  1. I remember years ago flying alomg with my little group of clouds. They stayed right along with me. I remember thinking, this ain't too realistic. I do believe it was with FS9? Must have had the LOD set real short.
  2. That happend on December 28 when the Myan calander stopped, Oh hell, that was last year, we must all be dead???
  3. Years back I had an Amiga 2000. The graphics were way ahead of it's time. It scrolled so smoothly Charter Comm used it with a video program called Video Toaster for it's scrolling channel selection screen. The Amiga was devfeloped and built to be a dedicated flight Siming machine. It was funded by a group of Doctors soly for that purpose. If memory serves it had 9 view ports. It used Amiga DOS by Microsoft. It was programed in Lattice C which had a graphical interface for it's programing tools. No one else had that, you did it with assembly. Can't remember the CPU builder except it was a 97000. Oh, it was Motorola. Some of you remember the Commador 64. Commador bought Amiga. Gateway Computer bought the Amiga from Commador before they went bust. The Amiga was a big seller in England and other parts of Eorope. When we went to the moon I built a program for the kids to watch. The rocket took off and went up and around the moon a few times , the landing module seperated from the space ship and landed on the moon. All is well. after a few turns around the landing module took off and chased the space ship for a few turns and then docked with an ungodly loud clang and bounced back away from the spaceship? Finaly it docked! After fixing the errors the kids didn't like it. They liked the crashing sounds and, well you know kids. The Amiga I believe is still in existance. Google it! It's 3 dedicated graphics chips, Denise, Agnus and???
  4. I use Routfinder from within FSBuild. Just a Copy/paste operation and you can add SID's/STARS when you need when flying online, and the FP gets saved automatically. Would like to see a NGX performance file like the PMDG747-400 has for FSBuild.Buck Bolduc
  5. Been using FSBuild for years.Just created a plan KMCO-KLAS. Used Routefinder from within FSBuild for the current navdata cycle. I just copy and paste the route data (less Airports) from Route Finder to FSBuild. When I press cntrl V the whole works is instantly built and inserted into PMDG.s FP dir. Don't have to press build/generate etc. Many captains seem to have problems getting FSBuild to save flight plans to the proper PMDG FP. directory. Go to FSBuild's site and download the movie.Buck Bolduc
  6. I get higher frame rates. It's locked at 40fps and bounces off that pretty much, very happy.Very smooth.Buck Bolduc
  7. All he needs to do is point it to his FSX root directory. i.e. C:/FSX. I took Ryans advice and installed FSX on C:. Not Programs(x86) or any "Program" directory. Then set it up to run as administrator. This gets around the Windows Permissions bull crap in Windows. If he follows FSBuilds video he will be OK. After you save settings you have to shut it down and restart or it won't take.Buck Bolduc http://fsbuild.com/fsbtut/exporting_tut.htm
  8. Go to FSBuilds site and download the video's. In the options/settings you can check off PMDG 737 or any other aircraft and the "Export to" menu will stay checked. The Export FP video explains exactly how to do it. MY FSX is C:/FSX and it goes right into PMDG/Flightplans/NGX. Works every time. You can always use Route finder from within FSBuild. Just copy/paste the route "minus" the airports into the route section of FSBUILD, let FSBuild enter the airports. Routefinder has a drop down list for airac cycles. http://fsbuild.com/fsbtut.htmlBuck Bolduc
  9. Just installed Tir-5. Works great, wish I had something like it for my car. Would make backing out of my driveway a heck of a lot easier. Buck Bolduc
  10. Right on!I ordered the Tracker-5. Should be here tomorrow, I doubt if I will ever see the 2D cockpit again. At some point I'll try running it on the big TV. With the Wide Screen option set, and if it works I may never watch TV again!Or buy another.Did it with FS9 but the gages were not exactly round, Buck Bolduc
