  1. Same here after update the aircraft is dead... No clickspots missing screens and indercarriage. Did repair and she is back. will try update again tomorrow.
  2. Another twin jet Boeing would be as exciting as watching the grass grow. DC-10, 727, A-330. Its about time PMDG turned there talents to something other than another Boeing twin they are all fundamentally the same even the 787 which is basically a 767NG.
  3. For the guys who dont use xplane the PMDG DC-6 is a superb aircraft and you will love every second you spend with her. Easily my favorite Xplane aircraft and a joy to fly at every level. It really is a lesson in flight management that will improve your flying of other aircraft. The Virtual engineer is fantastic making life very easy for DC-6 newbies. In fact it is quite a bit easier to manage at a basic level than the A2A Connie I was lucky enough to spend a few days at everts Air Cargo in Anchorage and Fairbanks last year and the year previous photographing there Dc-6's and C-47's parked in among a fleet of 747-8's and 400's. The DC-6's get "every" pilots eyes attention and on take off there ears as well. Was interested to see many of the 6 drivers are ex airline guys who have chosen to go back to real flying after years of the mundane life spent in long haul(been there done that) and the hussle and grind of short haul(still there still doing it). So if you have any interest is an aircraft that 70 years later is still out earning a living many places around the world going into airports no jet would dare to go in conditions that try every man and woman the DC-6 is one awesome piece of aircraft. Here are a few images to see these awesome machines at work and an just how great this addon is. DC-6 Flightdeck the large tube is a heater to keep the -25 to -30 degrees at bay from damaging radios etc. The universal take off technique is airborne gear up immediately your airborne then an almost immediate commencement of flap retraction with power reduction to climb power just after flaspa are fully retracted. Makes for awesome photos! Likw i said the gear comes up early! The heavy maintenance facility in Fairbanks. The guys working on the R2800's are simply incredible. In her element leaving the 747-8's in her wake some 60+ years after her first flight i very much doubt the 747's in her wake will still be around in another 70 years and still the best way to move 25000Ib's of cargo into an unmade strip in the snow, ice and rain.
  4. There is so much to love about Anchorage and Alaska its only reasonable one of the busiest freight airports in the world gets updated. Whats not to love..
  5. Hi guys I am continually getting an update flag on FTX Global Vector even after i get a 1,45 update successfully installed notification. Just wondering am i missing something? I click on the FTX window selecting "Update product". It then places it in the queue to download note its the only download. Once downloaded i get a notification saying download complete 1.45 installed. I reapply the elevation corrections etc in the vector tool. There is an orange installation options box which if clicked opens three choices ie install manually, I already have backup or dl and install then create backup. Does anyone know where the info on those choices are as i use the last one and i get a window opening for a location foe a folder and no idea what it is doing but the download starts again with a second notification saying its updated to 1.45, Again on the front page the red update avail is still there. SO when you are updating can someone please go through the correct sequence or where the manual update files are as i cant find them anywhere. Thanks Dazz
  6. G'day, Purchased precipitFx yesterday via Simmarket and have yet to receive a serial. The purchase email stated one had been generated and would be linked via my Old Prop account which at the time I did not have as I had no idea you needed one to buy from a reseller. Since then I have set one up with the same email address yet there is nothing in my account age or on the Vfx app. Can you advise how to go about getting one? Thanks Darren
  7. Just wondering if anyone is working on either of the Wunala's? Either OJB with her red engines or the latter longer lived OEJ. Cheers..
  8. How about the Everts special DC-6. Took this a few weeks ago in ANC.
  9. If you think reflections are an issue in the DC-6 I would recommend you stay well away from a glass cockpit where they are ever present and can be exceptionally distracting. No complaints here about the DC-6 and its panels. Darren Howie
  10. I'll answer from the perspective of someone who has been flying for 31 years and an A-330 and A-320 Captain plus flown Boeing as well. First the aircraft are not "antique" as you put it. The DC-6 and DC-4 plus a whole pile of others are still earning a living in various parts of the world flying into airports no A320 or 737 would ever considered safe going. The aircraft are far more challenging to fly for several reasons. No FMGC to make life easy and you actually have to "know" how to fly to fly it. The aircraft is far more sensitive to operate. Try ramming the throttles forward on a DC-6 and see what happens with no FADEC to protect the pilots ham fistedness. The aircraft is far more interesting to operate with complicated fuel system and multi stage superchargers plus fuel temps oil consumption etc. Finally no modern aircraft other than the C130 can pull the payloads into these incredibly poorly equipped airports in some of the most remote places in the world. In short no other aircraft modern or otherwise is anywhere near replacing them so far from being antique they are still the most cost efficient reliable means of large payload transport we have today. Oh and they are brilliant aircraft. If you want "antique" just look at the 737 Max overhead panel now that is a true antique a disorganised shambles of switches scattered from side to side and top to bottom. Anyway you may want to try Xplane it handles far better the "feel" of flying an aircraft compared to the other one and I spent a lot of years playing and testing on it.
