  1. Surely people wouldn't fall for this,  since  you have to apply first to be in the beta testing  stage  and you will be  notified by email   if your Successful thtas  the way o look at it  and I doubt  any one  in here at avsim  would fall for it :P

Alas the one born every minute adage is still very much applicable. Here on Avsim we have an intelligent and dedicated group of enthusiasts who help sort out scams like this but with flight sim become ever more popular, particularly with the younger generations, there will be any number of people that won't realise this is a scam. That's why these evil little schemes continue to exist

  2. All but the C90 are junk and most payware addons are also. IMO, the FSx default planes are overall much better. that default C130 in X-plane is a joke at best! I own the FlyJSim 727 and 737, there decent but maybe 1/2 of what the Milzv, CaptainSim are in terms of visual quality. Their Q400 compared to ther FSX Magestic Dash 8 is, well cant compare. Of course , my opinion and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

You will have to spend most your life downloading airport Objects as all that is included is the taxi and runways. At least 99% of the Airports I fly to anyway.

I am still trying to decide whether you are deliberately trolling for an angry response, because I am pretty sure you are going to get one

  3. As a Beta tester for SkyMaxx 2.0 I can say these clouds go way beyond REX. REX is very pretty but at the end of the day they are not 3 dimensional volumetric like these clouds. When you fly into SkyMaxx clouds you half expect to hear the whoosh sound that you get in reality  Not only that, the SkyMaxx clouds move and rotate in the sky and cast shadows on land and water. There is also crespular rays and lens flare effects.

I have put together a gallery of X-Plane shots, most of which use SkyMaxx Pro 2.0 clouds, and a lot of which are actually using the low resolution puffs, there is an option for high resolution puffs that has minimal or no frame rate hit on my rig.

  4. SkyMaxx is still not a weather injector, it relies on X-Plane for the weather information so will only represent what it gets.  The news stuff in version 2.0 is excellent though. Most notably cloud shadows and lens flare as well as more realistic clouds. The lens flare is switchable if it is not to your taste. I have found even more performance increases over default clouds as well

  5. From the psychological aspect, I observe a very interesting phenomenon here (although annoying for non-psychologists): a “very special species” of a forum (let’s say group A) are trickling from time to time in a subforum where usually users of a different product (let’s say group B ) are communicating and helping each other. As I am not a professional psychologist - not even hobby psychologist, I never was able to fathom the reasons for such action (let’s call it “generating bad atmosphere”) from group A. Possibly it helps to feel better?

Strangely, you won’t find users of group B in the subforum of group A to generate bad atmosphere (e.g. with “OOM”, “stutters”, “low fps”, “not sustainable/no 64 bit”, “CTD”,  “deficient flight modeling”, “2D billboard clouds”, “blurry textures”, “ineffective UI”, “poor winter simulation”, you name it). I don’t know why it is this way - probably because group B isn’t in a sore need of it?

I would be very glad, if someone could explain to me the above mentioned phenomenon (and “non-phenomenon” respectively), as I twisted my mind like hell, but wasn’t able to find the solution. Am I on the right path with my above assumption “Possibly it helps to feel better?” I don’t want to extend the discussion – a simple answer (my suggestion is “yes” rofl_2.gif) would be sufficient.

As it was already said (and proven by reality), it is absolutely superfluous to start such discussions again and again, as it will lead to nothing - except generating bad atmosphere and wasting everyone’s time. There is so much more out there, what is worth spending time on it - e.g. reading a book, gardening, (real) flying, drinking a glass of good wine, visiting friends, sunbathing (don’t forget the sun blocker), fu..ing  , … . Why not starting right NOW?

Where's the like, funny and agree buttons when you need them:) I will have to make do with a +1

  6. Love the SIG  Get Real! Get X-Plane!   OMG LOL!!!!   Should say Get real Fly Real!  ;)   I fly real planes, sorry all the sims fall short, and I own and fly all 3 and you wouldn't like my answer to which one is closest.

    Happy Flying

Yes because we are all in the financial or health position to fly planes. Arrogant answer in my opinion and does nothing for this post. Off you trot and fly your real planes and we will stick with our virtual ones.

  7. I'd say the biggest problem with XPlane is the development speed. I remember buying it in the 90s when it was Mac only.

Today they are on version 10, but honestly not a whole lot has changed over a 20 years.

That's, IMHO an absurd statement. Take a look at this images I posted recently and tell me if this looks like a 20 year old sim.
