  1. BK2000-Not tried this but might work in XP9 http://forum.avsim.net/topic/429684-xp-planner-loading-a-flightplan-in-the-default-gns-430/ Ok, after a few days experimenting the closest I can get to filing plan with waypoints in XP9 ATC is to choose VFR, if you do this it will let you fly a flight plan without mithering you about the route, but it won;t give you vectors to final on approach. It's a bit of a trade off. It would be great if there was a way of interfacing RC4 with XP9 but from what I gather progress got stuck with that one. Any other suggestions? Paul
  2. I have recently installed XP9 as a replacement for FS9. My PC could not run the XP10 demo but XP9 works a treat,I am really impressed with the performance. Its definitely more "hands on" with little to assist and its interesting having to develope flight plans without assistance. The ATC is OK too, in terms of vectors to finals, certainly no worse than the FS9 default. However what I can't work out is how to submit a flight plan with waypoints to the ATC. I can see how to submit direct routes, but if I try and fly via navaids etc (which you have to on longer flights) it will tell me that i Am off course. Its strange that the atc wont accept multi leg flights when you can put them into the FMC/GPS. Does anyone have a work around for this? Thanks, Paul
  3. Ok, great, thanks. Can I go back and install more of the world at a later date if I don't want to install it all at once?
  4. I have installed the XP9 demo from the website (I tried XP10 but was a bit too heavy for my elderly PC) and it runs really well, better than FSX or P3D, so I've ordered a copy from Amazon UK. The demo seems to be a time limited version of the full thing with limited scenery installed. It checks to see if the disc is inserted before starting the clock, so what I'm wondering is will I have to uninstall the demo and then install the full thing from disc, or can I just install the scenery that I want to use (I'll only be flying UK initially) on top of the demo and run it with disc 1 in the PC? That would save some time if possible. Also, if I later want to install additional scenery from the other discs later, am I able to do this, or do I have to install all the scenery that I'm ever going to use on the initial installation? Thanks, Paul

  6. I've been running it the last 4 months or so. It has Metars, Upper Air levels with wind and temps and as far as I can tell the weather stations it reports from (I only use UK&Europe) are the correct ones. It runs brilliantly with p3d and like I say, I use REX clouds with it and its lovely. It's been completely error free. I had issues with REX, taking ages to load and then crashing or freezing and not injecting weather into the sim which is why I sought out alternatives. No harm in trying it is there? You won't break anything.
  7. PRO ATC. Have stuck with this through months of updates, because of the outlay. Extortionate cost for something so unfinished. Better than it was, but still not as good as RC4 which I really wish I'd stuck with.
  8. I use FSRealWX lite. Free, fast to load and easy on the FPS. I used REX but it took forever to load so am using REX textures with this one.
  9. I ran winRAR with admin privs and that did the job in the end. Thank you!
  10. Jon, I have recently been doing low flights (5000-6000FT in a Flight1 172) with FS9, as I've installed the software updates as recommended on here and am preferring the smooth FPS with FS9 over the higher quality textures of P3D. I used have a problem where by if I turned my viewing position quickly (I use Track IR), the tiles on the ground near to the plane would be definitely very blurry and then sharpen into focus over 2-3 seconds which looked weird and clunky. I've made the suggested .cfg amendments and this has definitely stopped, the tiles are always in focus. Unless one of the new addons has somehow addressed the issue (I installed GEPro over the old GE at the same time), the .cfg adjustments have definitely made a difference, it's not a placebo. Paul
  11. Hiya, I've been having real trouble with this. Have unloaded all of the zip files, backed up existing voices to a folder and then tried to unzip MW files into Winwood as per instructions. My OS would not allow me the permission to do this (W7 64bit). So then I unzipped all of the files to a folder and then copied and pasted the contents of that folder to Winwood but it seems to get stuck, it makes no progress on pasting at all, doesn't ask me for permission to replace files etc. There's usually no issue pasting large selections of files on my machine, I've copied larger external GD backups to the internal HD before. Has anyone any suggestions how I can work around this? Thanks, Paul
  12. Hi folks, Thanks for the tips on here. Those changes to the config file definitely worked for me in eliminating blurries near the aircraft. Have started experimenting with adding airlines and flightpaths from WOAI and editing existing Traffic 2005 data, all looking good so far, I can't imagine a world without Ryanair GEPro is a step up from GE and Zinertech water and Airport textures are great. Those tree texture replacements are cool, not up to P3D density but better and a lot nicer looking. And best of all... I don't drop to a teeth grinding 7FPS on approach like I did with P3D. Roll on a bigger better PC for that purpose but until then, FS9 is looking much much better. Thanks again, especially to Dillon, Paul
  13. Thanks but can't find them! Can you give us a link please, had a look on Avsim file library and the net for both, no joy
  14. Ok, one last quick one. Is there a package anywhere which improves the trees in FS9? The variety and look of them in FSX/P3D is better and I do quite a bit of low flying so it makes a difference. That'll be it then, nice looking sim with good FPS, who could ask for anything more?
  15. That's great, thanks folks. I'm not entirely clear re the mechanics of AI traffic, is there no conflict or difficulties caused when using two or more traffic programs simultaneously? (I know I'm slewing way off topic here!)
  16. Ok, thanks Dillon. I'll stick with what I have then and spend my money on an ATC update! Re. FS9.75 where to go after GEPro, AS6.5 (with replacement cloud graphics), Zinertek Water and Airports, Traffic 2005 (in my case, is there a more up to date one for FS9?), what do you recommend next?
  17. When I went to the big European exhibition at Lelystad I was surprised how any rigs were still using FS9 for heavys, especially where people had PCs networked. It was the vast majority.
  18. I've another question on a similar theme. I've been using P3D for a few months, but as my computer really struggles with it, I've decided to go back to FS9 while I save for a more powerful PC. The one thing I liked about P3D was the organic feel of turbulence sometimes it felt like you were being buffeting around in the sky by thermals and bursts of winds. For weather I was using Real WxLite as it ws the only weather program that my PC seemed to be able to handle comfortably. Now on FS9, even with AS6 it feels like running on rails with the occasional burst of turbulence as set in the AS6 options. Does ASE provide a more (for want of a better word) chaotic, realistic turbulence as per P3D (with Real WxLite)? Is it better in this respect than AS6?
  19. Crikey, I didn't mean to open that EULA can of worms again! I used GE in FS9 and thought that it represented a significant improvement over the default textures, the availability of GEX was a lead story on the front page and that's what piqued my interest. From that story posted by F1, it's clear that the ongoing licensing issues are causing some serious fractiousness in a few places (..and that's a really weird story, especially involving a member of staff). Looking forward to GEP3D, and hoping that the extra development requirements mentioned in the first article don't push the price up too much.
  20. Great, I'll wait for the release. Seems like its a little behind schedule though. Thanks for that, Paul
  21. If so, how do I install in P3D if FSX is installed as well? (I don't want to install it in FSX)
  22. PROATCX is the only purchase that I regret. I'm sure that it will be great when it's finished but it's currently running a the rate of around one update/bug fix per week. It's slowly getting there but is still a long way from being ready for the market and beggars belief that it was released in the summer! Virtually every other product which I've bought for FS9/P3D has surpassed expectations, done what it has promised to do and often more. It's fantastic that even in an environment where there is not really a mainstream mass-market flightsim currently in developement (XPlane and P3D are great, but both niche products really, for different reasons) that the market for addons is so healthy and that the quality is so good on the whole.
  23. Yes, another one here. thanks Maarten, this is an absolutly brilliant solution, far better than the default FSX one. A proper Xmas gift! Thanks again, Paul
