July 12, 200322 yr When I bought 737NG last weekend I had all sort of frame rate problems. I was using a P4 2.53 TI4600 Ultra with 512 RAM. After reading the comments in the forum about memory I decide to install another 512Meg. Know my system has 1Gig 333mhx DDR RAM. ALL THE PROBLEMS HAS GONE (expect for the know bugs) The frame rate is silky smooth (better than DF 737) you cannot believe the difference it makes. RAM is cheap at the moment so its worth the upgrade to fly such a fine plane.Ops Sys Windows XP ProfessionalAndrew.
July 12, 200322 yr Commercial Member Compared to other aircraft with similar gauges like the Meridian though (unless PMDG is doing something with their's that's completely different) the memory usuage is really high. I'm not gonna go buy an extra 512MB for my aging Athlon system when I'm gonna be upgrading to a brand new P4 rig before the end of the year...Ryan Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
July 12, 200322 yr Hi Andrew,I've got 1GB of Ram as well, and have no problems - but that's not the issue here. The issue is that somehow the software is using up memory unneccessarily, and that should be (and will be) addressed. It is simply a question of optimzing the software (which PMDG are doing), rather than just saying 'Increase your RAM and you'll be fine' - if every software developer were to take that attitude, my computer would come to a grinding halt quite soon, as my motherboard only supports 3GB of RAM.Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
July 12, 200322 yr Having to buy new hardware on a good PC to solve the problem is not the way to go!
July 12, 200322 yr Guys, this issue will go away real soon, trust me ;) [h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smith[/h5][h6]The Next Great one? July 12, 200322 yr Depends on the RAM type Andrew. Those of us with PC800 don't think it's so cheap :-) . BTW, I have essentially the same system and have no framerate issues at all with 512MB. Funny things these computers...DougNorthwood 2.2Ghz at 2.508GhzAbit TH7II-R512MB Samsung 40ns PC80064MB 3.6ns Gainward GF4 Ti420044.10's with WinXP Pro/DX9a Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. July 13, 200322 yr hi, It looks like my Vc/ 2d panel framerate problems are completely gone now that I upgraded to Windows 2000 pro :-) (from windows me). Windows 2000 seems to be using all my memory more efficiently.Andrew
