It’s just a really poor reflection on the community as a whole. This airplane is not perfect but this thread is filled with far from perfect internet users. It’s not about that though. Be greatful for the efforts of the developer and if the aircraft does not meet your standards than simply don’t purchase it or wait till it does. But the assaults on developers and the arrogance that some expect literal perfection right out of the box is just off the charts.

I’ve read this thread and I have to say, I have no idea why any developer produces anything for this community. Some of you are relentless and aggressive and arrogant and all the things that really make someone unlikable. No product is ever 100% complete upon release and everything is constantly being improved upon. When you buy flight sim airplane of which 99.9% or you have never flown in real life and then spend time tearing it to pieces because some feature that most likely is not a bug but user error does not work according to your expectations is really tough. It’s just an observation I have about this thread and how some in this community react.

Great topic! For me, when I do have time to fly I enjoy flying the airliners and stick with the Fenix. It’s a tremendous plane. The thing is, once I’ve flown a 3 hour airline route I don’t have much more interest in booting up another flight. I think that’s why lots of us fly what we like and only occasionally feel the need to branch out from that. It’s not our fault- it’s just human nature to stick with what you know, what works and what you can count on when time is of the essence.

I watched most of V1’s stream and you are not being fair to him. I don’t want to thread drift but he openly admitted that it was a “first look” stream and he shared documents like the manual with the chat that are 150 pages long. I’m not sure why you need to be an expert on the plane to showcase it for viewers who might be interested in the aircraft. V1 has done more for the flight sim community than most so the shots against him are really not fair.

I’m interested in this plane as I’m a huge airbus fan( I know this is an adopted airbus but still.) I’ll wait for the streamers to take it up and fly it around and hopefully I’ll learn some of the ins and outs of flying the jet. If the learning curve is not too steep I might dip my toe in the waters and buy it but for now I’m thrilled with my Fenix a320 ops so I’m all good either way.

I love the program and how it functions but I don’t have any idea why they can’t provide on route flight separation in any meaningful way. I mean it’s an ATC program and they don’t point out other traffic at all. That’s pretty hard to understand how that’s not implemented when even default ATC can do that.

This plane feels like it’s been in development forever. After all this time, anything short of literal perfection will be met with disappointment and strong reactions.

I want to thank BATC for really committing to improving their product and giving us the best possible Air Traffic experience. I’ve used the program for about a month now and I’ve been nothing but impressed. BATC keeps making smart decisions and I think this program has a really strong future. I’m excited about this new feature and Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the clarity on this! I’ve been flying for 15 years into all different types of airports( except class B) and the scenario I described only happened 1 time. Good to know it’s actually 3,000 feet- that’s actually pretty close together!

To answer your question regarding separation when the tower asks if you “have the traffic in sight” the answer is yes while you are airborne but no if the conflict will cause a loss of separation while on the runway. So for example, if you turn base and then final and are overtaking the aircraft in front of you, ATC will notify you of the overtake and they will make you go around if you are going to land too close behind another aircraft. I believe the reg is “5,000 feet” of runway is the minimum separation from 2 piston class aircraft but I’m not 100% sure. I know this is true because this happened to me in real life. A plane in front of me was taking forever to exit the runway and I was on short final and the controller said, “no need for a go around, still cleared to land as separation is more than 5,000 feet.” I doubt BATC gets that technical but I’d thought I’d help answer your question around the responsibility of the pilot while airborne to maintain visual separation from the traffic.

I really appreciate this thread as buying BATC to replace the loss of FSTL was my plan. I mostly fly airliners in the sim so it sounds like it might still be a viable option for me but it does sound like it might not really fully replace the FSTL traffic injector which put flights all over. It’s really a terrible shame FSTL won’t be able to continue to do what it has done for years. It’s a real loss to the hobby and it really seems like there is no real replacement for it. AIG is the closest but I’ve been looking into that and the workload around downloading flight plans and managing that product has me wanting to avoid it all together. I don’t have the time to keep up with everything needed to make that functional so I still do think BATC is my only real option here.

Turbulence in the sim is non existent let alone at all close to realistic. Until that’s done with any level of accuracy, it’s going to be difficult to make it important to divert around any weather.

Live weather makes the sim come alive but trying to simulate and replicate every possible cloud formation is next to impossible from a visual standpoint. The part of the weather system that still feels off is the wind. At times a small amount of wind particularly from the side on landing can push the plane so much. While I’ve never flown a 320 in real life, I’ve flown a 172 for over 600 real world hours. Crosswinds are rough in a 172 but, to me, cross winds in a 320 feel like they have the same impact while landing as they do in the 172 and that just does not seem correct. Maybe it is- but I do think the sim can improve on wind effect.

I agree- I think the worst looking scenery that I ever see is the Florida eastern coastline. I think it’s not helped by the total flat terrain but it always looks terrible.

For airline flying “A Pilots life” is great. It’s essentially the way I do 95% of my sim flying. The add on is easy to use, very stable and gives a sense of purpose to the flight. Obviously the only issue is you are restrained to the airline you chose actual route system so you do go to the same airports a lot but that does not bother me.
