It's Out
The sim is great. Still a Beta, so lots of things missing, but to me it is already enjoyable, and finally we can have a proper WWII airplane outside the boundaries of FSX. ED is showing support and listening to the community, so the future of this product is looking quite bright.

Preflight to Cruise with 737NGX and FS2Crew
I made an FSX movie, that also contains quite some FS2Crew usage. Hope you enjoy! :)

Everyone is okay with flying in a simulation but how about a real plane?
I had my first glider flight Saturday, so I can now give an impression. It was awesome! A bit weird and new for the first two minutes, but as soon as I got used to the continuous moving around of the thing, it turned quickly into the best experience of my life! Can't wait for my lessons to begin. :)

New FSX build - Thoughts/Constructive Criticism?
Nothing, but it would save you money (both when you buy, and when you pay your energy bill).

New FSX build - Thoughts/Constructive Criticism?
As you get lower on power draw the efficiency drops. Getting low with a 550W means you have to get under 100W of power consumpion (roghly 20% of nominal power) to start losing efficiency, which is unlikely even on idle. Getting low with a 1000W means getting under 200W, which may well happen on the other hand. This means that on idle, with a PSU that is too big for your system, you will have a bigger power draw. Just like piston engines have a efficiency range, in a very similar way PSUs have their best spot in terms of power output/power consumption. http://www.anandtech.com/show/2624/3

New FSX build - Thoughts/Constructive Criticism?
Efficiency will drop under certain load factors and above some others. You need a well proportioned PSU to get the 80% efficiency. http://superuser.com/questions/320451/why-after-installing-a-80-plus-bronze-psu-my-power-consumption-is-now-higher

New FSX build - Thoughts/Constructive Criticism?
There is, cause it will eat up more power at idle. Also it will cost way more. Get the Asus GTX670 DirectCU II, with stock overclocking. That thing costs less and goes just like the 680.

New FSX build - Thoughts/Constructive Criticism?
Way too powerful PSU. I'd say 650W is sufficient.

Help with my machine
nuNce replied to oneproudaussie's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcAlso refer to this list. You can see the BCode when you reboot windows and see the small popup window that tells you the system has stopped working.

Help with my machine
nuNce replied to oneproudaussie's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcDon't use auto vcore. Try 1.25 and make sure load line calibration is on a high setting in the BIOS. Also, disable Hyper Threading (HT).

Help with my machine
nuNce replied to oneproudaussie's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcCould you post us which error code BSOD gives you? Most probable reasons for unstable overclock are: -too low vcore -HT on -bad PSU -unsufficient cooling

Fuel planner
I usually pick a cargo weight, get from vroute the ZFW and then input it in the load manager. You can't choose pax number and cargo weight, but still is the quickest way to get the loadout you want.

Virtualcol Jetstream 31
Taking a look at your pics, seems like the external and internal were made by two different guys. The quality of the external model is rather nice, but the interior lacks a lot of quality, like they left some parts at the sketch level (yoke for instance).

Help picking up next GPU
nuNce replied to nuNce's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcI've read the 580 is a really inefficient card energy-wise. I guess I'll be waiting for series 6xx mid-range and check out 660Ti and 670. Thanks!

Help picking up next GPU
nuNce replied to nuNce's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcThanks for the reply. I guess there is no big choice then, I'll go nVidia. As for power supply, 550W of a good manufacturer are more than enough. Check those benchs relative to system consumption (not just GPU consumption) and consider they were using an i7 980x. As you can see they never went over 450W of total system consumption.

Help picking up next GPU
Hello, I'm getting a new PC, and next month I will pick up my new video card. The new PC is mainly composed of: i5 3570k (planning to run it as high as it gets, possibly 4.5-4.8Ghz) Noctua NH-D14 cooler (to get it as high as possible, considering the heat it seems to deliver) Asrock z77 extreme4 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR 1600 Corsair VX550 PSU Now, I'm picking up a new GPU for it, which I will be able to buy next month. Since the new nVidia cards are coming out I will probabily wait for them, but I know that new cards not always deliver better performances in our sims, since they rarely make use of the whole range of new features like normal videogames do. I play many sims, ranging from FSX to Black Shark 2, Il-2 Sturmovik 1946 and Cliffs of Dover. I mainly play FSX right now, and I read nVidias perform better due to biased programming. Is that STILL true? My screen is set at 1080p, so I need quite some memory since I like pumping up textures a lot. :) My question is, what would be the best buy for me? Not considering the new nVidias right now, and given the fact that you can easily find close to new cards, that have just been used a few months at good prices, where should I point at? My budget is 250-300€, and seems like the solution for me would be 7950 (with some strech on the budget upper limit or an used card). Do you have any considerations on this card? Thank you.

+1 for vRoute. Is cheap, does the job and is a nice and good route database!
