  1. Looks good but I'm only using Linux.
  2. Not really. Ben mentionned recently: 60% Windows 30% Mac the rest for Linux.
  3. Looks good but as it does NOT support Linux I cannot buy it, sorry.
  4. Hi on KDE you have to turn a switch alike: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=ubuntu_1210beta_desktops&num=1 Or maybe try bleeding edge as some improvements are on the way.
  5. Yes I believe so. Back around in 2007 I've reported a bug and they answered to be already working on that and would test later with X-Plane. Anyway Nvidia runs perfectly not only X-Plane, Steam etc., but also FSX/FS9 on Wine/Ubuntu is a good experience. Yesterday's update was as easy as exit X and run the installer.
  6. http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTI1MDA Will update later today.
  7. Yea remember having to look up my v- and hsync frequency from Windows 98 to configure my X on Suse 5.3....They even gave a warning alike: wrong settings can damage your monitor! But luckily Linux has nicely evolved since, but yea was kind of fun at that time.
  8. Agreed, complete newbies should first install it in Virtualbox etc. Play around, try different desktops and even distributions, test your hardware and after a while, when you feel like playing 3D games (steam, x-plane etc.), you install it aside Windows. http://distrowatch.com/
  9. Nowadays Linux is pretty easy. Get Ubuntu, wich installs all necessary (need to update Nvidia?) drivers. I boot ALL main OS with Grub from several partitions. I've around 6 OS and after udpating an OS all I do is: sudo update-grub. It's also faster by around 5% to Win8 out of the box (Nvidia) without knowing of: http://www.phoronix...._desktops&num=1 With above you might get up to 10% speed increase to the latest Windows/drivers. I started using it after a virus destroyed all my data back on Windows 98 and had not even one alike problem since. In fact I only boot other os for recompiling stuff and of general interest.
  10. Yes a few. For ex. this one is very good: http://wiki.flightgear.org/Boeing_787-8_Dreamliner
  11. Yes nice but I wonder what is it? A war simulation or even a flight sim?
  12. What makes you think that I'm that person? Honestly, again you need a psy*. I'll never talk to you again, bye.
  13. SASL always worked fine, because it's kept within aircraft plugins! Only your gizmo made it crash because you kept your plugin globally in resources/plugins. Now instead of installing Gizmo into aircrafts like everybody else does, you decided to remain globally, even if it crashes lots of airplanes.- You even bothered Ben about this...which fits your profile. PS: Again and again those commercial members keep inundating the forum with links to their homepages.
  14. Hmm my old core duo doesn't seem much slower than that! Probably best would be to have only 4 cores but more speed on each? I don't know of any app using more than 3-4 cores. And even those remain mostly idle, being used only for background loading etc. Something alike one main core with 3 helper cores should be proposed to Intel/Amd?
  15. https://www.digitec.ch/ProdukteDetails2.aspx?Reiter=Details&Artikel=250200 Probably some cpus would run idle? How many CPUs does this setup feature? But FSX could use at least the two graphics cards?
  16. PS: Would X-Plane be able to make full use of the above link?
  17. Hmm so I first set ILS frequency before selecting an approach? - set frequency - select appr - activate appr - set ap to appr Than fly to first waypoint somehow, where it should catch automatically the appr? Thanks and regards
  18. Again, stop spamming about proprietary stuff that doesn't even support all OS.
  19. I've heard it crashes all the time, so congratulations that they've finally fixed at least that. But sorry, I'll never use it as it does not even support all OS.-
  20. 64bit made me buy additional 4GB Ram. But I was tempted by: https://www.digitec.ch/ProdukteDetails2.aspx?Reiter=Details&Artikel=250200 HaHa only joking, this would be about my budget for 5 PCs.
  21. Hi since I can fly FS9 in Wine/Ubuntu, I decided to fly an approach since ages again in FS9. But how to activate/fly that? Could someone give me all needed steps cronologically, given I fly over any big airport. Selecting approach etc. I'm currently stuck that I forgot how to catch the approach with the AP. Thanks
