  1. If LM could fix all the long standing legacy bugs inherrited from FSX I would be more than happy. While PBR is nice, LM really needs to focus on fixing the simulation, before introducing more new features like improved graphics etc. Now after all these years, P3D still suffers from: the famous ground friction bug horrible turboprop simulation that is not even close to real life, including startup and lack of beta range simulation (not even jet engines are properly simulated by default) horrible helicopter simulation RPM/MP bug (piston engines) the famous leaning bug for piston engines completely lack of ground handling terrible water dynamics (try to maneouver a turboprop plane like the twin otter on floats in P3D, and you'll understand) flight dynamics and especially how the wind and turbulence affects the airplane is more or less completely missing If this gets fixed and improved in v5, I would be a happy boy. This short video is from X-plane 11, where the default B737 is landing in gusty crosswind. This is how it should be in P3D too.
  2. Like I said in the other same topic. Activation problem. Did you put in your serial code at first launch when selecting this PMDG plane? Could also be a pirated version. Did you buy this from PMDG? Or downloaded it for free somewhere else? I would say it's either one or two. If it's a pirated version, go to pmdg's website and buy the plane. Then it will be working without black gauges or landing gear problems. Guaranteed.

  4. No problem Rob. I was expressing myself a bit unclear. HTR is by the way a fantastic freeware program that gives you highly realistic flight dynamics for helicopters. Similar to what you can have in X-plane in regards to helicopter physics. Highly recommended if you like choppers in P3D. Different profiles can be downloaded for free, or even created by your self. Can be downloaded from hovercontrol.com.
  5. This is not axis related. I'm using HTR which you may have heard of. It's an external program (freeware) that simulates the helicopter physics way better than P3D. So it takes the aerodynamics outside of P3D. This is the only way you can have good helicopter flight dynamics in P3D. So I'm just asking if anyone else is having problems with HTR in P3D v4.1 or higher?
  6. Hello, Been trying latest Milviz MD530 for P3D v4 together with HTR v1.62 and also v1.50. But, the helicopter refuses to move forward at cruise speed. I get all kinds of strange behaviour when I'm trying to fly forward. I'm running all my controls through fsuipc, and have my joystick and rudder pedals disabled in the sim. Been trying both profiles that comes with this program for the MD530 without any luck. Any solutions?
  7. Helicopter flight dynamics are a big joke in P3D. If you love flying helicopters in the ESP platform, I will suggest you try out a small freeware program called HTR (Helicopter Total Realism). This comes with many preset, and more presets can be downloaded for free. This will take the flight dynamics outside of P3D, and will give you completely different flight dynamics which are way more realistic. More like you can find in X-plane and Take On Helicopters. Highly recommended. I haven't tried this in P3D v4 yet, but I think it will work :)
  8. Never been any descent choppers for the ESP platform due to rediculous helicopter physics
  9. Great news! I had version 1 of this plane, but it's been a while now. Systems etc was very good simulated if I remember correctly. And you had to operate the plane according to the manual, otherwise you could get some nasty surprises. But it suffered from the turboprop issues like every other turboprop plane in both FSX and P3D. So, my question is, has Flight1 managed to find a solution for the lack of turboprop physics in P3D? This is the reason why I don't fly turboprops in P3D (except the Majestic Q400 which is another ballgame). They're not flyable in the ESP platform because of this.
  10. The way it looks now, I will stick with 4.1 until 4.3 comes out. I don't see any reason to upgrade to 4.2. Nothing really new in 4.2, just a whole bunch of bug fixes that mostly don't affect me anyways. Let's see about 4.3.
  11. As much as I love the MD530 helicopter, it's flight dynamics are nowhere near how the real one handles. But that's due to the rediculous helicopter simulation in P3D. What I did in P3D v3.x was to use HTR (helicopter total realism) with Milviz MD530. The difference is huge. HTR can be downloaded for free at hovercontrol.com. Not sure if it works in P3Dv4. This is the only way you can have realistic helicopter flight dynamics in P3D. Other option is to move to X-plane.
