  1. What's missing in my opinion: * realistic water physics * proper engine simulation, especially for pistons and turboprops (turboprop simulation is still very flawed. E.g. beta range and reverse) * turbulence and the impact wind and weather have on the aircraft * better helicopter flight dynamics (still many flaws) * improved ground physics In the graphics department: * better night lighting * support for community made water masks (SDK) General: * Controls UI. Ability to set up controls like in XP, where you can define various profiles and set up things like beta and reverse. You CAN set up profiles in MSFS too, but the UI is not exactly user friendly and intuitive.
  2. If you're looking for the best realism, PMDG is by far the best and most realistic.
  3. A 757 from PMDG would be very welcome
  4. It's hardware related. Had the same problem on my old computer. Upgraded with a better CPU and graphics card and I don't have the issue anymore.
  5. I had some problems with the to/ga button recently. To/ga would not engage for take-off no matter what. But turning on both flight directors (cpt and fo) seemed to fix the problem for me. For me it works like a charm now. Just a suggestion worth trying.
  6. I've already done that, but unfortunately it doesn't make much difference. If I set up a button via FSX, it will be overridden by the NGX when you have it loaded.
  7. Here's the picture requested of my NGX ready for departure.
  8. As I said in my post I already tried to map a key to the AT toggle and toga mode in the FMC, but still no luck unfortunately. Strange actually. Mike:Sounds like a good idea. Just gonna fire up FSX first, and I'll be back with a pic :)
  9. Totally agree! Armen did an outstanding job on the NGX sound set. It's absolutely amazing, unlike any other product. I've tested a lot of sound packages, both freeware and payware but no one gets even close to this. Like I said in a previous reply, I just love to tune up my 5.1 speakers and apply take-off thrust in the NGX :D It's music to my ears! :PMy neighbors must think I'm crazy, haha.
  10. Okay, I just checked the manual override option in the FMC, but it is set to NEVER. So now I'm all out of ideas.
  11. sarahguiney,Thanks for the FMC tip! I'm definately gonna check that out. No, it's 40% usually, but I've heard of companies who use 60%. But 60% is usually for bigger jets like the 767 etc. I think the reason for that is to prevent a compressor stall.
  12. According to the manual, you should flare the 737 at 10 feet agl. The reason for this is because the 737 is a very slippery plane, so if you flare any higher you're gonna float half down the runway. You also retard the throttles at this altitude. Hope this helps, and happy landings! :)
  13. Hi!Been flying the NGX since it was released now flawlessly. But I have one problem. The autothrottle. I can't get the TO/Go around to work. I've set up the FMC and airplane properly, autothrottle engaged, but when I advance the throttles to 40% for take-off and push the TO/Go around button nothing happens. I've even tried to assign a keyboard button for the TO/GO around mode via the FMC, but it still doesn't work. Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong here?
  14. This actually happens to me as well when I'm on the ILS into ENGM. It's strange, because I'm flying the ILS perfectly, and the surrounding terrain is quite flat. So it shouldn't be an issue.
  15. They're right between the capt and FO's seats....in VC. In 2D, they don't exist. If you're flying in 2D, you will have to switch temporarily to VC to adjust the trim etc.
  16. Yeah, ###### the MEL :( We don't need brakes when the reverse thrust is fully working :D
  17. My brakes failed on the ground during taxi for departure. I thought this was only an FSX error or something I was just overlooking, so I took off without brakes. In the air I did some more investigation without any luck. When I landed in Ibiza (Spain) the autobrakes didn't work much. Stupid move :( But I still (barely) was able to bring the airplane to a complete stop using reverse thrust. But it was a close call. I just love this plane! :DI know I shouldn't say this, but I'm looking forward to the next failure of something, haha.
  18. I think the biggest challenge would be the landing. If you've never flown a real airplane before, there's no way you would be able to land a 737. Even if you're used to fly a GA plane, I doubt you would be able to land a 737. No matter how much FS experience you have. And also, the pressure and stress factor flying a 737 without any training would be intense. Sim vs real life is two completely different things. If you've never flown an airplane before, even flying a Cessna 172 would be too much to handle all on your own. It takes a lot of practice and training. Even with years of flightsimming it took me several flight lessons to be able to land a cessna 172 all on my own in real life. I still remember when I first started flying multi engine airplanes. The first flight was pretty overwhelming. But as I gained more experience and training it became a lot easier :(
  19. You can run it on your notebook, but for the best experience, I wouldn't recommend it. Get a better computer with a nice widescreen monitor :)Just my little tip :(
  20. I noticed the same thing. It's pretty cool indeed! :)
  21. You might have to add the HIMEM fix to your fsx.cfg. If that doesn't help, it's probably a slow and old graphics card that's causing the problem. I had this problem too, but when I upgraded my graphics card to one with 1 GB RAM it solved the problem.
  22. This is actually the way the real 737 acts, so it's perfectly normal as being said previously. The key here is planning, and being ahead of the airplane. It takes some practice, but eventually you will get used to it. A good advice is to print out charts for the places you are flying to, that way you can better manage when to start slowing down and what speed to aim for at a given point on your approach. Also, check out the video made by a real 737 FO (sticky thread on this forum).Good luck! :)
  23. Armen,You're very wecome! I understand the problem. But it's no big deal at all. The sound set for the NGX is as perfect as it's possible to get. Way better than any other product I've purchased, so I can definitely live with that :) After all, I never sit on the ground and listen to the APU anyways :(
  24. If you're using headphones you need good quality headphones. Otherwise I would not recommend it. And yes, you need to tune up the volume in order to hear all sounds properly. It's like a whole new experience. I just love flying the NGX with my 5.1 speaker system :) I also have a descent pair of headphones that I use every now and then. I'm so happy with the sounds of this airplane. I've tried several other big jets for FSX, including different sound packages (both freeware and payware), but no one even gets close to what PMDG have archived in this product. It's simply outstanding. Since no one have ever done it so well before, I though it wasn't possible. But that was until I purchased the NGX. I've been flying jumpseat in the 737-800 several times with Scandinavian airlines and Norwegian, and this is as real as you can get it from what I can recall. There's only one complaint, but it's not really a complaint. But it would be nice if the sound volume of the APU was a little bit louder in external view. I used to fly the iFLY 737 for some time, and if you're in external view, you can actually hear the APU starting and running. It's pretty loud.
