  1. There's absolutely no sign of the veracity of either assertion. It's simply not ready for release. I have the latest updates, problems as I described still exist and support is poor. I would implore everyone to put off buying this until it's ready. I feel like an idiot for not heeding the plentiful warnings of others on the AVSIM forum about this product. At the moment it's a £40 stress-related headache, and nothing else.
  2. Let us know how you get on. I have it working fine, but I had it already installed for FS9 and just changed the flt plan paths and installed (I'll get it right this time!) FSUIPC into P3D.
  3. How are finding it in other respects? Are you hitting finals at 120000ft? Are you promised vectors that never transpire? Are you constantly badgered to expedite your climb to an altitude you've been holding for half of the flight? Do you ever hear back from them if you try to contact them? Have you completely wasted £40? Sorry to rant, but this is the only time I've ever felt genuinely ripped off by a FS product, it's half finished at best, I didn't know it was normal to have to pay to beta test things...
  4. No, just install it as it stands, make sure the path to the flight plans is right and that you have Downson's FCUISIP (I always forget the right title for that!) installed.
  5. Yes, that might be the way forward. I'll have a shop around for a copy of FSX. Am I best avoiding 2nd hand copies because of online registration issues? I did port over my FS9 Flight1 172 which surprisingly works! It looks great in VC mode but doesn;t work 2d as the POV from the front is looking at the ground! Also there's a big frame rate hit, but the flight model works fine. Thanks for your help.
  6. I don't think this kind of discusion is very helpful. It's not of any practical use at all. If this discussion has any implications at all, they are not helpful ones. P3D is what it is and the conditions of use are what they are. If it ain't broke don't fix it and it ain't broke.
  7. Hiya, I've gone from FS9 to P3D without having FSX at any point. My favourite GA for procedural training is a Cessna 172 but apart from the option of porting over the default FSX one (which I don't have) are there any modern 172's (I'm aware of the Caranedo one, but I would like modern avionics, autopilot etc) available for P3D? Will the A2A one have a P3D installer when it come out or are there any other options? Thanks, Paul
  8. Hiya, look at the thread on weather engines and the slight difference in depicted range between FSX and F3D causing a fog effect when using AS (and RealWXlite) . I find this happens and when that fog is on the ground, I get a dip in frame rates during final (as well as everything looking blue!). I tend to turn off the weather when this happens.
  9. I've been experimenting with various other weather programs. Open Sky I found, only generated one type of cloud, who's correct scientific term is "the grey sausage cloud". Much better is FSRealWX lite, which is what I am now using, although it does have a tendency to stick a bit when loading the weather. FSPS P3D Extreme booster offered no performance improvements to me at all and was a waste of money, although others may have found it works in certain circumstances. Gradually, through tweeking with it myself, I'm starting to get some v good and consistent performance out of P3D, it's a wonderful piece of software. As an aside, does anyone know how Carenado's 172 works with P3D? It's not listed for P3D, only FSX at the moment
  10. I am running P3D on a fairly low spec machine alongside REX and RC4 On the whole, performance is ok, around 15-25 FPS, but drops dramatically with cloudy weather in REX to around 5 FPS, RC4 also misses a lot of calls when REX is running, the system can't quite cope... I bought FSPS P3D Extreme booster in the hope that this would improve performance, but REX cannot run inside it as it runs it as admin, and it asks me to buy my P3D REX license again, so I run REX seperately with P3D running inside the booster, and REX outisde and this is slower than ever as, I guess, it's running on extra program which burdens the processor. What is the booster actually doing? I notice that it saved the .cfg file on closing, is it making tweaks and adjustments to my sim config according to what it monitors when P3D is running inside it? If so, is it best to run P3D outside of the booster with the amended .cfg once I have run it inside the booster while it finds the optimum settings? Alternatively, is there a live weather alternative to REX which is less resource heavy? I've still got the REX textures so its worth having but it seems very cumbersome compared to my old Active Sky 6 for FS9. Thanks, Paul
  11. Has anyone tried P3D on a lower spec machine? I've run fs9 on mine as all the reports of hardware exertion made me reticent to go to FSX but I've decided to make the leap with P3D and downloaded 1.3 which looks lovely but even with the details set very low results in wildly fluctuating FPS. Is 1.4 a bit more consistent for this? Will install if the concensus is that it would make a difference. Thanks, Paul PS I'm on an Acer Aspire X1430 spec
