A2A c172 and Flight Illusion gauges
OK, thanks for the reply. The problem is that the instruments will not display the correct values then. I ll ask in the air cockpit forum because some of them know how to list L:vars and combine them with LINDA to transfer them in FSUIPC so that the Simkits and/ or flight Illusion gauges display the correct values. Thanks Stephane

A2A c172 and Flight Illusion gauges
Hi folks, My home cockpit is based on Flight Illusion gauges similar to SimKits. I m totally new to LINDA and was wondering if something has been created for the 172 trainer to extract the correct instrument values so that the Flight Illusion gauges display the proper values? If so, could somoene explain me in details what to do because that s really obscur for me! Many thanks. Cheers Stephane

dsd_XML-sound - fuel pump sound in FS2004
stephane130281 replied to stephane130281's topic in FSX/FSX-SE Aircraft and Panel Design Forum - How ToNo way to make it work!! I'm a real beginner in XLM programation. Is there a way for you to write it for me? It will give me also an example for the futur sound I might implement in other projects. Hope you'll be able to do it. Thanks a million, Stéphane

dsd_XML-sound - fuel pump sound in FS2004
stephane130281 replied to stephane130281's topic in FSX/FSX-SE Aircraft and Panel Design Forum - How ToHi Jan, Thx for your advices. I've renamed the .wav file and modified the .ini file. But I think you meant the .XML file about the clickspot? If so, I can't do it simply because there is no .XML files, it is a .gau file instead (e.g. the defaut C172SP in FS9). Any advice to be able to open that kind of file? Thanks again for your precious help. Regards, Stéphane

dsd_XML-sound - fuel pump sound in FS2004
Dear all, I'm struggling to induce fuel pump sound in FS2004 by using the dsd_XML_sound gauge. Here is my dsd_XML_sound.ini file: [Config] MaxSounds=100 Lvar=dsd_xml_sound3 LvarStop=dsd_stop_sounds [LVars] Lvar00=GENERAL_ENG_FUEL_PUMP_ON [sounds] Sound00=./Sound/fuelpump.wav I've declared the dsd_XML_sound3.gau in the panel.cfg file, so the problem is not there but might be in the .ini file above. Basically, it should start the sound when the fuel pump is ON, but it does not! Anyone could help me doing this? Many thanks in advance for any help! Kind regards, Stéphane

My home cockpit (not finished yet)
Hi James, Glad to hear that you have the sim idea as mine! It is definitely a good setup design then!!! But on my side, my setup has been updated and I've replaced the three Saitek radio and PA panel with the Flight Illusion Bendix King radios which are awesome. I've also purchased the Go flight ATC module. Here few pictures of the sim:

Cool!! Thx for letting us know. Have fun now :Big Grin:

Saitek Pro Flight Switch Panel
I use FSX too, no problem with any of the Saitek module using SPAD only. The only issue I had was that the radio panel looks to turn into sleep mode after a while. I've discovered that it is needed to turn off the sleep function of the USB devices in the control panel. Maybe it is your problem....be aware that running both the SPAD drivers and Saitek drivers may cause serious instability and incompatibility! But it should work for you as It is actually working fine for me. Stéphane The easiest way to assign function to the switch panel is to use the keyboard emulation in SPAD. Assign the same key in FSUIPC corresponding to the function of the aircraft you want to control and this is it!

Saitek radio panel detents, frequency skips, etc.
FYI, I did not install the Saitek drivers...only the SPAD drivers, and everything works fine for me (radio panel, BIP, multi panel, switch panel, cessna pro yoke, rudder, TPM and trim wheel.

Default ATC (Air Traffic Control)... Anyone still use it?
:) It is nice to fly oceanic track! About the SELCAL, it would have been more realistic to ear it and then the pilot contact the control, but here it is the other way around. Maybe a suggestion for them for the next update?!

Deltaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :LMAO:

Saitek - FrankenYoke
Sorry for the confusion, effectively, that what I wanted to say: We can clearly feel the return tension when it approaches the neutrol zones. Far way of the neutral zone, the tension felt in the yoke is constant. Hope it is clearer now :)

Default ATC (Air Traffic Control)... Anyone still use it?
after reading you, I have the same remarks: IVAO would be fun and realistic but no more AI traffic and therefore traffic visible depends on number of people connected but also, some of the controllers and pilots have to a fu...microphone that make the communication very difficult to understand...and I won't mention the difference of sound intensity from one user to another. PFE delux could have been a great alternative but due to some bugs and limitations (I won't give example but 50% of my trials, the controller enters in a loop due to its own limitation), I don't use it anymore. My only alternative for IFR controlled flights is the great radar contact V4 which is very powerful, easy to use and quite realistic. The state of the art ATC is but it looks like it is only for X-plane 9. Stéphane

I put in fs9 last night after many years
I would be very interesting in your definition of fluidity. In FS, I consider a smooth animation with at least 35 to 40 FPS. Below you can feel that it's not running fast enough! I'm still running fs9 with my i7 850 and my ATI 5850, because under FSX (no tweak) I run a poor 20 FPS at Ajaccio for example with few clouds (REX2). Each version of FS are confortably flyable around 5 years after it has been released...it's a shame! So, it is old, but with the very good sceneries like the German airports, Vienna...etc, it is visually better than FSX with my configuration...so I can understand her post! It's gonna open another topic: the use of multicore CPUs, I have a quad core CPU which is not used at 100% of its capacity with FS! Why?

