  1. Do any of you know if this has fixed the issue with the Microsoft Sidewinder FFB joystick that was introduced in v3.1? The only work around I had for that was to stick tape over the hand 'sensor'...
  2. I'm seeing this issue too. I have my setup identically in v3.1 as I did in v3, but now memory isn't unloading and seems to eventually OOM, despite starting out around 3.0GB VAS in use. I think I saw somewhere someone put it down to the use of road traffic in v3.1. They stated that if you disable road traffic then the memory leak doesn't occur. I might get some time to test tomorrow so will report back if I confirm this to be the case. FWIW I'm running it at 10%.
  3. Thanks for the info Dylan - I'll keep an eye on that thread.
  4. This still doesn't seem to be resolved in v3.1, despite the new Triton files contained therein. Is that expected?
  5. I think the main wish is to sort out that problem that leaves nVidia Maxwell users with a 'capped' power state when using Ultra water - and the consequence knock on effect on GPU speed, and ultimately framerates as a result.

All over the Prepar3d.com forum http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6312&t=113579 Seems they (AMD) have found the bug and will fix it. I guess it'll be in their big driver (Crimson) in a short while.
  7. To be specific, the manual says to disable it when P3D HDR is enabled. If you're not using HDR in P3D you wouldn't get this problem - it's not a blanket issue with all P3D users. HTH Simon
  8. Maybe the answer is to ask someone to test on a hyperthreaded i3 (2C, 4T) to see if performance improves with HT Off. @Rob, do you know of a way I can 'record' the flights so I can reproduce them identically after changing my BIOS setting?
  9. Is there any (free!) software I can use to record flights so they can be replayed over and over with different BIOS settings? I'm not talking about recording the video, but the actual 'flightpath' as it were....
  10. Just FYI, I too had that file blocking my upgrade (it stops the profile being copied to the new location). I deleted it and it upgraded fine in the end luckily...
  11. All good points. I've had AMD (ATI) cards for the last 18 years since I started building my own machines, but never an nVidia card, so it has to be said I am rooting for the red (or green and black, depending which logo you're looking at) team here! Simon
  12. No chance at all I'd say Rob. Crossfire only works with exclusive full screen mode apparently... KR Simon
  13. I'm fascinated to see how the R9 390X goes. I have an overclocked 290X at the moment and I don't think it deserves the hate that AMD cards seem to get in the flight sim community. Indeed, I held off getting the 980 recently to see how the 390X performs. KR Simon
  14. Hi there, Sorry for the slight thread hijack, but I use ORBX England and Aerosoft's EGLL. This is what I have noted to delete/rename: ADE_FTX_ENG_EGLL.BGL ADE_FTX_ENG_EGLL_objects.BGL FTX_ENG_EGLL_objects.bgl If I don't do these I have duplicate Concorde etc. Question to you and Rob: Is there anything else I should be deleting/renaming? Also thread relevant comment: Looks like I'll be buying MT6 whilst it's on special, unless there are any other P3Dv2 compatible traffic add-ons on the horizon? KR Simon
  15. Rob, I realise that you publish the settings you use, but what tweaks are you running for the above video? When I say tweaks I mean anything that goes into Prepar3d.cfg that isn't available in the settings GUI... I'm guessing OPTIMIZE_PARTS=1 is one, but what else? Thanks! Simon
  16. Weird. That's not my experience. Mine 'sticks' and stays stuck...
  17. OK, I've had time to test this proper. FTX England, P3D 2.5 Global, Vector, FS Ultimate (all made immaterial by the presence of England) ASN installed but not running. Midday, 'Building Storms Weather theme', Aerosoft A320 (current) with BA livery. Load 'take off state'. Go. FPS recorded at undercarriage fully retracted, 20 seconds after takeoff: Optimize Parts=0 Optimize Dense Clouds=0 Min/Avg/Max 21.0/30.6/42.1 Optimize Parts=0 Optimize Dense Clouds=1 Min/Avg/Max 24.4/32.4/46.1 Optimize Parts=1 Optimize Dense Clouds=0 Min/Avg/Max 24.3/35.5/52.7 Optimize Parts=1 Optimize Dense Clouds=1 Min/Avg/Max 20.4/33.3/54 I think the last test's minimum FPS was a minor anomolly, but generally speaking each of the settings improved performance somewhat. 4790k @ 4.7 290X @ 1150MHz 16GB 2400 RAM 1TB SSD HTH Simon
  18. Hi Graham, To be honest my testing wasn't that scientific, but if I had to say I'd guess that it didn't really change the overcast (although I was flying in fog so hard to be sure), but I did see an improvement in performance. I'll do more testing when I get back from the shops!
  19. Hi Graham, Thanks for that exhaustive reply. And FWIW I tried enabling the Optimize Dense Clouds options tonight, and I think it's made a difference in overcast conditions, but that may be a placebo. I'll do some more exhaustive tests tomorrow night when I'll try out the above. Thanks again! Simon
  20. Chaps, does anyone know how to do what is displayed here, with minimum, average and max FPSs displayed? I don't seem to get that in my P3D? Thanks! Simon
  21. Congrats to the OP, and whilst I can't share in the enjoyment as I didn't receive the same increase, while I was in the Prepar3d.cfg file I also noticed this: OPTIMIZE_DENSE_CLOUDS=0 Has anyone had a play with this setting to see if it offers similar results? Simon
  22. Thanks for the exhaustive reply Rob - very helpful. I suppose my one remaining question is therefore "what was the two options you disabled in Vector to give the performance improvement you got?" That's the last one, I promise! TIA Simon
  23. Thanks for the update Rob. So in your opinion and experience, do you think an overclocked 980 would be enough for 2560/1440 with: ASN/Orbx (including vector)/REX/Airbus/FS Global? Or would I only get away with a 1920/1200 panel with that? FWIW the rest of my system is 4790k at 4.7 and 16GB 2400Mhz RAM, 1TB SSD, etc. Thanks again Simon
  24. Sorry to bump this thread again, but Rob, your initial video about 4k and the 970. Is that a 'naked' P3D install, or does that have add-ins etc? I'm at the point of upgrading my monitor and graphics card from a 1600x1200 10 year old TFT along with a 290X to either a 980X or Titan X and either a 1900x1200 or 2560x1440 monitor, hence my question. Thanks! Simon
