  1. Flight model feels pretty good now. Always found hand flying and landings disappointing previously.
  2. For me it's disabled. I had it enabled in 2020, for better representation of cities. But in 2024, there is now "photogrammetry from satellite photos" in rural areas. It's disgusting. Doesn't look good from *any* altitude.

Found this gem on YouTube. These guys flying like a simmer does, but for real. Music and filming is sublime. youtube.com/@CockpitCasual
  4. Thread lacking context; the video linked is not "islandsim's take on PMDG"; it's Islandsim's take on James Fuller's review. James has legitimate opinions and criticisms about the product, which Islandsim takes offense with. Not sure why he can't just give his own opinions on the product instead of attacking the editing and language of of James's review.
  5. "The airplanes fly like (enter bad word here)" This part is true, but you won't find many people to agree with you because so few understand. i.e. I can count on one hand the number of developers that know how to implement an accurate flight model. In X-Plane however, a 6 year old boy can follow the tutorial and get an accurate flight model out of it. If flight dynamics is what you're after, you picked the wrong sim. But P3D is in an even worse place; it's not even possible to configure an aircraft with accurate flight dynamics in that sim. The only way is to use an external flight model.
  6. You could do it without the external terrain database. Create a dummy SimbObject with onGround=true , move in in x/y, and then you get Z coordinate when you read the position.