Saitek - FrankenYoke
Hi Hed, Here is my option (pro flight yoke: PZ44): 1) The aileron AND elevator are equipped with spring to get each axis back to neutral position 2) But my opinion is that the spring are too strong. Having an accurate control of the elevator axis with one hand is not easy and therefore, the movements are not so smoothed. The aileron axis is much more smooth but I found it not pleasant to use it especially near the neutral position. Indeed, you can feel "hard points" near either side of the neutral zone. It has only 45° left and right... The cessna pro yoke is much better than the PZ44. Very smooth even near the neutral zone and easy to have accurate movements with only one hand...and it has 90° of rotation L and R so 180° of total rotation improving a lot the precision and accuracy. Regards, Stéphane

VRInsight Prop Cockpit Trainer
Hi Luca, I don't own the prop cockpit trainer simply because I don't like the aspect of the radio modules. I've bought the pro pit panel which is basically the same thing as the prop cockpit trainer for the flight instruments. The switches and the yoke look great but haven't tried them. The TPM (throttle, propoller and mixture) looks basic, I prefer the real touch of the Saitek TPM. Regarding the flight instruments, I guess it is the same as the pro pit panel. But you have to know that it basically uses the defaut instrument of flight simulator. This means that the instrument have low resolution which is even worse as they are expanded to fit the holes of the VR Insight panel. Their animation is not smooth either. It can use the carenado instruments if you have a carenado aircraft installed on your computer. The solution for me was to buy the reality XP flight N & T to replace the defaut flight instruments of flight simulator. You will get ultra high resolution instruments and very smooth and accurate. But you need to know how to modify the panel.cfg file in order to set the correct size of the instruments at the correct place. It is time consuming so that the instruments are correctly placed to fit the holes of the panel. But once it is done, it is awesome to use. My opinion is that this config is not an ideal price/quality. Finally, it is just a TFT monitor behind a shell with knobs on it. I think the price is really to high compared to what you actually get. For this price, I would rather go for simkit instruments whose prices have decreased a bit since they've been launched on the market. For example, you can buy this module for the avionic: http://www.simw.com/...p-bkav-set.html and combine simpit instruments with saitek cessna yoke and TPM. You will have almost the same price but a even higher quality! Hope this helps, Stéphane

My home cockpit (not finished yet)
Thanks Rhydian! Your "Primary 6 flight Sim project" looks very fine, I will have a look to have more details! I think you have your answer now but just in case; from top to bottom, it is the fuel selector lever, cowl flaps and finally the parking brakes. It is a temporary solution as I'd like to open the throttle to do a kind of "do it yourself' command for each of them. I want a more realism touch which is not the case with this solution even though it is very usefull! Hi Andrew, nice to see you over here! :Peace:

Saitek radio panel detents, frequency skips, etc.
dunno about the Saitek drivers...let me have a look in SPAD forum! Stephane Edit: Found on SPAD forum. Answer from Massimo (conceptor of SPAD): "go to your "control panel"/"add-remove programs" and uninstall only: "Saitek Pro Flight Panels""

Windshear on final - awesome video
Hi all, I was surfing on Youtube and found this one: Amazing windshear at 50ft above ground. Could have been a disaster...good pilot reflex and a lot of chance! PS: If it was already posted before, sorry I missed it... Stéphane

Saitek radio panel detents, frequency skips, etc.
Hi Andrew, SPAD is your solution:http://fstools.weebl...m/download.html De install your Saitek drivers, and install SPAD. It will install its own drivers and you can customize plenty of functions which are not available by defaut. Try this and let us know if that solved your issue! Here a non exhaustive lists of improvements brought: Compatibility with addon aircraft supporting keystrokes and virtual joystick button (using Peter Dowson's FSUIPC) - Improved knobs sensitivity with tunable acceleration - Additional features like altimeter barometric regulation - Many bugs fixed (missed glide slope in FS2004, Nav1 switch etc.) - Much better stability Regards, Stephane

Saitek Pro Flight Switch Panel
Hi, All the switches of the TPM can be assigned via FSUPIC. FOr example, I use one switch in the up position to turn off the Audio ident of VOR1 and the down position to turn ON the audio Ident of VOR1. Another example is that I use one switch for COM1 and COM2. COM1 when the switch is in up position and COM2 when the switch is in down position. For the switch panel, it looks like you don't know the SPAD drivers yet!! Go here http://fstools.weebly.com/download.html and download the last version. With SPAD, you don't need anymore the Saitek driver (it is recommand to de install the Saitek's drivers before installing SPAD). You can setup all what you want and map anything you want (key emulation, FSUIPC entries.....Etc). If you have the radio panel from Saitek, it also solves the bug of the switch button of the COM1. You can set plenty of things that improve a lot the Saitek panels. Have fun now! :) Stéphane