  11. I bought the NGX after much thought. I was concerned about running it with an AMD Phenum 965 Quad, I purchased an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Mobo in anticipation of the Bulldozer CPU.I was not at all happy with it;s single thread IPC performance so I installed an 1100T and overclocked it to 3.98Ghz. I tried a flight. Took off from JFK, frames bounced around between 12-17 in VC a bit higher in 2D cockpit. After take off the FPS would climb to 26-27. No stutters or video artifacts, the sim was smooth. KJFK - KMCO, after 20 minutes or so the sim froze. I was switching views like a maniac amazed at the whole ball of wax if you will! Looking, looking and more looking, amazed at everything going on inside and out of the airplane, panels etc,Then I made a good move, IMHO. I looked at the "Introductory doc's" and followed PMDG's advice on how to set up FSX for the NGX. One of the smartest move I ever made, if you don't mind my saying so.Now the frames are still low compared to a higher rated machine BUT! Now at JFK they reach a few frames over 20 and climb to 33 where FSX is set to. But the point is this! The NGX is the smoothest, nicest sim ever. It fly's better and is more enjoyable than some with higher frame rates, hard to explain but that's the way I see it. Now I find myself using only the VC, nice!PMDG did a good job making/coding the NGX flyable using a less then optimal machine.Have now made many flights, no stutters, freezes, or problems of ANY kind! Buck Bolduc
  12. My machine is not optimal for FSX/NGX. Running a AMD Phenom 1100T @ 3.9 Ghz. w/XFX 5850 Black Edition video (factory O.C.), 8 Gb DDR3 @ 1600. No addon's. At busy airports like JFK w/ vehicle traffic etc., set at 50% I get around 17-20 FPS. After take off it jumps to low 30's. The sim is smooth as silk so far. Using virtual cockpit more and more, much more realistic. Same with HUD display. If you follow the advice in the introductory "FSX setup for the NGX" you wont be sorry! Buck Bolduc
  13. Well the Bulldozer seems to be somewhat lacking. I'm going to throw an 1100T in this box as a place holder. Don't have any real problems with NGX (which surprises me) I just get nervous seeing 14-17 FPS @ JFK and other dense airports, w/AP traffic set to medium. As soon as I'm off the ground the frames climb to 27-30 depending on the scenery etc. Memory running at 1600, don't know if it makes that much difference tho. I notice on various sites that benchmarks seem to show a pretty good difference between 1600 and 1866, how that translates to FSX/PMDG I don't know. Will use a Corsair H80 radiator with the 1100 and OC the crap out of it! Buck Bolduc
  14. I am lucky. After a little problem with trying to activate livery's with the wrong number everything works great. No skeletons no stutters, no problems. What astounds me is it's smoothness at low frame rates.I still have a AMD dual socket FX-74 mobo that used FS9, any simulation @ 180FPS. I thought it was to damn LOUD! I figured the 1000 watt PSU was making all the noise. It was the heat sinks. It was o.k. during flight but drove me nuts doing regular work.I put the PSU in a new rig, no noise. It's an ENERMAX Galaxy thats 6 yrs. old now. After building a new rig I could not use the NVidia GTX8800.New rig again:Asus Sabertooth 990FX w/8gb 1866 RamATCS Cooler Master 840 case, it's big!ATI 5850AMD Phenom 965, i know it's no where as good as a Sandy Bridge!I'll see how good that Bulldozer chip is. If it comes somewhere close to an I5 it should be o.k.I held off on getting the 737NGX because i was worried the 965 would not be good enough to run it. However thanks to PMDG's superior work it does o.k. If the Bulldozer is a flop I'll re-build the dual socket with a water cooled setup and overclock the heck out of it. That machine gave me 90FPS at JFK with FS9 maxed. This simulation is almost too hard to believe. The 737NGX is so far ahead of any other sim out there it's....talk about raising the bar. Who can ever catch up? I can't wait for the 777,747 NGX's. Made my first flight KORD to KLAS landed with the HUD display, unbelievable, perfect! Now I should do the Tutorial flight, Ryan did a good job with it, i think from reading it. Buck Bolduc
