  1. I struggled to get fsx to work for years on machines that should have been able to run it easily. I moved to XP11 and didn't look back for a long time but XP11 still has a long way to go in integrating its virtual world, add on traffic with atc etc which is important for immersion and which fsx does with aplomb despite its horrible glitchy performance. In addition to this I had spent fair bit on Orbx and various planes during my time with fsx so I decided to give p3d a look, spend a little money to justify spending more in the past if you get my drift. I can only echo what the OP said, this is the program that fsx should have become years ago, loads so much faster, performs smoothly with much higher FPS (x4!) no crashes and works with almost all of my add ons without any problems at all. I have UTL talking to RC4 and ASE injecting weather with no issues at all. I had to upgrade FSCUIP but only the unregistered version, and that was it. So yes, no more tweaking, it works off the bat like i remember FS9 doing before the years of toil!
  2. Hi Bob, Yes, this is the first time I've run PF3 for X Plane, I have a recent version of XPUIPC 2.0.0.0 (RC4 to X Plane works fine) The error code is generated from PF3 itself (it won't let me post screenshots on here) Dave March has sent me some extra .exe files to try and rectify it but its still not working with X-Plane. I don;t have FSX installed since I fell in love with XP11 but it was working fine with it before bit I don;t think the issue is with PF3 to X plane, rather with an update to PF3 and the way my AV software has reacted to it! I'll keep plugging away but am well disappointed. Thanks, Paul
  3. Hi yes, both installed on the same machine. I don't think that is the issue. Any other clues as to what might be causing it?
  4. I can't get it to run I get the error message below error message from PF3, it looks like the error could originate from my installation of PF3 but it works fine with FSX last time I tried it. Looks like it can;t connect via XPCUIP Connect error 429 240 Active x component can't create object Any ideas? Thanks, Paul
  5. For ATC you can use 124th ATC, loads better than the default. It does throw out some weird vectors but I just request direct to waypoint and iy'll send me the right way. I don't use STARS but apparently these don't work so good with 124th. I had a few problems with pilot2ATC, (which does use STARS properly) losing me so I'm leaving that a few months before I purchase while they iron the glitches out.
  6. I don't think its too bad. I get better performance than on FSX, I always used to have a big FPS dip near the ground and this doesn't happen here. My PC is below recommended spec and I still get about 45 fps in clear weather and 25fps in foggy weather. The scenery looks ok. Can't work out how to start on the ramp, only on the runway! (and clues??). Certainly didn't blow me away like X Plane 11 has done (now that is a work of art!) but its a good starting point for a new strand of flight sim development probably for a more casual market than most folk on here.
  7. Yes seconded by me, really adds to the immersion of the sim. Fantastic features for the price. Had a bit of a windy approach coming into EGPE and actually felt a bit nervous! Ace plugin, recommended.
  8. Ha ha all things considered it does very well! Except with the Carenado's!
  9. Hi folks, Thanks for that. tried increasing number of flight models but made no difference. I guess for now its one B58 for flying smooth and fast and another for pretty screenshots! I agree about the tipping point hypothesis. For the record my spec is modest: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1 CPU Intel Core i7 860 @ 2.80GHz Lynnfield 45nm Technology RAM 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 (9-10-9-26) Motherboard Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. P55-USB3 (Socket 1156) 3 Graphics S24E510C (1920x1080@60Hz) 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 (ASUStek Computer Inc) Storage 1863GB Seagate ST2000DM001-1CH164 (SATA) Optical Drives TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-224FB Audio Realtek High Definition Audio Resolution is 1920x1080 As I say, I generally get very good performance with highish (say 3/4) settings across the board. Thanks again, Paul
  10. Hi My XP11 install runs really well, I'm getting around 40+ fps with high settings typically on a fairly modest system using default aircraft However, I've imported a couple of Carenado planes (B58 and C90) from my Steam XP10 install to my LR XP11 install and they seem to work fine, and they look lovely but cause an absolutely massive framerate drop to about 17-18 fps Is this because of an incompatibility between XP versions (and I'll have to buy new planes when they're released) or a massive leap in the fidelity of the aircraft and what setting would be best to reduce to allow them to run at higher fps? The scenery settings don't seem to make any difference at all as they only affect the outside world, not the cockpit. Thanks, Paul
