  1. Hi, Thank you for your replies! I just realized I have the AeroWX app, confirming a tailwind of 40-100 knts for the relevant area So GS it is. Regards, Andy
  2. Hi there, Sorry if this is old news. This evening, I followed the Norwegian carrier B788 NLH82P flight from Oslo to Stockholm. I am quite sure this was an empty plane transfer flight. One of the reasons for this assumption is the speed. During a 2431 fpm climb, it reached 596 knots / 1103 km/h at 30.849 ft. I am aware of the (un)accuracy of my Flightradar24-app, but this was stable. Even at 28.000 ft, it reached 594 knots / 1100 km/h. In my book, [email protected] equals Mach 1,013. Also 594@2800 equals Mach 0,999 Something tells me this is not normal procedure, and must cause a certain stress on the airframe? Heavy tailwind? Flight here: http://www.flightradar24.com/2013-09-23/16:53/12x/NLH82P Regards, Andy
  3. Hi, Yes, it seems to be like this. I was on a delayed SK flight today, and it felt like no derate at all, and speeding at crz. On a flight a week ago, I asked the pilots. They basically confirmed my first post here, with a standard CI of 6. They used derate TO-2 and +50 deg OAT. Then CLB with no derate to get fast to crz and save fuel. I did model this in FSX with a 700 departing ENGM. I got N1 77% at TO, increasing to 90-ish (dont remember precisely) at 1500ft. This is exactly the way it felt as a passenger in real life , based on sounds and general behaviour of the acft. Regards, Andy
  4. Hi, Just wanted to share some info. I recently flew a few short real life flights (passenger) with Scandinavian. ENGM-ENBR and ENGM-ENVA. I noticed a marked difference in flight behaviour during takeoff, with acceleration at 1500, not decel. Also very high power in TO (maybe) and CLB (for sure). I decided to ask a pilot, and it turns out fuel is now so expensive that the first priority is to get high up FAST. This will potentially add engine maintenance cost, but it is still judged to be a smaller expence than the fuel. I did not get to ask particulary about derate, but I am quite sure there is no derate at CLB. Maybe TO-1. The cost index for Scandinavian 737 is now 5. Hope this is of interest. Regards, Andy
  5. Ah, thanks! Got stuck in 2nd generation together with i7-2600K there..... How about this one? CORSAIR 16GB DDR3 VENGEANCE LP PC3-17000 2133MHZ CL11 (4X4GB) Or..... Not too much 2400 to choose from here atm, but I guess I could stretch it to this one: KINGSTON DDR3 HYPERX 16GB 2400MHZ CL11 (4X4GB) Andy
  6. Hi guys, Thanks a lot for the input. I made an updatet shopping list from various input, unchanged in grey. Better? Sandisk is not well represented here in Norway. 7. Thanks Ryan, I do have UTX and GEX NA/Euro. I will look into the space requirements again. Good tip. I just got some comments on another forum, telling me to choose Crucial, Samsung or Intel, not Corsair SSD. Sandforce related, I guess. Also, he pointed out I had a 2. gen processor and 3. gen mobo. He suggested 3. gen processor. I will look into Ivy Bridge again. I think I heard something about Ivy Bridge being less OC-friendly. Also - that the H80 was a noisy cooler. He suggested air. Not convinced. :) Regards, Andy
  8. Hi guys, I am about to pull the trigger on a new setup for use with FSX, addons and PMDG products (747, 737, 777), but also quite a lot photo editing with Adobe Lightroom. I´m looking at this setup: ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE, Socket-1155 ATX, Z77, DDR3, 2xG3+1xG2-PCIe-x16,SLI/CFX,HDMI,DP, Dual band-WiFi, BT,DLNA,UEFI Corsair H80 Hydro Series CPU Cooler Socket 775/1155/1156/1366/2011, AM2/AM2+/AM3, 2600 RPM, 46~92 CFM, 22~39 dBA Corsair Obsidian 650D Midi Tower Sort Vifter: 1x 200mm Front, 1x 200mm Topp, 1x Bak 120mm, ATX, mATX, 2x USB 2.0/3.0 Corsair SSD Force Series 3, 240GB 2.5" SATA 6 Gb/s (SATA3.0), 550MB/520MB/s read/write, SandForce® SF-2281, w/bracket Corsair SSD Force Series GT 120GB 2.5" SATA 6 Gb/s (SATA3.0), 555MB/515MB/s read/write, 85k IOPS(4k aligned), w/bracket Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 16GB CL9 Kit w/4x 4GB, CL9-9-9-24, 1.5V, Vengeance Blue Heatspreader, 