  1. I consider you should only switch to local QNH when passing TL. If I am correct, the XPDR send altitude data to ATC. If your altimeter setting is incorrect, ATC gets wrong altitude data if you. That can be really dangerous. Don't try to do this.Anyway we can enter QNH in DES Forecast page. That is helpful.
  2. Make sure your file is "fsinn.cfg" not "fsinn.cfg.txt".
  3. Thanks for replies.I just reinstalled my FSX today. Everything sould be fine right now.
  4. Two days before, I was flying in FSX and I got a error message called "failed to read from file". After I repaired FSX using the original DVD, that error was solved. I installed FSX-SP1 successful then. However, when I am going to install SP2, the installer did not finish the installation. It said "caching files" then "rolling back action". I've tried to defrag the disk, reboot, and use CCleaner. Nothing helps.I did a research but get no conclusion. Anyone can help me without fully uninstalling FSX?
  5. In this case the brakes should not be overheated. Imagine a rejected takeoff with the same condition, everything should work fine without fail the brakes. I know I may use flaps 40 instead next time. Thanks for your reply. I will check FMC failure page next time when reload a flight.
  6. I have 2 failures in FMC - "Brakes failed" and "Excessive brake heat". The brake temperature is in yellow bar.I really consider this is because of my reload of this flight.
  7. Just made a landing at KMIA, but brakes don't work!!!Since runway 26R is only 8600ft and my LDGWT=138.4(1000LB), I used autobrake Max and flaps 30 for landing. Vref is 146+5=151kt. Wind is calm. After touchdown, I engaged reverse thrust until 60 knots, speedbrake deployed since it was armed. However, brakes don't anymore (in fact I am not sure it works before or not). Why?This flight was reloaded from a saved panel state. Can this cause the problem?
  8. I have some problem too. Sometimes the screen freezes and then a "fatal error" or "run out of memory" occur. I experience small freezes when I am 200-0 ft above runway (during a approach). While this happens every time, it sometimes crashes. I think it is because a overload of computer resources, but that cannot explain such a problem. I use:- Win 7 SP1 - No ENB- latest graphics driverSomeone can help me?
  9. I suggest FSBuild. With it you can do this calculation by only entering ALT, and FSBuild calculates for you.
  10. Thanks Ryan. I will try it out.
  11. After uninstalling my PMDG 747X, my PMDG icon seemed to be removed as well. The missing icon is located in D:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X\PMDG\Icons. Where can I download it ? I don't want to reinstall the NGX and sp1a, b, c...
  12. Very awesome. With METAR + Wind aloft + Auto update + FPL calculation, it is professional enough to make any flight and calculate fuel accurately (with calculated average headwind). Thanks for the developers for this freeware. Completely cool!
  13. It's strange that there are only flaps 5 charts in FCOM.
  14. I prefer ILS approach because the lower DH. I have only used RNAV App once (when ILS is usable) in FSX. In that flight I had a Nav failure and ILS doesn't work.
  15. I prefer to watch outside at about 100' while scaning the VSI and airspeed indicator. I mostly land with the following procedures:100' - Switch my eyes to the runway touchdown zone. Check airspeed and decent rate50' - Check airspeed and decent rate again30' - Set throttle to idle position smoothly. If your airspeed is high, you may reduce thrust earlier. If airspeed is low, don't move the thrust lever until 20 or 10 feet.25 - 20' - Flare by pulling the yoke. How much do you pull depends on your vertical speed. Also, if your are descending fast, flare earlier. 10' - Stabilize v/s to about -300fpm. Continue flare to about -100fpm. If there is wet runway, strong crosswind, or an emergency, you may want to keep this v/s until touchdown. Touchdown - V/S is Normally around -100fpm. After touchdown, gently lower you nose gear. Don't keep you nose wheel in the air or the landing distance will be long. Note that a long flare will result in long landing distance. Safety is the most important thing.
  16. FSBuild too. It can automatically generate a flight plan alone with SID/STAR based on shortest distance. Also it calculates fuel for you. Due to various wind speed at high altitude( especially jet stream), FSBuild is highly accurate. I haven't flown without it since I installed it.
  17. Oh is this function available for FSInn+NGX? I had never heard about this.
  18. Wind data is mainly for FMC to calculate performance data (ETA, fuel, etc), especially when you are performing a long-haul. I know that in real world the data is transmitted through ACARS datalink, but unfortunately in flight sim there is no datalink for you. I have FSBuild and Active Sky so FSBuild gives me a dispatch release including all ETA, fuel prediction, and wind dir/spd at each waypoint. Entering wind data into FMC is time-consuming and not necessary unless fuel is not enough (or you think it might not be enough). I have never tried to do it.
  19. Isn't there already a 727 from captainsim? You guys are greedy. PMDG needs 100 years to finish all listed aircrafts here.
  20. Well I think a EFB will take a lot of time to develop. But I would love to see a performance calculation tool to be included in 777(TO/LDG distance, TO thrust, etc). :(