  11. Yes! See my reply on other thread but here http://secure.simmarket.com/fs-limited-rc4toxplane.phtml
  12. Hi There is a program calledRadar Contact 4 to X Plane http://www.multicrewxp.com/RC4toXplane.pdf What this does is provide a pipe that allows X Plane 10 or 11 to work with Radar Contact 4 instead of its default ATC, in the same way that RC4 does with FSX You can buy it here http://secure.simmarket.com/fs-limited-rc4toxplane.phtml It works really well Regards, Paul
  13. I use Radar Contact 4 with this http://www.multicrewxp.com/RC4toXplane.pdf It works fine in XP11, really well. Agree about the need for a more user friendly AI traffic program though
  14. Hi, I've downloaded the beta yesterday (I think there's been a rc update since then). I've previously used XP10 on Steam and have bought some Carenado planes and was a bit concerned that Steam assets may not work in a standalone XP install. Also, I've been using the X Plane to Radar Contact bridging program from Multi Crew XP with XP10 http://www.multicrewxp.com/RC4toXplane.pdf as the native ATC is a bit ropey (and still is in XP11). Well, the good news is that everything works seamlessly just by copying the folders from the Steam install of XP10 into the new XP11 folder for both the planes and the plugins. So if you were worried about legacy assets for XP10 working with the new version, all appears to be fine. x737 works fine too. Anyway, there you go, good news. XP11 looks wonderful so far, I look forward to seeing what the reaction from the community is in the longer term, hopefully as positive as it deserves. Paul
  15. I've got XPlane 2 Radar Contact 4 working fine with XP11, its brilliant.
  16. Hi, Thanks for that folks. Just done a demo flight with FS Captain Manchester>Zurich in a King Air. Seems to have a lot of potential. I'll buy a license for this one. Cheers, Paul
  17. Hi, I'd like to add a bit of structure to my flying, mostly larger GA aircraft around Europe. I have subscribed to FSEconomy but can't find any of the planes I have available near any airport I would like fly from! I've used FS Passengers with FS9 years and found it a bit repetitive eventually. Never tried FS Captain, does this add anything extra than what's offered by FSPassengers and isn't this aimed solely at airliners? Any other options or ideas? Let me know your thoughts! Thanks, Paul
  18. I think its alright. I'm very impressed with the default scenery, I think the flight models (for default simple aircraft and the point of the game) are fine and the only thing letting it down really are the limited missions and the way that clouds and sky colours are rendered. As something which is really at the start of its development cycle, it's pretty good and I'm happy to keep investing in it. Of course it doesn't touch my FSX with its 20 or so commercial add-ons but I wouldn't expect it to. One day, maybe and hopefully, it will.
  19. Ok, that's great. Will buy a couple of planes on payday then! Thanks for the quick reply, Paul
  20. Hiya, I've just got FSX-SE up and running on a decent PC, have ORBX and is all looking great but fancy some better planes than the default. I've used Carenado planes a while ago in FS9 and thought they were v good but looking at the Carenado site, only a few of them are listed as working with SE. I would be after the Baron or B200 to replace the defaults, but neither of these are listed in the SE section. What is the issue with these, does it not know where to install them? is there any way of getting them to work? Thanks, Paul
  21. Finally got around to downloading it (Dreamfleet B58 without RXP), it's really good flight model and the cockpit is lovely. Recommended for the £12 it cost. Thanks all for your help.
  22. I can;t even install the actual aircraft though, because of compatibility issues. It seems that a version of Dreamfleet B58 without RXP gauges is available for around £10 so I think I'll just go for that. From what I remember, the aircraft itself is really good. Interesting that you say Dreamfleet no longer trading, but they appear to have a website still that you can purchase downloads from here http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/index.htm should I be wary of this? Thanks, Paul
  23. Yes, Bert, that's the one, it was really good, it was Dreamfleet, not Aeroworx, my mistake getting mixed up with the brilliant King Air! They do a version without RXP gauges so I think I'll give that a go http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/Previews/B58/preview_lite.html
  24. Hi, I don;t want the Reality XP Gauges, they're what's not working on my old CD copy of Aeroworx B58. Thanks though, I'll check that out. (Edit:Ah, looks like for FSX only)
