  1. I'll join in with those who like her. I also don't find enough flying time and right now I'm a little too taken with the Staggerwing and An2 but after I calm down a bit I will again stretch out my flights across Alaska and the PNW with Orbx scenery. I enjoy the sounds and the fun of starting and activating systems. I've barely gotten into nav or radio and already its cool and I think the flight dynamics and response to control surface changes is very good. It taxis well for me using the yoke at low speed. I like it and I don't know enough to point out any cons. Lots of flights ahead for this one.
  2. I'll buy it. I like the fact that I can go from FTX region to region and keep the improved landclass without having to shut down and change FTX settings. I also like being able to leave an Orbx region and still have improved topography. Maybe I'll even purchase it day 1 if I'm around. good flights, Cal
  3. I tried oh how I tried but it was the same for me, now its a favorite and with the upcoming patch, even better. good flights, Cal
  4. Hi all, I was following a thread about acheiving turbulence with the A2A upgrade and one member listed recommended tweaks for FSXcfg settings. It sounded like fun so I changed my settings. I flew a Mooney M18 "mite" out of KMMV and looked for wind. I was over mountains after a pretty tame flight at 5500 and whamm! my little plane was kicked and twisted and I was rocketed upward at 320 knots ( according to my flight info using Shift+Z ) and my engine gave out and died. I was still speeding all over the sky and I couldn't get the plane to slow down. I was grateful it was a simulation because it was a violent ride and I kept expecting the plane to split apart but somehow I had the foresight to uncheck the "stress causes damage" box. . I gave up and shut down to reset the cfg settings to far tamer levels. Like I said, it was a sort of fun but I had no control and I practically broke my teeth from biting so hard. I think the suggested changes were intended to make flying heavies more interesting not to wreak mayhem in your Cessna. I'd thank the guy who posted the cfg changes but I can't find the posting. If anyone else saw his post and tried the settings I'm curious if you had similar results. good flights, Cal
  5. I just reinstalled fresh FSX Gold. It is FSX and Acceleration as separate loads and yes SP1 and SP2 are included in Acceleration. I had difficulties when I reinstalled FSX over an already installed Acceleration so I recommend you install FSX fresh, reboot, then install Acceleration. good flights, Cal
  6. Hello Mario, I've enjoyed flying your beautiful plane since I found it for FS9. I fly it also in FSX because it looks so sleek and powerful. The panel was hard to use but I enjoyed my flights and now that you've built this for FSX I will really enjoy taking this Italian beauty on tour, especially in the form fitting Masseratti gown. Thank you very much for your fine work and making such a special plane available to me. Cal
  7. Hi all, I'm disappointed also that Flight is closed up. I got what I paid for and my plan for revenge against MS is to find lots of places to explore in Alaska in my deluxe model Cub and get much more than my money's worth in enjoyment and flying challenges. But that's just me. If you feel that you were burned, you're free to pursue any compensation you choose.
  8. I fought the urge but I bought the cub, just a few hours before I heard of Flight's closing, and I'm glad I got it. It is a great little plane and of course its slow, its a cub, and there are some limitations on the instruments but it still takes an effort to fly it well. I've said before that one of the big attractions of flight was the easier load it placed on my laptop and the great images and frame rates I got with Flight. I still had 1600 credits so popping for 1200 was not an issue. Sure I would have preferred it to be cheaper and yes MS does use some marketing " tricks" but the plane is excellent and I'll easily get 1200 credits worth of enjoyment. Heck, just watching my poor craft sinking slowly in the frigid artic waters after I've messed up a landing was worth a few dozen credits anyway. So if you like a slow ride in a well modelled cub in spectacular scenery you may find that Flight in Alaska will be a favorite escape. As long as people like Peter continue to share their experiences and discoveries then I think Flight will be enjoyable to many more. good flights, Cal
  9. I'm going with the group that thinks the Maule is a better fit. Alaska came with the cub but I haven't even rolled it out since it was an empty shell and I want to fly the plane. The Maule has been a lot of fun once I learned to fly it and has the gauges and instruments I need to give me a real feeling of flying the plane. Alaska is wonderful scenery but I sure hope MS brings in ATC and adds some living things to the sim.
  10. Hi all, In FSX the default key command Shift+P initiates pushback for me on this and other amphibs and floatplanes. The slew action in FSX is unmanagable in my set-up so I can only hit Cntl+y and guess. I use it sparingly. good flights, Cal
  11. Hello Jim and all, I still think the Vundo virus was attached to the download wrapper but I got my plane back. I did all that you suggested and my comp is running well, thank you. Once I knew everything was clean and all related files removed, I downloaded and did a clean install but this time I allowed the program to install into the default locations. I was directing it to install in a different drive letter and directly into airplanes and it mis-installed. Using defaults it installed correctly and I have my plane back. If Vundo shows up I ignore it. Thanks again, Cal
  12. Thanks Jim, I thought I could replace the 182T gauge with the one from Flight 1 Mustang but it has a different name. Your suggestions sound promising but I have never attempted anything quite that deep. I will try them and see what occurs after I have set up a reliable restore point. with your help I anticipate getting back a favorite, thank you. good flights, Cal
  13. FSX is installed to a non-default directory and after installing that is where it installed to. Yes, I install as administrator but I had a run in with the Vundo virus. I've cleaned and scoured everything and got all-clean notices from my virus protection as well as the Vundo fix software. That if means I may have some messed up files in the system that has to be looked at as well. I've also posted on the F1 forum but I know there's a lot of brain power over here at Avsim. Thank you for replying. good flights, Cal
  14. FSX was running and my default aircraft was displaying fine then I switched aircraft and the notice came up that FSX was stopping and here's the Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BEX Application Name: fsx.exe Application Version: 10.0.61637.0 Application Timestamp: 46fadb14 Fault Module Name: Flight1_GarminG1000.GAU Fault Module Version: 1.0.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 4f606c02 Exception Offset: 000827f6 Exception Code: c0000417 Exception Data: 00000000 OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 3094 Additional Information 2: 3094e5f797103ef68651a7044df535cd Additional Information 3: 59c6 Additional Information 4: 59c692283360298edf30ca38f12f7fd5 I checked my entire disk and loaded a program to eliminated the Vundo virus and after a complete scanning it reported all clean so I re-downloaded the 182T and loaded it into FSX. On one hand I spent $48 for a plane I can't use but more than that, this is a really great plane and I enjoyed flying it. Can anyone tell me what is wrong? I thank you for any help.
  15. Hi Simmers, I've had my Saitek yoke for about 2 years, trouble free, working great. The illuminated clock on the yoke is flickering. I've checked all cables and connections. The yoke works and the clock works , is there a way to fix the light or do I need to replace something? thanks, and good flights, Cal