240 pin Intel® Core i7-2700K Processor Socket-LGA1155, Quad Core, 3.5Ghz, 8MB, 95W, Boxed w/fan Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Norwegian, Full, DVD I already have: Corsair Powersupply 750W Black, ATX/EPS, 140mm Fan, 8xSATA, SLI MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti 1GB PhysX PCI-Express 2.0,"Twin Frozr II", GDDR5, 2xDVI, nat *********************** I am thinking 120GB SSD for FSX, and 240 GB SSD for OS. I am also thinking moderate OC from the start, maybe expanding this later, hence the water cooling. Maybe possible to turn on HT and moderate OC for photo editing with Adobe Lightroom. HT of and higher OC for FSX. Any comments for the setup? I know most use i5-2500K for this, but i worry about the future use, and use for photo editing. My current PC is 4yrs, and I like buying stuff that lasts for a while. Any comments welcome - thanks! Regards, Andy
  9. I have been thinking the same. Actually, I am a bit suprised it hasn't been mentioned as a wish before in the thread. I would rather have a 787 than both 757 and 767. But I guess nostalgia is involved here also... :)Andy
  10. Thanks for your update Chris,I usually restrain from being instructive, but there is one thing I know too much about to keep quiet. It is about timeframe communication, expectations and disappointments. Case AOrdering an item at a webshop at 25th of january, expected delivery 5th of february. Delivered 8th of february. Three days of waiting, getting more and more upset. Even more, since the webshop said it should arrive "any time now". Result: Anger and disappointment. Discontent. Case BOrdering an item at a webshop at 25th of january, expected delivery 10th of february. Delivered 8th of february. Two days early!! Result: Happy about the early delivery, cheerful. A feel of good customer service. Please note that the ordering date and the delivery date is the exact same, yet the customer experience can be dramatically different. Point is; always add a good buffer when giving release dates. Add a week or two if necessary, so you are absolutely sure there will be no delay. Ignore the whiners being disappointed because of the long timeframe. They will cheer when the video is delivered "early". This is a really easy trick. I have used it a lot, and it works every time. Regards,Andy
  11. Same problem here, if it helps. I will dig further into it later using the tutorial. Have not testet much. Andy
  12. So AS2012 wont be good for Europe?Andy
  13. Answered before/thread closed before. Expect approx three "this is inappropriate, didn't your mother tell you not to ask about money", and a number of " I am curious too"-posts. You end up with Tabs saying "we are satisfied with sales", or thread closed with a "how dare you?"-comment from Tom. Good luck. :)Andy
  14. The 737NGX video editor. Dont remember his name. Plan is to get a new one as fast as possible to get on a new and better track for publishing frequence. Sounds good. Andy
  15. "Someone" is obviously applying for a certain vacant position in AOA!? ;)This was in a completely different league! Thanks!Regards, Andy
  16. Just to add to the chaos. My best experience this far has been Norman. Norman keeps his nose out of other peoples business, but keeps the PC virus free. That said, I have only tried AVG, Norton and F-secure other than Norman.Andy
  17. Just FYI.I put in my new MSI 560Ti (as above) yesterday, same system as before. No significant increase in FPS. Actually, it seems slightly less. That said, I have not tweaked a lot. Just installed the card and the driver, and increased clock to 950 with the Afterburner software.Just thought it could be nice to know for others in the same situation.Andy
  18. Thanks, Corey and Christopher!I will go for the i5-2500K, then. Not sure about the cabinet. Will look further into it. As long as it is room in the one I have, doesn´t hurt to try. But I reckon I will end up with a new one some day soon. Will have to look further into OC. I guess first same old cabinet and stock cooler. A bit of testing, and then maybe a new cabinet and a better cooler.Remember, I am used to 8-ish fpm. I don´t need 50+ right away to be happy. :)Andy
