  1. @BrianT, Did you ever get your Import Scripts to work? Was that option under Scripts grayed out, or were you able to select it? I'm having another senior moment and can't seem to get it un-greyed out. I had issues last Fall that I figured out, but it appears to be re-occurring, and I can't remember what I did to fix it it. ๐Ÿ™‚ I've tried it with and without FS2020 running, but still nothing. My ports seem to be correct too. Trying to test out one of Guenseli new SD profiles. Rick I went back and found one of my original post. The solution is easy enough as Oliver provided the answer. I just didn't recall the solution. This is caused by fading memory and mine seems to be fading much to fast. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I use a 32" 4K screen (Microboard) for my primary cockpit display. I also use a 27" 4K screen (LG) for other add-ons I use like; Little Navmap(LNM), FSMCA, AirManager and other popped-out instruments. I had to adjust the scale on on the LG to 175% to get the text size I needed. More recently, I even selected another font for clearer text - especially in LNM. I use the 32" scaled down to 2K when running FS2020 and Global Rendering set to HIGH-END. I also use with V-SYNC off. This seems to be a good balance for my two screen sizes and still get 40+FPS.
  4. Ah ha. Now I see the toolbar button. I should have looked closer. I was scouring the manual the other day, and couldn't find an example of those #s on the map. But I see it now. Thanks, Alex BTW, I've been using LNM for a while now for basic flight planning. There's so much to explore with it. Great piece of software.
  5. I accidentally tried an option and now I've got multiple shaded gray numbers that look like a subscript number on the right. How to turn off? Are these related to the map grid?
  6. Isn't it safe to say generally, that on the ground there are more objects - big and small - that require much more detail, hence more rendering. When you're high up in the air, you typically don't have a lot of different hard shapes and a lot of two colors; blue sky and white/gray clouds. Objects on earth are seen as little specks, hence less rendering required. Try flying over NYC and you'll likely see a drop in FPS - depending upon graphics card.
  7. Has anyone been able to see an 'upgrade' notification for this product on SimMarket yet? I understand there is a $5.99 fee for those who bought FSReastic Core. I thought I read it's free, but an earlier email from suggest otherwise.
  8. Thanks. Funny, I havenโ€™t ever seen it widely used. Gaming industry? In fact, Iโ€™ve never seen it used before. I donโ€™t get out much. ๐Ÿ™‚ I wanted to make sure it wasnโ€™t another aviation acronym that Iโ€™m unaware of that is relevant to the industry.
  9. I really don't have any preference. If it's nice and sunny, I'll fly just about anywhere to explore. Especially within a 100 mile radius of home. I'll take a night flight every once in awhile, to a location I'm familiar with, just to test my skills of landing at night. I even like to fly in storms. Mainly to experience the atmospheric conditions on the plane, especially with real gusty winds. The plane will definitely, jerk and get pushed around. I'm on east coast, but I like to create flight plans for areas I'm not so familiar with. For instance, I like to fly around the massive amount of islands in the upper northwest. From Seattle to Anchorage. Many times I'll select a float plane so I can land and visually cruise around on the water. There are many little airports (landing strips) as well. And there's just about any flavor of weather up there too.
  10. I can relate to your journey. Mine mirrors yours in many ways. I think my first edition was 98, can't recall. I played off and on throughout the late 90's. bought just about ever version up to FSX. I did play a lot, and really never took it to any level higher than just jumping in a plane, cruising around, and trying to land safely. My favorite add-on plane was the Douglas DC-3, R4D-6 by Bill RamBow and Roy Chafen. It came on the scene for FS2002. Not sure what's happening today with them, but I understand they had a falling out over some copyright issues, and then in early 2010s, Roy had a stroke and was unable to continue, and the legal affairs kept mounting. Not sure how it all turned out. For it's time, related to the level of PC graphics, the detail (done by Roy) was exquisite. It was the best. Of course today's graphics capabilities have reached unbelievable realism and so the journey continues. I picked up the premium edition in late 2020, and it's been a real ride. Most planes are phenomenal, and one of my first purchases was PMDG's DC-6. The level of realism is uncanny! There is so much to choose from today with the variety of planes, scenery add-ons, weather and seasonal add-ons, liveries, flight planning, charting, GPS and list goes. You will be surprised by the advancements. Welcome back. Rick
  11. I'm just glad you saw my thread and responded. So far everything looks good. I quickly tried landing the F18 on the carrier, but was waved off at the last minute. That challenge needs lot's of practice. ๐Ÿ™‚
  12. It seems like it takes FS2020 a little while to re-sync data from the cloud. I can see my progress/logged hours now.
  13. Instead of cursing Top Gun Maverick, My wife and I saw it in IMAX this afternoon. Well done. Cruise was great, and it as an enjoyable way to start the Summer. Recommended. ๐Ÿ™‚ Now let me go try and fly this F18.
  14. Ended up being #1. Fixed and working.
  15. I didn't know it was a Windows problem. Had I, I would have taken a different course of action. This was a clean install of just FS2020, not Windows. Clean install as MS defines it for FS2020. They differentiate between doing a repair/reset and a clean install. Clean install uninstalls the app along with all your settings, option, etc. The community folder is emptied. Had I known a little more of what it would nuke, I would have saved off my FPs. They're gone. I can create those, but I had about 50, LNM (LittleNav Map) plans scattered all over the US. Live and learn. All good now.
