  1. I haven't made a scenery since FS2000 using Abacus's ASD, so when I found a free download for ADE9 I was stoked. There's been a project that is very near and dear to my heart that I've wanted to do for 5+ years, and that was an upgrade of KNUC and to create a cruise ship stop on the western edge of the island with a nice resort town.The whole idea was to give cruise ships another place other than Catalina and Ensenada to call on, with a nice strip of beach that exists just west of the airport it was made to order. With the airport on higher ground you could have some nice semi high rise hotels and cantina's and piers for the cruise ships to tie up to. I even wanted to have a small private boat marina as well.I've had ADE9 for a few days now, the airport mods were fairly straight forward but the grass polygon for both the airport and the Port of San Clemente refuses to show. I've been using unmarked taxiways for roads but they don't work well heading into the Port since there is an elevation change. Here's what it looks like so far....I'm working hard on this but there are no really decent tutorials on YouTube and cover the problems I'm having. I'd like to also have jetways, some AI traffic and I'm hoping to add a MCAS parking area with some static F/A-18's as well. I'm trying to understand how to import things but again, it's been a very long time and there's just no real tutorial showing how.Any help would be appreciated, I'd like to get this done by May 3rd, that would have been the birthday for the person who was the original collaberator on this deal, I couldn't get it done while she was here so maybe I can get it done in her absence.Thanks.

  3. ..when I paint I get these delusions of another virtual airline until something happens…either I get hungry and need to run to In-N-Out or have to go pick up the wife and kids. Anyway. I was bored today. Fleet of 10 each with its own unique reg and national flags, some are reg’d in the US, some Mexico, a couple in Honduras. I’ll burn it onto a CD for later consideration I guess. Oh yeah, I was bored last weekend too...I think I'm just gonna go fishing this weekend.Petey~
  4. I fly a lot of GA out here in the west, I combine my flight simming with play in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters. I will fly from my home in Fresno to whatever course I want to play. If you guys ever expand out here let me know, Monterey (Pebble Beach) would be a good "domicile".

  9. In what has been a 5 1/2 year on-again/off-again love affair with this low-fare airline I have finally been threatened with tar and fathering if I didn't give it it's own voice. In 2006 I created what was then Budg-Jet Airlines, a sort of tongue in cheek poke at the rental car giant, of whom I owned an airport franchise outlet from 1991 to 1995. The original concept used decidedly obsolete equipment to fly to totally inappropriate locations as a sort of anti-airline airline. The most popular route was our Boeing 720 service between Miami and Daytona Beach. Three times a day.To say "time has refined the airline" I think would be an understatement. Those involved have stuck around, requested some changes, helped update the livery to poke the rental car giant squarely in the eye, and built what could be considered a legitimate service area. But for me as it always has been, this airline is loaded with entertaining features and content. Oh, it IS a virtual airline, and we are accepting pilots, but let's not say that if it's not fun nobody is going to have anything to do with it. Spending essentially a quarter of my daily Starbucks budget (BudgJet?) on a one year domain only serves to allow me to share my "unique" sense of humor about this airline and the hobby in general.   10. I can agree to a point Marc, but looking at the roster too, there are people who have been on it since 2005 that have 10 hours and are considered active. And not just one or two, there's at least a handful like that. Fixed routes isn't always a necessaity, a Charter Airline wouldn't need them, but there's very little beyond a basic structure here. There are some routes listed but there are no deparure or arrival times, and no assigned aircraft. I know you're a very diplomatic person, a lot more so than I have been lately and I appreciate that. This one just makes me head hurt to look at it.
  11. Still getting posts on their board as of December, but they have no established routes and their fleet choices are all over the place. Look to me more like they try to appeal to people who don't want to fly for a scructured VA so they give you every plane imaginable and let you fly anywhere with it. Begs to ask: How is that an airline? Sound more like just firing up the old FS and taking a plane to point B from point A, you don't need to be part of any airline just to do that.
  12. Most of the one's that claim to be "the largest VA in existance" are so because of the huge number of inactive pilots. One, which shall go nameless, has been around for about 10 years and never deleted anyone from their roster. Some pilots haven't posted a flight in 8+ years, yet they "claim" to have more than 1,000 active pilots. Another Canada based VA has a huge number of pilots but is 100% automatic, there has been no "human interface" in at least 2 years I'm aware of. Jim's right; you can find a large VA but the stats don't mean a thing without updates and human support.
  13. I do have one suggesting, your logo has 12 stars, with the obvious connection to the number 13 in many elements of our national seal and flag, maybe add one more star to the logo?
  14. Might help if you list the duties you expect with each position. They do vary from airline to airline.

  17. Dave, I put flying at a faster sim rate in the same category as I do pausing to go take a leak. It's something that makes the hobby convenient, nothing more. As a real world aviator I'm sure you can laugh at some of the "realistic to the ninth degree" as I do, I constantly see VA's claiming to be FAR compliant that are laughably not so. At my VA Air Fresno our ACARS is the older FS ACARS from SATA, there is a "no sim compression" function that is optional but I don't use it, just as I don't insist on no pauses, no PIC (pilot in cockpit) or having your crash detector enabled. We're more or less a regional airline and our flights are just over an hour or less, however we will be updating our routes (and fleet) at the end of March to allow some flights of up to 3 hours with simulated layovers between segments. We've been around for almost 14 years with a couple of necessary closures for real-life stuff, but what we use as far as ACARS works great for us.

  19. Last fall I was contracted to design a livery and paint several aircraft for an Austin, Texas based virtual airline. Everything was going well until about the beginning of November, when the person who contracted me essentially vanished off the face of the planet. He deleted me and either got rid of, or has me blocked on FaceBook, his email address has been deleted and so has his Skype account. I was pretty much left holding onto the aircraft he had contracted me to do, which I have for the last nearly 3 months. Since he has not come forward I'd like to offer them to someone here that may want to do a small Texas based airline.The aircraft are Project Open Sky's 737's, there are a total of 11 uniquely registered aircraft:5 Boeing 737-700's with a common livery and unique registrations, 2 are winglet aircraft.5 Boeing 737-800's with a comon livery reversed in color from the -700 and unique reg's, 2 are winglet aircraft.1 Boeing 737-900 non-winglet that serves as a logo jet for the airline with enlarged scripts and logo.I would not be adverse to painting a few more aircraft, 757's or whatever, for the new owner if he can keep it open for 6 months.The aircraft are orange and white and are immediately recognisable to anyone from Texas or who follows college football. There is a prominent script with the domain name on the aft fuselage, I checked about an hour before this posting and that domain is still unsecured according to GoDaddy, it would be a $9.99 a year domain for the new owners.I have a small route map that I had begun working on and some other paste up images, all of which would go with the aircraft.Anyone interest drop me an email or a PM, I am being purposely vauge on the name of the aircraft and other details to keep someone from hamstringing a potential new owner but rest assured, the liveries are nice and the concept is sound.
