No more Flight on Steam
With Flight pulled from Steam and GFW Marketplace closing, will there be any way to purchase Flight DLC in the future?

Flight 50% off on Steam
I'm hoping for a 75% off sale before pulling the trigger on Hawaii and Alaska. Maybe the Carbon Cub Deluxe too.

Windows 8 and FSX - Worth the download!
Not much different from any past operating system releases, really. When Vista came out my Epson Perfection 1240U scanner had no Vista driver, so I could no longer use it in Vista. I still believe there's no official Vista/Win7/Win8 driver for it. Luckily I still dual boot Windows XP. At least with your HP 1005 it sounds like HP is working on a Win8 driver to release in January.

Windows 8 and FSX - Worth the download!
Nope, the upgrade assistant looks at the version of Windows you currently have installed. If you currently have 32-bit Windows, your Win8 iso will be 32-bit. If you currently have 64-bit Windows, your Win8 iso will be 64-bit. It didn't give me an option of 32-bit or 64-bit when I upgraded a few days ago. Beware!!

Windows 8 and FSX - Worth the download!
I just upgraded my mobo/CPU/video card and decided to take advantage of the Windows 8 offer too. I haven't installed FSX yet, but so far I'm liking Windows 8. I was using Vista 64 Ultimate, so it was cheaper to go to 8 for $40 over Windows 7 for ~$100+. Bought a 256GB SSD as well. With that much storage why would you NOT install FSX on the SSD? Also a caution to anyone thinking of taking advantage of the upgrade special - whatever version (32-bit or 64-bit) of Windows you currently have on your system... that's the version of Windows 8 you'll get with the upgrade. So don't think of installing an old XP 32-bit version to upgrade to 64-bit Windows 8 - it won't happen.

Flight post mortem.
Agree 100%. I didn't spend any money on Flight because it didn't have enough. "Enough" is subjective, but to me it was lacking too many things I was interested in. No jets. Where is the traffic (ground and air)? Where is my home airport, and other POIs I enjoy flying around? Where is the cockpit for some of these great war birds? Had we seen 3rd party development allowed in very early on, it could have been a very different story.

Flight will cost a small fortune
And then there are FSX users like me who don't pay for add-ons OR pirate them. I'm quite content with the vanilla FSX scenery, planes, traffic, weather, etc.. I paid ~$30 for FSX, so to have to pay $20 PER STATE with Flight is a little bit hard to swallow. Hopefully MS will run sales like they do with their Xbox games/DLC. I just can't see spending $500+ on a sim, like some people do.

Journey to Alaska Pack announced!
I'm thinking $20-$30. Similar to Hawaii.

What aircraft do you want in Flight?
Cessna 172 Skyhawk and Beechcraft Baron 58. Oh, and a P-51 cockpit.

Loving it
I'm really digging the game too. I can see it replacing FSX when I just want to do some GA VFR flying. Of course FSX will still be my main sim for cross-country jet trips. :good:

Can't Even Negotiate the Balloons
I had not thought about using an Xbox controller. I'm currently using an old Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro. How does the rudder control work with the 360 pad?