  16. Anyway to restore my logged flights hours? Saved config file somewhere?
  17. Ok irocx, if you weren't so far away I'd buy you a beer. Eureka! All the time I spent over the past few days to get this going, and it all came down to 2 obscure lines of code in a file that I certainly would have never checked. You saved the day! Now, I think I know the answer to this, but in reloading a lot of the scenery and extra stuff (from in-game), that was free with the Premium Edition, I did not install TG. So, it would be safe to load this and test, which I have not done yet. I've now got to reload/connect a lot of add-on packages I was using, one at a rime to make sure everything plays nice together. Only about 18 months worth of stuff to check. ๐Ÿ˜ž Not to mention going back in the app, and trying to reset all of my in-game options to what they were before all of this happened. But hey, this is one hurdle down. I'm glad I made a copy of my Community folder on my NAS, and an external SSD. Anyway, thanks for taking time out of your holiday, to help a fellow simmer. Side note... I use to travel to MN in the late 80s doing consulting. Nice place and pretty. As I recall the summer thunderstorms were wicked bad. ๐Ÿ™‚
  18. Thanks for that tip. Iโ€™ll check in the morning. The only maps addon I installed several days before TG, was MSFS2020 Map Enhancement. I know I ran the sim several times without issue, but certainly not enough to notice any visible enhancements in the maps up to that point. It was simply too new. And, no issues with the sim hanging either. Nonetheless, I hope your on to something. However, I would think that any hooks into the FS the MSFS2020 Map Enhancement did, would have been broken with a clean install. If not, then that addon changed something outside of the sim as well. That would be surprising and worrisome, unless the addon does more than enhance FS2020. ๐Ÿ™‚
  19. I just finished up a clean install. No hiccups or errors installing the app. It still doesn't run. The community folder was empty and still a no-go. I tried deleting the rolling cache file too. Still nothing, same symptom of hanging as the flight loads. Urgh. I don't doubt the problem is on my end. However, it still is only related to FS2020. All my other apps run just fine. So, I don't suspect common hardware, or general Win10 software issues. I just can't figure up what's left to try. Especially, after a fresh install. I've tried some of the hardware suggestions, short of replacing memory, or trying another graphics card. This one is perplexing. I'm stilling running Win10, as I suspect many here are as well. I've resisted going to 11, because I don't see any real benefit - as of yet. Maybe down the road. It's been a long day. Think I'll go get some sleep and tackle it tomorrow.
  20. I was aware of that and at one point late last week, I went to the either Content Mgr or Store(can't recall) and did download and install it. But in the end that did not work. My earlier reinstall today (about 3 hours), didn't fix anything either. Back to square one. I'm truly baffled by this. My hail mary is to do a 'clean' install now from the process built-in to the app. Nothing to loose here except more time. ๐Ÿ˜ž I used to be pretty sharp when it came to all things computers back in 80's- 00s. But [my] memory is slowing down, so I have to reply on my son who is in IT. But, he's not around anymore locally so I have to figure things out on my own! ๐Ÿ™‚
  21. After selecting a flight, I press the Fly button. The typical background appears and the progress bar starts across the screen loading the flight information. About 2/3 of the way across it stops and just hangs. I can predict it now. My fans throttle back and my in-game statistics for GPU Temp and GPU Usage freeze as well. At this point nothing is active in the game. I have to use the Task Manager to end the FS task. I did most of the things to troubleshoot like; unplug all unnecessary USB devices, reseated my graphics card, and even removed 3 other PCIe cards I was using. Still froze. Even if I don't select a flight and say, look at some of general options, after a couple of minutes, the game will freeze. Task Mgr to the rescue. It should be noted, up to the point when requested to perform the Top Gun update a few days ago, everything was working fine. No new devices or software. I'm now on my 2nd re-install of the game following Microsoft's published process to try and fix the issue. Progress is about at 56%.
  22. Yep AOB, I know exactly how you feel. FS is not only a single piece of software. I've probably added 50 or more add-ons that include; new planes, new paint variants, map and flight planning utilities, weather /season enhancement, control software, plane profiles, map enhancements and the list goes on. I even bought a Stream Deck last year, and all the related software profiles, icons that go with that product alone! Like you state, I keep tweaking to make sure I'm getting the most out of the software, and this happens. I'm not a happy camper at all. In fairness, not everything has to be totally re-installed, but you still have to go through the process of making sure they still all work as intended. And that simply takes time. And how can that been done if the program hangs?! So, it's no joy that a (mandatory) update comes along, and ka-boom! A lot of the work gone, or at least needs to be rechecked. At least I could quickly check my logged hours and they are there and correct. Don't know about all my planes though. Maybe you and I are the only two simers out there with issues? ๐Ÿ™‚
  23. Well, I finally did do that, but was still greeted to a frozen 'loading a flight' about 2/3rd of the way through. So for the 2nd time since I've owned FS2020, I re-installed. Everything went ok. Before I went to bed, I fired off 35 in-game updates. This morning, everything appeared to be loaded okay, but you really don't know until you can get into the game and start checking all your add-ons and planes. So I fired up the game again and after selecting a simple flight it started to load and then just stopped. Now, I know I'm not alone, because I read other posts, by other users elsewhere on the internet, and they mentioned the same thing happening. When you have a ton of sim sites you follow, it's very hard to keep track where you saw the posts (at least for me). I can't recall exactly, but around Thursday last, is when I first did the Top Gun update and after that it broke. Some FlightSim you tuber even mentioned the issue, but did say a fix was coming. If that fix ever happened, during loading when it checks for updates, it's possible it was very quickly done and transparent to the user. You wouldn't even have noticed it during the game loading process if you had walked away from your computer. But obviously, I still have something broken, and at the moment have no idea where to start looking. You can't simple roll-back an update like you could years ago with most well-written software. FS2020 has tentacles everywhere on your computer. Sigh.
