  1. Thanks for the update, I certainly hope that a Mac version is produced, I believe Mac users represent about 30% of the X-Plane base, a significant percentage. I for one would buy this product on Mac.

For now, it's Windows platform only. Mac OS X under consideration.

I doubt a Linux version would ever happen. Linux users tend to be tech savvy and would rather program things themselves. You can hardly get them to buy any software  :P

We're not aware of any viable royalty free speech engine that could be used with any Linux Distro either.

    Hope this helps

  2. Whilst PMDG are undoubtably the at the pinnacle of  FSX developers, we should remember that the current crop of extremely talented X-Plane developers have kind of stolen a march, as they already know the X-Plane code inside out. PMDG are learning from scratch and have already suggested their first product will not be one of their more complex aircraft.

I agree, as yet X-Plane does not have a PMDG level aircraft, but some the ones that it does have are coming mighty close. The IXEG 737 Classic may well prove to surpass anything we have yet seen from PMDG.

What is certain is that we X-Plane pilots live in exciting times.

  3. Take a look at SkyMaxx. Its not a direct replacement for REX as it does not have weather injection. What it does provide is great looking, three dimensional, moving rotating clouds. They cast shadows on the land and reflect in water. Also for many people SkyMaxx boosts FPS. It really is one of the go to add ons for X-Plane

  4. First of all 10.31 is a very different sim to 10.1, there have been many upagrades to textures, flight modelling and of course its now 64bit.

In terms of your specific questions you may be disappointed, but if you go beyond that, you may be wonderfully surprised.

There are no season textures implimented although there are a couple of third part work arounds that you can read about in this forum.

There is now around 700-800 lego brick airports, all of which look significantly better than FSX default airports in my opinion. On top of that, the quality and quantity of freeware and payware airports at places like x-plane.org has significantly improved

No default ATC improvements although again there was a work around to using an FSX based ATC on X-Plane, cannot remember which one but think it was talked about here.

Don't know about FSPax so cannot answer that one

There are some excellent tubeliners available, some of them getting close to PMDG levels, andseveral in development. One of those may well redefine all simulated aircraft in any sim, the IGEX 737 Classic.

With the addition of some freeware hd mesh and OSM and photo sceneries, X-Plane can look visually stunning

  5. There are not aiming to put every Youtube troll in jail, they are trying to reduce the number of highly personal and offensive attacks against individuals. In the UK they have been doing this for a while, a number of people have been prosecuted for hateful comments on Facebook memorial pages.

  6. Yes, the Saab is probably the most frame rate heavy X-Plane aircraft but probably the most complex too. I believe 19fps is the point where X-Plane slows things down, but if you tweak your configuration so that the Saab in heavy scenery is above 20fps, then virtually everything else will run well over 20fps. Also 20fps looks more smoother than 40-50 locked in FSX or P3D.

  7. Carenado only give something like 3 downloads and one time my Download accelerator used multiple connections and took my downloads left to zero. The Org gives unlimited downloads and email notifies when there are updates.

If I look at this video one more time, I might change my mind though.

Fair points, I didn't realize Carenado had limited downloads.
