTM > retail > lib > simconnect.msi. That installed version 10.0.60905.0 of simconnect. My FIP;s started working fine at that point. Now a new problem has arisen, when I run OPUS or OPFSI I get an error. I have a screenshot but I don't know how to attach a screenshot to my post. The error is: System. TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'd" threw an exception. ---> System.IO.FileNotFoundException. The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800700E) at.d..cctor() --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at a3a.a(String[],a_0) I tried re-booting but it did not help. If I remove the simconnect by using control panel then OPUS/OPUSFSI work fine again. So what do I do now?? I hate to give up my FIP's after all my hard work to run that problem down but I also don't want to give up OPUS/OPUSFSI.
  4. I am really having a tough time with this. I got a new motherboard (EVGA Z97 with a I7 4790K, 16 GB). I did a fresh install of windows 7 64 bit, installed P3D 2.2.10437.0. Everything works fine, Saitek Yoke, Radio Panel, Multi Panel, Switch Panel, Throttle etc. What does not work is any of the FIP's (I have 9 of them). They all worked flawlessly on my old Z77 motherboard with no problems of any kind. I have a 20 port USB hub with a 10 amp power supply on it that I have used for two years now with all the Saitek stuff and the old motherboard. I have confirmed the hub is fine on another computer (but not with panels, fip's etc., just a test run with other USB devices). I have the correct exe.xml entries and the correct SaiflightsimX.xml file in the direct output folder for the FIP's. According to LM simconnect is no longer required but I installed it anyway (tried removing it but no difference on the FIP's). I am certain of the exe.xml file, I have done all of this many times before but this one has me stumped. I scaled down to a single FIP on a USB port connected to the computer directly and removed all hubs, other saitek devices etc. Same problem, no display on the FIP from P3D (the normal Saitek ads appear on it so it is functioning ok). Hopefully someone has some ideas because I am out of them.
  5. Just purchased/registered and downloaded the latest version (1.2). I wanted to get it before the price went up the end of this week. I find this to be very well done software. Love the maps, ease of use etc. Very well written manual. Use of a second monitor is almost mandatory for this application, there are a lot of buttons, map displays, chart displays, radio displays etc. on the screen and running it over your sim on the same screen makes it difficult to deal with things. I am pressed for time this week due to a major illness in the family so won't have much time with it for now. I tried it briefly with P3D V2.2 and XP10. It connected very quickly. I have not tried out the voice recognition yet, maybe next week. It looks good and well worth the introductory price.
  6. "How do i change the ATC sound output from my speakers to my headset?" I suspect you could use a couple of programs to achieve what I think you want to do (or at least give you a lot of flexibility in routing your audio).: Voicemeeter: http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Voicemeeter/ I personally use Voicemeeter. A little tricky to setup but works well. It is free but does ask for a donation. Works great and very worth the donation. Basically, you install Voicemeeter, select it as the default audio, then select outputs such as the speakers and a headset. In my case I use Voicemeeter as the default sound then output to my Logitech Wireless headset (H800) AND to the normal Realtek speaker output at the same time. Works great. VAC: http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.htm Not free, $ 30.00, if I remember correctly. I also have VAC but found it much more difficult to setup/maintain than Voicemeeter.
  7. I am thinking about getting the A2A C172. Does it run ok in 2.2? Is the migrator required for installation? Very informative topic.
  8. You will probably get better help on this if you go here: http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=hq8m72qusdslc93qdser2esfj1&board=15.0
  9. Hi Rob, Your updates and analysis are very much appreciated by all of us. John
  10. Tony always comes up with good stuff and this will be no exception. Tony, we appreciate the time you have taken to enlighten many of us about scenery, libraries, placement and general help.
  11. Tony, Thanks very much for the detailed descriptions of the various scenery, mesh etc. I found it very, very enlightening and informative. It added greatly to my understanding of how all of this works.
