  1. No matter the news is true or not, I think 2D panels are very important for many flight simmers. Today there are still a lot of people flying with their 2D panel, because of computer performance, better usability and better efficiency. Not everyone has a powerful hardware especially for PMDG products, which requires even more hardware resources. As a single pilot in FSX, 2D panels helps me do anything pretty fast by getting more information than 3d just on one screen(without switching views). Anyway, VC-only is not a good idea for many simmers, and I highly suggest PMDG to make a good panel.
  2. Very nice. I am going to put my rxp wx radar into service. Now I can request route offset from ATC and it sounds more realistic and professional right? :(

  4. You need a external GPS source for iPad and it's definitely less convenient than an EFB. In real world EFB (as well as iPad) makes viewing charts and calculating performance data much easier and more efficient. Although it is not a necessity but that sometimes worth it. Anyway, we don't need an EFB in flight sim since that is neither practical nor possible for now.
  5. Well Boeing 777 is Fly-by-wire and PMDG is making it possible in FSX. I own Wilco A320 series and I find it very acceptable for its system and FBW simulation. I have not flied the real aircraft so I cannot say its FBW is realistic. However, compared with Aerosoft's Airbus X, the Wilco one is easier and more comfortable to fly, and of course I am enjoying it.
  6. Sometimes PDFKneeboard crashes when opening a bigger PDF file, so I don't use it anymore. Oh I have to memorize hundreds of steps to fly my 737NGX. Believe me, you can remember those procedures after a few flights.
  7. I am using REX for textures, themes and Active Sky for weather. I don't know how good is Active Sky 2012 so waiting for a review is better. Don't use REX for weather since there are some problems.
  8. FSX's "lessons" helps a lot. There are some basic but important knowledge/skills in those articles. If you have read all of them and you want to learn more, FAA's Aircraft Flying Handbook is a good free resource.
  9. Not many liveries are available, but merge is a way. You can merge A320 series with PA's, A330/340 with Thomas Ruth's.http://www.wilcopub.com/simulator-add-on/airbus-jetliners-collection-airbus-series-evolution-vol-1-vol-2.html
  10. Yeah it's not perfect but actually you can't find out what is bad, just not perfect enough. Anyway you will enjoy it if not asking for PMDG standards.
  11. I've tried both aerosoft and wilco airbus. First, Wilco's system simulation is the most complete one so far. Most systems are modeled, just not every system. After evo is released, most bugs are fixed and the aircraft works pretty well. The only thing bad for wilco is exterior model, but you can merge with PA's A320/Thomas ruth's A330/340, ect. I personally think wilco's VC is even more realistic than Aerosoft's one. I think you would agree that CLS's VC is the most realistic one( the cockpit environment, colors...), and the wilco's is also similar (except excessive reflections). I know aerosoft airbus x is nice-looking, but that does not mean it is the most realistic.
  12. It would be more convenient to "hold" F2 to engage reverse thrust.
  13. I think I should be fine with Wilco airbus. I understand they are not the best but they are the only choice. Sometimes I just need different flight experience so... that's fine. Thank you.
  14. Anyway thanks for your opinion. I was a long haul bird with PSS 777 before. After moving to FSX, I need to find another aircraft for long hual, but maybe I will not fly it very very often. Although there is no airbus addon which can be compared to PMDG's quality, I think Wilco is the better one by now. Airbuses are charming and interesting, too. :(
  15. Thanks your information is helpful. I did some research and I have learned how to merge with another exterior model. Maybe I will take your advice, will merge Wilco VC+ Thomas Ruth models. If the first question does not exist, then I will not worry too much. (Because I have experienced similar problem form Wilco.)
  16. I don't expect wilco to match pmdg's standards, of course. I know some systems are not simulated, like a few buttons on overhead panel or something else. I just want to check if there is any significant or annoying bug which will bring me great inconvenience. I want to fly airbus...
  17. Recently, I am finding a new aircraft for long hual. How do you think about Wilco's airbus series evo vol.2? I know it's systems are the most realistic by now, although 3D modeling is not very nice. Having tried A380 from wilco a few months ago, I have several questions to ask:1) Is there still annoying FCDU bug which will lead to a "holding" while no holding is commanded?2) I would like a merge with CLS or Project Airbus. Someone can give me a well-operating merge(with VC)?3) How about performance data like fuel consumption, range, TO/LDG distance, and brakes, ect. Thanks for your suggestion.
  18. MS flight looks like a total tragedy!!!!!Is it no more than Google earth and only Hawaii??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Do you mean your A340's panel.cfg looks like this:[fltsim]alias=Airbus_A321panelIf so, your A340 panel should be exactly the same with A321. But it is possible that there is a conflict between the model and A321 panel. You can download Thomas Ruth's A340 from Avsim library and reinstall it.
  20. Was your FSX working fine? What add-on aircraft, utility, scenery did you installed? Are you using win7 and crash when you click menu bar?Maybe this one lead to the CTD - uiautomationcore.dll
  21. WARNING:PDF kneeboard can sometimes cause a CTD in FS9 and X.
  22. Thanks very much, Christian.Tileproxy is definitely fantastic.
