With my current setup I get decent performance, but what would be a better upgrade - keep the cpu & mobo I have and buy a 6600xt, or upgrade to a new cpu and motherboard and keep my current GPU? P3D v5.3 with OrbX Global&Vector, Freemesh2, lots of scenery, i7 8700k @ 4.5hz, 32gb, 8gb AMD 580x Windows 10 Even with all the scenery, mesh and AlphaIndia ai traffic I get acceptable frame rates.

I just uninstalled the client, then installed the 5.2 client and it all works fine - am I missing out (should I do a full re-install?). It looks and performs far, far better than 5.1HF.

Does the GTN 750 work on a touch screen monitor? Does the gps user interface work this way, or do I have to point & click with a mouse? The main reason I want to buy the gauge is to use it this way on a second monitor which is a touch screen. Edit : Windows 10 & P3D v5 HF2.

P3DV5: "DGXI error device hung" with an RTX 2080Ti (?)
RobotJB replied to David Roch's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
Have to offer an apology to LM here - an updated bios was available from my motherboard manufacturer so went ahead and did an update and everything now works as it should. Fully loaded with AIG traffic, OrbX, GSX, et al and everything is running very smoothly. I would guess that something was updated in the ME code and the calls that the software was making to drivers/libraries in the old BIOS was expecting a newer version. YMMV I guess. -
P3DV5: "DGXI error device hung" with an RTX 2080Ti (?)

I tried to rollback to an earlier driver (v18.2 on Radeon 580) and it still crashed. Windows update installed v19.2 drivers without asking me (!) and it still falls over unless I stick with vanilla. Currently considering installing 20.2.2 as this works fine with all my other games. P3D v4.5, FSXSE, IL2, cities skylines, arma3, GTA5 all work fine. Even Red Dead Redemption 2 worked first time on my PC! 😄 -
P3DV5: "DGXI error device hung" with an RTX 2080Ti (?)

This is quite obviously NOT a hardware or driver issue - its a bug in the LM code. No if's or but's. Does anyone know if they are aware of the issue? -

Vanilla reinstall and no repeat of the problem for me. Just have to go with one add-on at a time until it falls over again. I hope it's something that can be addressed in a future hot-fix. -

May be of interest to some, but I only get this error when I fully load-up with OrbX. Global, Trees, OpenLC all installed today (plus the excellent Chicago X) and bingo! started to get this this crash today. Will spend this evening doing a full reinstall to vanilla and will try again without the add-on's. -
[Answered] AI Reborn - status?
RobotJB replied to Somebody_Else's topic in FSReborn Series Support Forum
This makes me happy. Is there a predicted release date for this? Will it be available on SimMarket? -
[Answered] AI Reborn - status?

I am intrigued as to whether this add-on is just controling the AI on the ground, or if the correct approaches and departures are modeled? -
Accu-Feel V2 for Prepar3D V3
RobotJB replied to Poppet's topic in Prepar3D Tips, Tricks and How To's
Not sure what I did, but got it working Poppet, thanks. -
Did you have any luck getting FFS S340 working in P3D? Keeps CTD'ing for me.

Accu-Feel V2 for Prepar3D V3
RobotJB replied to Poppet's topic in Prepar3D Tips, Tricks and How To's
I'm pretty sure this is not compatible with 3.3.5, unless someone can prove me wrong. The AccuFeel entry does not show on the menu bar (other modules work fine). I even cut&pasted the entries from the FSXSE DLL file into the P3D version. :( -
I have three monitors (2x 4:3, 1x 16:10) but I cannot run Eyefinity without lots of faffing about. I can get round this on P3D just by dragging-and-dropping the edges of the application across the 3 monitors, but if I try this on FSXSE it just gives me a black screen one third of the way across the picture. FSXSE - https://i.imgur.com/Co9ZzDU.jpg P3D http://i.imgur.com/44LL91j.png works fine. Is there any way around this? Edit-oops Windows 7 and AMD 7970, with center monitor on DVI to DVI, side monitors on miniDP to vga (1x active & 1x passive adaptors). I was told that I should only need 1 active adaptor for the mini display ports to work with Eyefinity, but this is not the case.

AMD refuse to support Crossfire unless you use full-screen, which seems a strange decision consider how Nvidia drivers work fine that way. And if I do buy a 980 now, how do I know Nvidia will not purposely hobble it with new drivers after they release their next iteration of GPU in two years time? It is far to much of a gamble TBH, so R390 for me.
-
Bear in mind that Nvidia are beginning to show signs of anti-consumer behaviour. The Gameworks API that some developers are using causes AMD hardware to under-perform compared to the newest Nvidia cards, along with a deliberate handicapping of older Nvidia cards in Gameworks and new driver releases. This is quite appalling from Nvidia, and makes me wonder whether I will upgrade to the new AMD 390 card instead of the 980 I had my eye on.

Maybe because it interferes with the free expression of ideas and information that is a central plank of the EU constitution? If the European Commission can fine Apple, Google and Microsoft... Bah. What do I know?
-
Whoa! I think that *might* be illegal in the EU. Valve need to take a look at that.

The images you posted are exactly the same as I had with FSX when my old Radeon 4890 graphics card was failing. Its possible you may have a faulty card that needs replacing.