  19. Ok, thanks. Good to know. What would you change with 650D, if you could?By the way, I see you have the i7-2600k on O/C. The "i5 is just as good if you want to go budget and dont need HT"-argument is still valid?I ended up aiming for i5 after reading a lot here. But thats a couple of months ago. :)
  20. Yup, I think I will. Worth it getting rid of RivaTuner anyway. As for case, I am looking at Corsair Obsidian 650D or Carbide 500R (slightly smaller, but very good cooling results). Should be better, eh?Once again, thanks a lot!Regards,Andy
  21. That was quick! Thanks a lot!1. Yes, 8GB should do for now, and I have also heard 1.5V is the best for i5. Just tempting to have 12 and stay clear of upgrades for a while.2. Been really unlucky when it comes to GPUs. MSI and ASUS is good? Looks like the Twin Frozr will be it.4. I want a SSD for the OS. If nothing else, just to see the difference. If everything fails, I can fall back on my Raptor and use the SSD for FSX or something. I will do a bit more reading on this matter, maybe also wait for more comments. One bonus question I forgot to ask: I am currently stuck with the HD 4870 with a faulty BIOS (needing Rivatuner to keep it going). Would upgrading the GPU to 560 Ti right away with the current system be of much help for FPS? I guess the CPU would end up as the bottleneck quite fast.....?Cooling: I must admit I am not really too familiar with all varieties of cases. What puts this one in the hot-category? Upgrade is not out of the question.
  22. Hi folks,Would really appreciate if some of you have the time to comment.I have this setup atm, hitting typically 7-20 FPS with FSX AP with SP. Addons UT2, UTX, FSGX 2008, GEX NA/E, REX and PMDG 737: So.Basically, I am looking for better FPS, but also a system that is newer and quicker in general, also for photo editing. Second part will follow automatically. :)I am looking at this system, mainly based on stuff I have been reading around here: Now, for those of you still reading: 1. Any point spending the $ on Dominator?2. Is the difference between 560 Ti and 570 worth it? I have read 560 Ti is quite ok.3. PSU. I am going to calculate it, but if you know for sure 750W is to little, please tell.4. SSD. Any point having a dedicated SSD for FSX? I have heard about the firmware problems before 1.3 (BSOD etc) for this SSD type. Any one with experience on the new firmware?5. Most important: Does this look ok for FSX, you think?Any comments most welcome!
  23. Aaaah. Maybe I should do the checklists next time.Props to PMDG/Boeing for making durable airstairs! :)
  24. I have had the same issue. I thought I had made some bad programming between UN623 and the STAR for ENBR RWY17. For the occation, a lot of the altitudes was AT or Above (A). Maybe I should have removed the A on a couple of them to force it. I noticed that the plane could have descended a lot faster than it did at the moment Des Path U was announced.
  25. That is so true. That is why I am not asking for their profit figures. That would per definition have to involve expense figures.Number of sold items is something else. Actually, many stores I have been into, tends to use figures like this as a sales argument.(Not that I recommend PMDG to do that in any way)That said, I am more into approx sales, as in number of copies. In a logaritmic fashion, if that need be. 10, 100, 1000, 10.000, 100.000. :)If anyone finds that inappropriate, then I am sorry they do.This was supposed to be a happy post. I truly feel happy for the PMDG team if they earn good money from this. But those figures are not what I am asking.I am just curious about approx how much an addon like this sells. As in "how many are we?"If this breaks the forum rules, I am sorry. I at least didn´t interpret it as an violation.Speaking of sales figures, I am planning to make them skyrocket further this weekend. Latest SP1 reports makes me want to try 737NGX on my slightly outdated PC anyway. :)With computer part prices increasing these days, buying a whole new setup doesn´t really tempt me.Have a nice evening!Regards,Andy
