  1. Following this thread. thanks RMM
  2. I used a CH Eclipse Yoke for a while. For the price, it is a good piece of gear. There are paddles just in front of the yoke handles. They can be set for rudder control. RMM
  3. Great thread ! Thanks RMM
  4. Thanks Steve... My replacement motherboard just arrived. I will have to get the machine up and running and then digest all this. I will surely read all your posts again. P3D is new to me. Much appreciated. RMM
  5. Rmmm, on 06 Feb 2016 - 5:07 PM, said: What CPU(s) does your PC use? Hi Steve: I have a new build. i76700k CPU with 16GB of Ram and an EVGA Classified 980Ti GPU Your recent other threads are in my bookmarks. Your suggestions are really welcome and greatly appreciated. RMM
  6. SteveW... Could you provide the .CFG section titles and exact code for both the AM and Addons entries you suggest? thanks RMM
  7. Michael... Could you go into a bit more detail and step by step for the tweak you describe here, please? "After the sim is up and running, go into the task manager, enter the affinity/cores (or similar) entry, switch off core 1, quit okay, do the same once more, switch on core 1 again, make sure all cores are running again." Task Manager in Windows 7, has a Performance Tab and a "Resource Monitor" ... but I do not immediately see how to switch a core off and back on. I note that there is Core 0 and then Core 1. Also, could you explain what this actually does in system? Why does the "OFF" then "ON" change how the cores perform and activate all four? thanks RMM
  8. Just saw a tech blog write-up on Avegant's new "Glyph" retinal imaging display. Available for pre-order at a substantial discount. Any early adopters out there up to the task? RMM See: https://avegant.com/technology
  9. TED.. See Rob Ainscough's comments on his 49" 4k Sony TV here... http://www.avsim.com/topic/449322-bought-a-4k-screen-for-prepar3d/ Elsewhere on Avsim, I saw Rob comment that a bit larger size might have been good. But like all of us, we choose in on budget constraints. Rob has mentioned his 49" Sony 4k tv in numerous threads and is obviously very pleased with it as a P3D monitor. So it seems 55" is a really good sweet spot for price and real estate. I plan to buy the Samsung UN55JS7000 soon. The price was $997 then back went up. A couple of online vendors offer it at just over $1100. RMM
  10. Hello Vernon.. Go to www.rtings.com here http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/ju6500 The reviews here will help you a lot. This model is not good for watching movies. But supports 30Hz with full 4:4:4 Chroma. So for flight sim use it should be good. Regarding size...after a lot of reading on Avsim and elsewhere, the general rule is that bigger is better. But I suggest you compare with other models and read every review you can find. Compare with other brands in this size. The rtings.com reviews are the best. RMM
  11. For most LED TV's, if you want to check for 4:4:4 chroma at 30hz and 60hz then go to the reviews by Rtings. Very technical and detailed. These folks buy the TV in the store, so they are looking at a unit "From the Field" so to speak. www.rtings.com They also have excellent pages on details like viewing angle, panel types, blur, etc. RMM
  12. Hello Aaron.. Avsim has a lot of threads on this topic. If I am correct, the jump to 4k should be done only after other more cost effective upgrades of your existing set up are considered. Better not to go in underpowered. IMHO...the 680 won't be the best choice. If you do some extensive searching, you will find lots of discussion on this very subject that will inform your decision. I plan to build a new system around a 55" 4k tv in the next few months or possibly weeks. For sure this will be an i7 Skylake 16GB system and an EVGA Classified 980Ti. My choice for the 55" 4k tv is the Samsung UN55JS7000, SUHD, IPS panel. Hope this helps. RMM
  13. Hello Adam.. I am planning a very similar system except with a 55" 4k LED television as primary monitor. I will go with the EVGA Classified 980Ti, because the cooling system is highly regarded. Also, I plan to use a Noctua NH-D15 or D15S for cooling the CPU. Have not made my mind up on the mobo as of yet. System on SSD will use a Samsung 950Pro with NVME. HDD my existing WD Black Caviar 2TB hard drive. I am thinking to hold off my purchase until the new Nvidea Pascal GPU's arrive. This should drive the 980Ti prices down quickly. Hope this helps. Your system choices look good to me. RMM
  14. Hello Ray.. Sent you a followup PM. Hoping for some screenshots from FS Flight Keeper that show flight path on a map for heading review, altitude during the flight, speed especially during approach. Typical post flight debrief for student pilot training by simulator. Thanks RMM
  15. Here is a sample report from FSiPanel. Sorry could not get the image into this post. http://www.fsipanel.com/DL/LandingReport.pdf Limited to the Approach and Landing. No vertical flight path on map. Great feedback but limited. RMM
