April 14, 201214 yr and WOW was it fun and fast, i put in some payware "cls" and "pmdg" aircraft and some scenery/texture addons and fs9 blew me away with 70 to 100 fps(on the runway ot KJFK with MAX Traffic) with max settings. My home city even looked better than it did in fsx, i'm confused on that, lol. Even night time looked better for me than fsx and i loved the street textures, road signs and street lights. I'm not sure i saw road signs in fsx. It was all so smooth with no stutters at all, it was even smoother than FLIGHT. Now it's time to get the credit card out and buy REX for fs9. :yahoo:
April 14, 201214 yr That's bad :( FSX with that hardware and three or four tweaks (the real ones, not the ones people make up) should literally fly. Now you have to cope with a simulator from when people thought earth was flat and miss out on all the good stuff :( CASE: Fractal Terra Silver CPU: AMD R5 7800X3D 5.0Ghz RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 GPU: nVidia RTX 4070 Ti SUPER · SSDs: Samsung 990 PRO 2TB M.2 PCIe · PNY XLR8 CS3040 2TB M.2 PCIe · VIDEO: LG-32GK650F QHD 32" 144Hz FREE/G-SYNC · MISC: Thrustmaster TCA Airbus Joystick + Throttle Quadrant · MSFS2024 · Windows 11
April 14, 201214 yr i haven't tweaked the .cfg file yet, lol i didn't know i could. i will google it later.

April 14, 201214 yr Nothing, I mean, nothing is bad getting back to fs9.. I wouldn't call it bad if a musician played delta blues as it is the root of popular music nowadays.. Simple logic However.. Welcome back :)
April 14, 201214 yr If its just four, you can tell us ! 1) nVidia limited framerate 2) [bufferPools] UsePools=0 3) [GRAPHICS] HIGHMEMFIX=1 TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096 4) [DISPLAY] TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=90 UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=0 This will get you going, for real, with the indicated hardware. nVidia cards are much better for FSX by the way. On a side note, i have a "simple" laptop that runs FSX at 1920x1200 with minor stuttering with addon sceneries, NGX, the works. Sometimes when there's heavy weather i get some stuttering, but that's normal on a lappie. My desktop is a whole different story though. FS9 is just TOO old, i can't even look at it anymore I'm not trying to start an FS9/FSX battle here, it's just that it is a shame with such good hardware to run an older and outdated sim with hardly any GOOD scenery and A/C updates in the horizon. April 14, 201214 yr Fsx/fs9 battle? Shame? How could you address one who has chosen what to do and how to enjoy this hobby with such strong word? However, fsx/fs9 battle with strong words is only for toddlers, we here are learning to appreciate and respect other people's choices/opinions with good manner.
April 14, 201214 yr Misinterpretation... Shame to waste the hardware. Whatever whoever chooses is up to him/her, i don't want to nor drive anyone's opinion. April 14, 201214 yr three or four tweaks (the real ones, not the ones people make up) May I suggest you post these tweaks "the real ones, not the ones people make up" in the FSX forum and make it a "Sticky" thread. Every time I read the FSX forums, all I see are poor FPS/shutter posts on very high end PC's clocked at 4.5GHZ. You'd help many many people with these real tweaks made up by who? people? RJ
April 14, 201214 yr My work is done here, there's too many sensitive people for my liking. As i said above, i don't want to nor drive anyone's opinion. Take care. April 14, 201214 yr i don't want to nor drive anyone's opinion. Then why type things like these: Now you have to cope with a simulator from when people thought earth was flat and miss out on all the good stuff or Shame to waste the hardware Looks like now and again one FSX fan must come to the FS9 forum and stir the pot. What for? Can't we just respect each other and our choices? Is it so hard for some? Mine is better than yours?
April 14, 201214 yr There's a lot of life left in FS9, so I'm glad you're enjoying it. Try the Eaglesoft Twinstar at FS DreamTeam KLAX if you want to use your great system to the fullest. I stick with FS9 because it still looks and works well on three-to-four- year-old hardware, and the thought of all the environment add-ons I'd have to repurchase for FSX makes me want to take a nap (of course, that may be encroaching middle-age talking). :LMAO: John G.
April 15, 201214 yr holy cow, lol- in a Carenado V35 GA plane i am getting 150 -200fps over my home city of Montreal at max settings with REX, wow! With Captain Sim 757 and ifly 737ng i get 50-70fps. I'm really starting to enjoy these buttery smooth fast fps flights compared to my usual 20-40fps in fsx.
April 15, 201214 yr I find this thread great, and i'm very glad that the OP is getting such awesome results. In my opinion, it'd be nicer to fill FS9 with great addons rather than struggle with FSX with a few addons and tweaks. Understandably the OP's hardware should run FSX nicely but she seems very happy and that's all anyone can ask for. Let's not have a battle of opinions here? Sam Nicholson - UK Only just got back in to flight simming and Avsim after a year or so - pardon me whilst I find my feet again!
