GeorgeI happen to know Robert personally and I can tell you that he is as avid a simmer as you if not more so. This is not his first purchase by far but I would suggest it is one that has caused him the most disappointment so far. He is rightly voicing an opinion in relation to the on again off again nature of the patch release and whilst it does not conform with the majority of the people who readily bash out their words of praise and acceptance of the situation it is nevertheless as valid as anyone elses. Remember Mr Randazzo did say he would be back later - maybe GOd has interuppted his thought process once again. The suggestion and tone in which you imply that he doesn't understand the intricacies of software development is both insulting and incorrect. It is far from the case and such blatant sanctimonious patronising attitudes have no place here.If as a 50 year old passion doesn't come easy for you may I suggest Viagra. Don't need it personally but have heard it takes your mind of simming - at least flight simming - for a while.I'm sure he will enjoy the 737 when he has the bits he needs.Pats on the back follow successful delivery - that is when they are due and I hope that in short time they will be earned and given.Andy

I would like to state how impressed I am, deeply impressed by the immersive support I am enveloped with as a PMDG customer. Your continual progrees project update and commitment/dedication to the product you released has certainly earned you within my mind the PLATINUM SEAL OF APPROVAL for the next PMDG project purchase.I know it has been trying for you and your team when many issues slipped through but the speed with which you process every problem and truthfully portray the challenges and difficulties while updating s constantly makes PMDG the model commercial add-on developer for all others to follow.Great job and I look forward to the patch.

Andy,As I hope you can see by my posts, there is nothing derogatory or insulting meant. I do not believe however, that providing support for a hard working team is somehow not acceptable to some folks. I too look forward to the patch. I'm sorry that you feel I am insulting, but, oh well:). As for you not needing Viagra. I'm proud for you, although I have found that usually those who boast are those with the problems:).It will be our little secret though Andy.George Stoddard

HiI don`t yet own the NG but I feel that taking the time to release a complete patch would be better than waiting on a follow on patch to correct things that could be corrected by waiting just a bit longer.Anyway I look forward to perhaps purchasing this possible fine product. Thanks from a future userKurt

Hey George,You kids aren't even close to old yet. Try one who is 69 +++++ and lives for Flt sims and golf.TomFormer Boeing Flight Test on the original 737's

Hey Tom,Bravo on the 69+++++! I hope I'm still around enjoying FS2020:)George StoddardThanks for calling me "kid" I like it:)

I just need a clarification...When you say this service pack is optional to the user, does that mean if I choose not to install it today, I don't get the patches that fix most of the major problems that had been identified by Lefteris' previous post till the release of Service Pack 2 in the future or does that mean later on (possibly next week) you will have worked out the problems with Service Pack 1 and thus release the official PMDG patch as Service Release 1.I only ask because I am slightly confused as to the sequence of events the are now occuring. Is this release a response to all the impatient calls for a patch NOW!!!! or is this the the actual Service Pack but PMDG is issuing it with the caveat that we install it at our own risk. Those who are less adventurous should wait for the Service Pack 2 in the future with guaranteed operational fixes.Frederick

I'm pretty sure everyone will want to install this patch - I highly doubt it's going to make the plane buggier! They're saying that there's still some further minor issues and optimizations/features that are being released later in SP2. SP1 is optional in that yeah it's a user's own risk thing. Like I said though, I can't imagine this not making the plane better.Ryan

GeorgeVery predictable but nonetheless incorrect assumption. Why on earth do you think I would need Viagra - not that you said that of course - just making a wild statement when you don't even know me. I guess the name has misled you into believing I am male. Au contraire George - happens all the time :-) Of course if our little secret was what I have just revealed - then I guess it is no longer a secret. So now you can see why I made the statement that I personally don't need Viagra.Anyway - enough on this - back to watching the entertainment until the next time I feel the urge to step in and tell someone off.Andy :(

Captains-I thought I'd give you a quick update on what we are planning for you with regards to the Service Update 1.During the day today we have been validating a number of items in the Service Update 1.In it's current state, the Service Update 1 file makes a few hundred small changes to the airplane- and a few larger changes as well. The end result is an airplane that is significantly more stable in both FS2002 and FS9 than the current release version.Memory usage is down dramatically, FPS is up significantly, stability is greatly enhanced, a Crash to Desktop problem has been cured, anomalous behavior of some systems related to a variable timing rollover in MSFS has been resolved, a violent over-reaction by the autopilot to certain inputs has been dampened and more than 100+ minor items that you may or may not have noticed have been updated. There are still some issues that we are attempting to resolve- but most of them are not nearly so invasive to your flying... Currently we are trying to determine why MSFS will pass garbage information through the AFDS when certain users switch from full screen to windowed mode during certain times of day or in certain phases of flight, for example. (Yet other users do not have this problem....)Additionally we are trying to identfy some sources of unexpected results from various situations you can put yourself into with the autopilot and VNAV, etc. FOr the most part, we are very comfortable with the fact that we have eliminated the instability and glitches that have caused some of you so much frustration. Yet we are looking at some significant changes that will be required to prevent FS9 from introducing anomalous behavior to the autopilot in certain circumstances. These things are going to take time- and a significant amount of work.In recognition of that- we have decided that we are going to issue this Service Update to you tonight because we are confident that most of you would prefer to have the airplane operating effectively while we continue our work to give you a perfectly operating airplane. We are making this issue under the caveat that installing it is OPTIONAL for the user- and in recognition of the fact that this is not a silver bullet to cure all ills 100% of the time! This airplane is an extremely complex operation- and it is conceivable that some of you may still run into a few problems along the way!The Service Update 1 will therefor be followed by a Service Update 2 at some point in the future. SU2 will include additional adjustments to further gains in memory usage and stability- while also improving those functions that we are still working on. Additionally- any new items that you all can help us to identify will be addressed in SU2. SU2 does not have a release date- as it is currently in the planning stages. Suffice it to say that SU2 will not be so eagerly awaited as it's functionalty improvements will be contextual rather than global.During the past few weeks, the customer base for our tiny little company has grown rather dramatically. All of us on the team have been truly amazed at just how interested you are in this product- and recognizing that this airplane stems for many thousands of man-hours of work, we greatly appreciate your patronage, your patience and your fraternity during the past few weeks. In regognition of how gracious the community has been to PMDG, we are planning to offer you each a discount on the 800/900 when it releases in the future. More information on that will come when we start talking about the release of the 800/900- but it is just one small way to say "Thank You!" from all of us to all of you!I will be back later this evening with release and download information.....