  12. Yes, that's what it was. Thanks Mike. Will take the time to configure FSUIPC to run controllers soon.
  13. Hi, I've installed the latest version of FSUIPC in order to run Radar Contact. This now works fine. I have a Saitek pro flight yoke which worked ok until FSUIPC was installed. Now, although the yoke is set to be controlled via F3D, not FSUIPC, the yoke will not work when the plane is on the ground, making taxiing impossible. Any ideas on how to solve this? Ideally a way of making FSUIPC ignore my controller and just doing what it does re RC4 Thanks, Paul BTW it works fine in the air, but can only take off using speed alone!
  14. Have now got it to work, however, FSUIPC is now stopping my Saitek Yoke working, but only when taxiing, although F3D is set up to control it, not FSUIPC. If it's not one thing, it's another!
  15. I've just added P3D after only having FS9 running with RC4, hence the question about reinstallation at the start
  16. Hi Ray, Thanks again. I've downloaded and installed the latest FSUIPC which has installed fine on my reinstalled P3D. However, Radar contact, although running, does not appear in P3D. When you say I've changed the location of where the pln's are stored. Where do I change the location of the FS executable, is it within RC4 or is there some kind of config file to tweak here? Thanks, Paul PS I've posted in that other forum too.
  17. Hi I've installed the latest version of FSCUIP into P3D and have ran the rebuild scenery function. However, RC4 does not appear in P3D. Is this to do with the settings on FSCUIP. If so, how do I do I configure it (this is a fresh install, not the version that comes with RC4) Thanks, Paul
  18. Thanks for that, Ray. I created a copy and changed the paths as requested. The 2nd copy of RC4 boots fine. I also reinstalled FSCUIP in the modules folder of P3D as I thought that this would be required to link the FS to RC4. However, P3D now will not boot up at all. I was running FSX toP3D converter when I installed FSCUIP, I don't know if this is what has caused the issue. I removed FSCUIP from modules folder, but still won't boot so reinstalling whole thing. Is it FSCUIP which has caused the problem do you think? Thanks, Paul
  19. Hiya, I've been using RC4 on FS9 for a number of years and I've recently installed Prepar3D as well. I would like to use RC with P3D, do I need to install it again and get another activation key? Do I need to buy it again? How does it work? Thanks, Paul
  20. Ok, nice one. I've used AFCAD before, I'll have a look at this.
  21. Thanks for that, I'll give edit voicepack a go, if only to speed up chatter, that's one other annoying facet of default ATC I forgot to mention, that ruddy whistling noise when you're trying to reply to intructions while the ATC deals with someone else!
  22. Hiya, I've had and used Radar Contact for a long time, and generally wouldn't use anything else, but a friend of mine is just starting to get into FS and is using the default MSFS ATC, as he finds the RC interface a bit unfriendly and for now likes the VFR facility and prog taxi on the default ATC. But there are the old problems I've not considered in a long time.... the almost inevitable requests to go around at busy airports (and huge go arounds that are subsequently vectored), the weird "turn left, turn right, turn left, turn right" vectors on approach, instructions to drop 20000 feet in one go and the nonsenseical progression on handovers (Manchester approach vectoring an App. to Liverpool, then handing us over to Liverpool tower at the very last second). I've installed AI Smooth, which makes a slight improvement in the go arounds (but they still happen) but what else can we do to make the default ATC work a bit better for us. (Meanwhile, I continue to pitch RC to him at every opportunity!) Hints and Tips welcome please...
  23. Crikey, it doesn't take long for the discussion to turn negative on here does it?! When you can, have a look at the screenshots in the magazine article, as I say, streets ahead of anything I've seen in FS9/FSX. I'm almost sold just on the basis of that!
