Just like to add my thanks to Ray - great quality AFCADS. It never ceases to amaze when I set up a flight into an airport I've never been to before and search AVSIM for an AFCAD there nearly always seems to be one from Ray. Did a flight into VVTS (Ho Vhi Minh) yesterday searched AVSIM and lo and behold there was the AFCAD!

+1 I bought a new PC to run FSX and before I decided to use the tweaking tool I was sitting there thinking I'd just thrown £1000 down the drain I had so many performance issues! Now it runs like a dream. Thanks Bojote

For me this is an absolute must. I've just bought a top of the range pc (i72600 gt570) and if I use the internal fsx fps limiter and set it to 30 fps, at big airports it turns into a slide show. However if I set the internal fsx limit to Unlimited and restrict the fps to 30 using the fps limiter I get a smooth performance and frames never drop below 15 anywhere (and most times it's up at the 25 range) with addons and all sliders full right. Give it a try and see if it makes the difference.

Hi GuysJust got a new PC and have installed FSX with rc4, rex, and ASE. Ive also amended the FSX.cfg with Bojotes automatic tool and am using the FPS limiter set to 30FPS..Overall im really pleased with the performance of the sim but there is a recurring issue that is really starting to grate.On a number of occassions when i am on approach to land into a major airport, the screen goes black and the FSX 100% loading screen comes up, only for about a second or 2, and then the sim continues on from where it left off. |Im not sure if this is asomething to do with texture load but to be honest id rather the sim stuttered at this point, rather than stopping and restarting as it really loses the realism effect.Ive got most of the settings in FSX maxed out except for AI (very dense) and AI (50%).My PC details are: Intel I7 2600; NVIDIA 1.25Gb GTX570; 8gb RAM; 750Gb WD Caviar Black HDD.Anyrthing you can suggest would be gratefully received.ThanksDonald

JD Success. I tried everything suggested - even got up at 4am to try and download but still the same issue. Had resigned myself to relying on someone being kind enough sending me a CD when i though, as a last resort, ill download Firefox (ive heard god things about it) and see if it makes any difference. To my surprise and delight it downloaded the file like a dream! Anyway, now installing RC in FSX as we speak (just sent key request) and cant wait to get it up & running. Can i just say that the offer you made to burn a CD and send it to me was much appreciated - your customer service really is second to none and i assure you ill be first in the queue when RC 5 comes up for sale. Hi Guys Ive sent JD an e-mail on this but just wondered if any of you have ideas on how to resolve? I have a regsistered CD copy of Radar Contact installed on my old PC which i use for FS9. Decided to take the plunge and buy a new rig to run FSX and as advised asked JD to send me the link for the upgrade to 4.3 which was sent right away. My problem is that for whatever reason i cannot complete the download as it stops after downloading between 60 and 100mb of the 681mb download. Ive tried about 10 times but unfortunately it just stops every time (ive even tried using download managers with no success). Anyway im now at a loss as to to how i can get RC working in FSX. Did wonder whether if one of you guys in the UK could burn the zip file to CD and send it to me (i'd obviously pay the costs) whether that would work but any other ideas would be appreciated. FS just isnt the same without RC. If all else fails ill just have to repurchase a CD version from the website which i assume includes 4.3 - i miss it that much. RegardsDonald (Paterson)

Andy Ive got a box about the same vintage as yourself and recently upgraded the RAM from 1Gb to 1.5Gb. In my opinion the change didn't make much difference to the frame rate in FS9 but i did notice an improvement in the smoothness around major cities / airports. Also reduced the demand on the hard drive which can only be a good thing given its 6 years old! All in all i was quite pleased with the impact the change made given that it only cost me £15 for the extra 0.5GB stick. Hope this helps Graeme

I found this through Malaysianwings.net - I holiday quite often in Sabah / Malayisa and find this forum quite interesting as it has a separate channel dedicated to flight sim.Its funny, the scenery works fine on my FS9 set up,. I know the scenery includes the new runway extension at WBKK . Have you removed your existing WBKK AFCAD file as the scenery comes with its own and i dont know if they are conflicting in some way?
