  1. It has a full 3D cockpit and incomplete 2D cockpit. The Center pedestal, for whatever crazy reason, is not modeled in 2D, so you'll have to use a key shortcut or go to the 3D cockpit to access the trim and fuel flow switches.
  2. If you have an Xperia X10 (which I doubt anybody has) like me, you would really know the difference between the FPS capped 30FPS the screen goes at and the 60FPS uncapped FPS that you can hack in. Same with shooting games. HUGE difference between 30FPS and 60FPS. For me, the sweet spot for performance vs quality is 30-35FPS. Anything under 22FPS is too poor.
  3. actually 2011 hasn't been too bad. 2009 and especially 2010 were terrible. Also, the amount of planes in the air has increased so much in the past decade that just by law of averages there will be more crashes every year :\
  4. I don't know if it's just me but I find this aircraft to be the hardest to land smoothly out of all my FS addons (Even harder than the MD11X and 744X) It just seems to drop out of the sky on approach, and then when I flare, it's really sensitive and if I don't get it right I float or even climb. If I don't flare enough, I drop on the runway and give the tires a huge beating. There seems to be a really small margin of error during landing. Are there any tips from people on how to manage landing this bird? I'm still trying to figure it out. My usual loadout is 40 Flaps and VREF+5 with about 10% fuel remaining...I still have problems landing sometimes! Cheers Karan.
  5. Am I happy with the bird? Yes. Can there be improvements? Yes. I'm not going to turn a blind eye to the problems and I'm going to express my views. I am not going to bow down to the all mighty PMDG. If there are things I don't like about the aircraft, I will say it. IRDC what YOU'RE saying. If you don't like what my OP is about, ignore it and let the thread die instead of bumping it up then. Get a new computer? So that's the ultimate answer to almost every PMDG problem huh? NGX Freezing? Get a new computer. Don't like the incomplete 2D Panel? Make your own plane. Don't like the 3D Panel performance? Get a new computer. Great suggestions. Karan.
  6. umm, yes it can get more complete...if it was as complete as it could be it would have a 2D Center pedestal, and circuit breakers. And telling someone to make them themselves is such an immature thing to say...just what a teenager would say in fact. ;) I would like to hear about the workarounds as well. The simple fact is that PMDG didn't do something that would have literally taken MAX an hour or two to do. Out of the 3-4 year dev period, 1-2 hours is nothing. And having to go to the 3d panel and endure 25-30 seconds of pain just to flip two switches shouldn't happen. Karan.
  7. Nope, I will not pay for a new rig for this, especially on something that should have been there from the beginning
  8. Yes, there is a center pedestal view, but that's not the point, the point is that if you do that you have to go into the 3d panel to do that, and it doesn't matter where you position the camera, the computer is going to render the WHOLE 3D cockpit, and that causes freezes and really poor FPS, and once even a CTD. It's just really annoying that I have to keep on encountering that, and it's a jolt back to the fact that this is a sim. The immersion goes because of that 5-7 second loading time it takes for the VC. A 2D panel would fix that. What a pathetic post by a pathetic person. (Rightly) Criticizing PMDG makes these ###### come out and show their true colors, eh? Well get over it, I think that PMDG went wrong with this one, and a 2D panel for at least the fuel levers (ok, fine, no throttle quadrant) would be fine. Another useless post. My computers meet the requirements. It's a fact that even higher end machines struggle with the NGX sometimes. Uhh yeah, so? I have NEVER seen a FS company state that there is 'full 2d panel'. When someone says a 2D panel is included (And yes, PMDG has said that), it is assumed that the WHOLE 2D panel is covered UNLESS SAID OTHERWISE. There are exceptions, like the Aerosoft Airbus X, but IIRC they actually mention that there's no real 2D panel. The fact is that there should be at the very least a 2d panel for the fuel levers. Karan.
  9. Why? It still boggles my mind. Did they become lazy? I am 100% sure it wouldn't have been that hard. They made EVERYTHING else of the 2d panel, but this? For someone like me with an average PC, the NGX is already such a FPS sucker. The 2D panel gets great FPS. But then, on engine start, I don't have a choice and have to go to the VC. What happens? 10 Second freezes. 10FPS. Lag. More freeze. Why? What's up with the hate towards 2D users? I am trying to find a viable reason why PMDG wouldn't do something as simple as hell, just modeling the 2D Engine fuel switches, that's all I need! Instead, everytime I fly this bird I have no choice but to go twice to the 3D cockpit to turn on and off the engines, and really detract from the user experience. For such a hyped product as being 'the most complete and best simulation ever', the NGX sure has its shortcomings. Hopefully PMDG can add this 'feature', I'm sure it won't be terribly hard and it would pay dividends to 2D users. Karan.
  10. The tail is usually the easiest way to distinguish airlines, and airlines will do anything for publicity, so I think it's used very liberally :) Also, the tail lights, I would think, won't be using that much power at all...they're just regular spotlights....compared to the engines, APU, aircon, systems etc the cost of using the logo lights would be negligible. Karan.
  11. Now that the NGX is out, the T7 is the next and biggest interest in me. Ughh, what I would do to fly a PMDG Singapore Airlines 777 from WSSS to EHAM in the 777er, I'd jizz. karan
  12. What?. Of course I fly the plane and enjoy the realism. But, I'm not exactly bounded to the cockpit right? Sometimes I like seeing the wings bounce and flex during takeoff, and for someone who has never been in a cockpit, that is the only way I can relate this to real-life flying. .Sometimes I like doing the same during landing and seeing the flaps extend and wings bounce. I can have it the best of both worlds, I don't always have to be in the cockpit.
  13. Nope, I am talking about the actual engine sounds, not the ambient cockpit sounds. I doubt that the spool up sound of the 737 will suddenly change from Row 1 to the cockpit, the basic sound will be the same, right? I am not talking about the cockpit sounds, I am talking about the cabin area sounds.
  14. You can't just shrug off something by saying 'well that's not what this things meant for'. This is supposed to be the best, most realistic, most in-depth aircraft ever. Simulation is not the only thing that reflects this. Sound does it too, as an immersion factor, if it's wrong, then that's a problem. My opinion can be wrong, but IMO I will still say the sounds are a bit iffy, especially the spoolup sound. That is my opinion. But it's quick ridiculous to say 'this is a simulation so sound can be wrong', when sound is a huge factor in simulation itself. This is regardless of whether I am wrong or not.
  15. Passenger experience? Yes. Ridiculous? What? No. I'm entitled to my opinion, and IMO there is something not right about the NGX interior sounds. What would be ridiculous is if someone made my claim without actually sitting in a real 737. Did I do that? No. YES. At the back of any jetplane really, as the plane spools up, you hear the whine and then around the 50-60% N1, a really loud rumbling sound instead of the engine whine. That is not there in the NGX.