  12. Regarding helicopter flying in P3D. It's nowhere near realistic. The only realistic helicopter on the platform was Dodosim Bell 206 which was fenomenal. But it came with it's own flight dynamics engine if I remember correctly. But it only works in FSX and earlier versions of P3D. Other than that, you will have to try out X-plane if you'd like realistic helicopter simulation.
  13. Hello, Been enjoying FS2Crew the last few years. Great product. However, I would love to have the oportunity to fly as a first officer, and not only as a captain. Is this something that has ever been considered?
  14. Unfortunately, many issues from the old FSX days still remain in P3D. Along with those issues with snowy runways, but as soon as you leave the runway the taxiways and apron shows no sign of snow at all. I have reported this myself to LM, but it's amazing to see that this long standing FSX issue is still not fixed now in P3D version 4.1.
  15. Sounds very interesting. Will for sure buy when it becomes available. I flew this in FSX a few years back at my friends house, but I don't remember much regarding the engine operation. I really liked the cockpit environment in this plane, and the high quality virtual cockpit. Very nice training plane to shoot approaches etc. if you want something a little faster and challenging than a small GA twin.
  16. @ckyliu Sounds good. I was more interested about the slow spool up time for the turboprop engine which makes them impossible to fly in P3D, and also highly unrealistic. F.ex if you're flying at cruise power and you start a slow descent. You reduce the power slightly, it takes like 40 secs for the torque to reduce to where you set it. Is this issue fixed?
  17. Since the turboprop simulation is severely broken in P3D, I wonder if you have found a "walkaround" or if we can expect a flawed engine dynamic due to P3D limitations?
  18. I think that is definately a good idea. Gives the users a smooth transition.
  19. On a turboprop you use the beta range to control taxi speed and for stopping after landing. It's not reverse, but the props are at a very low pitch. You can clearly hear this if you've been at an airport where a turboprop airplane has started taxing. There is this distinct change in pitch and sound. This is simulated in X-plane 11 but not in P3D. Haven't tried the RW Designs Duke unfortunately. Only the Twin Otter.
  20. Couldn't have said it better myself :) We need to prepare for the future, and not stay in the past. And yes, Carenado would definately benefit from an upgrade like this. I think we all would do despite the negativity towards breaking backward compatibility :)
  21. There's no difference in the simulation between those two versions as far as I know. It's just a license thing.
  22. Being a turboprop pilot I can tell you that it's not realistic in the Realair either. But, it's better than most other turboprops in P3D taking into consideration all the limitations. And, they have fixed a few errors that you will find in other turboprop airplanes for P3D. But the way the engine handles is way off. But like they say in the manual, it's as good as it can be taken into account the limitations in P3D. When you add a little bit of power in a turboprop, the power is there more or less immediately. There's almost no "spool up" time. Also, beta range is not simulated at all in P3D. This is way better in X-plane 11. Besides this, I agree that a desktop sim flight dynamics will never be the same as in a real airplane. But, there is plenty of room for major improvements and fixes to make the simulation in P3D mirror the real world more precisely and realistically.
  23. Absolutely. But X-plane simulates the turboprop engine realistically, no ground friction bug, way better physics etc. That being said, X-plane lacks in other areas and has a tendency to exaggerate and "oversimulate" things. You might be right about the ability to bypass p3d's physics engine and create your own. But, how many developers are willing to do this? Or have the resources and knowledge? I think not very many. I'm not looking for a physics model that is so advanced that it requires it's own GPU core. But I do want something that is atleast close to what X-plane can offer. But it doesn't have to be down to the most extreme detail.
  24. I used to have the same opinions that you have. But from what I have seen recently after the release of P3Dv4, I think us flight simmers are more important that we would like to think. Otherwise they would not have cared to work so closely with several 3rd party developers for v4.