  12. Hi Tonywob Thanks for the very informative reply. It was a great help in understanding things. The last question I have is about the scenery_packs.ini file. Does X-Plane 10 read it from bottom to top such as the FSX/P3D scenery file does? I see that zzz_hd_global_scenery2 is at the bottom of the file where UrbanMaxx Extreme is at the top. Several airports and scenery files are in between them. Thanks again for your insight. John
  13. I could really use some guidance. I fly X-Plane 10 (Win 7 Pro 64 Bit) almost exclusively VFR in the Cessna 172 in the Southern Arizona, Southern Colorado and SE Alaska areas (I am not bright enough to use the jets and more complicated aircraft). About the only custom scenery I have is Inside Passage and Final Frontier and some very outdated Phoenix AZ area photoscenery. I am getting elderly (74) and I really have trouble following scenery, mesh, photoscenery, OSM etc. and how to use them properly. I have downloaded some of the V2 HD mesh from apilotx (just the SW U.S. and SE Alaska areas) which seem to improve the default scenery greatly. The SE Alaska mesh seems to confict with Final Frontier a bit in that there are trees in the taxiways at PAPG which all goes back to normal when I remove the SE Alaska mesh (not a big deal to me). I keep seeing references to files to download photoscenery from simHeaven.com. Forgive me but I really get confused as to what I can install, cannot install that conflicts with other downloads, scenery, mesh etc. I understand what mesh is, I understand what photoscenery is but I just do not understand what can and cannot be installed without conflicts. I purchased urbanmaxx extreme V2 3D yesterday hoping it would improve some building placements in remote areas of Colorado that I like to fly over but it did not do so. I realize it is "Urban" maxx so I did not really expect it to make much of a difference but it was cheap so I though I would try it out. When I installed the apilotx mesh I see that it placed it's entry last in the scenery_packs.ini file. The Urbanmaxxextreme is the first entry in the scenery_packs.ini file. Does it make a difference where they are placed in the scenery_packs.ini file? Sorry to sound so dumb but I really get confused in what I can and cannot do with mesh, scenery etc. Thanks for patiently reading and any input. John
  14. "Hopefully there will be a configuration tool sometime in the future, but if not, I'll pass on Vector." I agree. I posted elsewhere on the forums how Vector completely misses accuracy (not even close) on some large Lakes in Colorado. I disabled ORBX!VECTOR in the scenery library for P3D V2 and all of the scenery for the lakes returned normally. Hopefully some fixes will come down the road. Pretty disappointed after spending $50.00 on Vector.
  15. J van E, The registered version of FSUIPC is currently $ 39.00 U.S.D. There is NO greater bargain for use with your sim (FSX/P3D etc.). Peter is extremely prompt with support and updates it on a very regular basis. If you take the time to read the very substantial manual and all of the capability that FSUIPC provides you will wonder how you ever got along without it. It certainly is not just handling of joysticks etc. it has much to offer. You can define many functions with it. Buy it. learn it and you will not be sorry you did.
  16. One last question. Earlier today when I was running P3D V2 and clicked on "Addons" I noticed several OPUS entries in the drop down menu. Now, they have disappeared. Did I mess up the exe.xml or dll.xml file somehow? I really like how the clouds are appearing in the beta.
  17. Thanks Stephen, I did not scroll down far enough on the page. Sorry about that.
  18. "Betas are usually provided as msi files but occasionally are provided as ZIP files. Click on the Beta button and download the OpusFSX_vNNN_Beta.zip or OpusFSX_vNNN_Beta.msi file." Where is the "beta" button?

I really hate to sound dumb but where is the code box icon? Also a ham, KL7GRF/7
  21. Hi Stephen I purchased, downloaded and installed OPUS this morning and all works just fine. It is version 3.37.5. I have a question about the update process. Your website says "If you have previously purchased OpusFSX and want to upgrade to the latest Release version then click on the Upgrade button and download the OpusFSX.msi file.". Does "click on the Upgrade button" mean on your website or is there an upgrade button within OPUS (that I could not find)?? I tried it thru your website, downloaded the .msi and then ran the .msi file. I see the version number I am using 3.37.5 stayed the same, does that mean that there was no update available?? I presume if there was a new version it would have downloaded and installed it? Thanks for your time. John
  22. RoboRay I don't think Dillon said a word about don't install them. He was just saying if you do install them don't complain if they don't work. And I am not saying you are complaining, Dillon is just making a point about those who are complaining.
  23. Thanks Stephen, that fixed the problem. I remember seeing comments there was a problem in P3D V2 with the fog but did not know it would affect OPUS. Works great now. Thanks again
  24. I downloaded the demo this morning and installed it. I am using P3D V2. I have a default flight of a Cessna 172 at Williams Field KIWA (just a mile from my house). I start P3D V2 and the flight loads normally. My problem is that prior to loading OPUS all of the mountains surrounding KIWA look quite normal. As soon as OPUS injects the current weather ALL of the surrounding mountains turn totally white as if they were covered in snow from top to bottom which is certainly not the case here in middle Arizona. Reloading the flight restores the mountain view to normal until OPUS injects the weather again and the mountains all turn totally white again.