  16. Hello Henry.. Great work. But seems complicated. Here is a snapshot of how Rex Latitude presents a flight. Notice the suitability for typical Practice Area and Pattern work for PPL flight lessons. But the Rex Latitude has a much greater purpose as a virtual operator / economy system. Those features are not needed for my purpose. The developer from Rex Simulations said..."there are dozens of add-ons" that do flight debrief. But I cannot seem to find them. 17. I am planning a free ground school for young aviators using two flight sim rigs. Already have FSX on a Dreamflyer with 3x23" monitors. Planning in a few weeks for P3D on a 4k 55"LED TV with Iris Dynamics Force Feedback Yoke - MFG Rudders and a new i7 Skylake/980Ti box. Yoke and rudders already installed on an older desktop. For the training in sim, I need a solid flight path monitor. Maybe you have seen Cloud Ahoy? To use this product on a simulator requires both a ForeFlight and a Cloud Ahoy Subscription and a 3G telephone connection on an iPad. That is a lot of overhead. My search for a solid flight debriefing add on has shown a few products...Rex Latitude / TacView are two examples. But these products look to be overkill for the basic needs that I have. REQUEST: All I require is a complete flight path record of both altitude and heading on a map. Terrain is not required. 3D is good but also not required. Where the students go off heading in practicing stalls, or lose altitude in a ground reference maneuver....that is what needs to be clearly shown. Simple feedback that shows progress in basic flight skills. Please give me any suggestions on capable products that run on either FSX and/or P3D v3. thanks RMM
  18. Thanks Mick.. The Reality XP Garmin GPS products are still very much in demand as indicated by A2A support for this specific product. See here... https://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=108&t=35825 Here is more information from another forum regarding the Reality XP Gauges. Reality XP Flightline T and N Gauges These are great gauges, but they were developed at a time where airplane cockpits were in 2d format. Like the defult FSX airplanes or the Carenado C182Q, Bonanza etc. The newer airplanes, like the a2a C172 have 3d modeled cockpits and you cannot replace the gauges. So they have have lost their usefulness. I still fly the F33 Bonanza with FLT/N gauges in the panel, but for newer airplanes, they cannot be installed. That is why you do not hear much about them anymore. RMM
  19. Hello Beerwolfe.. OK, thanks for the correction. I have been reading as much as I can and obviously misunderstood. Thanks. So is your main reason for using this product then the Touch Screen facility and added realism gained thereby? Do you notice any other positive factors over the default gauges? thanks RMM
  20. Hello Beerwolfe.. Yes, of course, I watched several videos in fact. There is one for the C172 as well. What I don't understand, though, is what is the speciality of this product? A separate window can present the panel. Reality XP makes claim and reviews report better modeling of the gauge function. What about SimTouch? Why the requirement for an internet connection? SimTouch does little to explain what they do actually besides running in an independent off-Sim status. What advantage that has and what makes their gauges worthwhile, I just don't see any information. If it is only the Touch Screen facility that is special...then why the need for a live constant internet connection to their server? RMM
  21. Another question is...simply..Why? Why not just use the default gauges in a separate window? What does this product bring to the table that makes it worthwhile? thanks RMM
  22. Beerwolfe.. In the Cessna 172, default or A2A, does the complete Radio Stack/Xpndr/Autopilot bank also come up on one screen, separate from the "Six Pack"? thanks RMM
  23. Just to be a little more clear, I am specifically interested in feedback on the "Six Pack" set of gauges and the Navigation instruments. I don't have much interest at this time in the GPS products. thanks RMM
  24. Reality XP http://www.reality-xp.com/flightsim/flt/features/index.html SimTouch Plus 2 http://www.simtouch.eu/Information/SimTouchPlus2.aspx I don't find much feedback on Reality XP gauges and even less on SimTouch Plus 2. SimTouch Plus 2 works on a regular monitor as does Reality XP. So no need to buy a new monitor. I have a 19" and a 24". In a few weeks, I will build a whole new system with 4k 55" LED TV, new computer etc. So a second monitor for the panel would be nice. Are these products worth buying or is a separate window from the sim (FSX and P3D) good enough? BTW- I am a student pilot. So I will be flying the A2A Cessna Trainer almost exclusively. No Heavy Metal, PDMG type aircraft ever. Thanks RMM
