Wouldnt it be cool if PMDG did a 747-400?!

GUYS GUYS GUYS. Why does one post say "please make the 330" then the next says "no please the 320". THEY ARE BASICALLY THE SAME PANEL!. Just a different model. I don't know about you but I fly my plane 99% of the time form the INSIDE. We had one guy asking for the 380. So what you want is the 340 panel with a 380 body? Basically that is what you are getting besides a few different weights to punch in your MCDU. The Buses have been done by PSS. Let it be. We have not seen a good 757 (sexiest airliner in the world BTW,IMHO). This plane is a work of art. Overpowered to the nines (well the -200 anyway). More power-to-weight ratio that any airliner (besides the obvious concorde but that is going to be no longer anyway). The 757 NEEDS to be done. The only downfall is the 767 PICV2 id going to be done in which I would be a hypocrit saying all this stuff about the buses when the 757 and 67 are basically the same panel anyway (excpet the 767-400 that is). Anyways instead of putting all that effort into an airbus which has been done by PSS and BEING done by AVIOGRASF (released in december), put some effort into a different plane that has not been done (eg. MD11, B717, B757). Anyone in agreement. I don't know why PMDG would do a 747 when PSS is going to be doing it again too. Better of trying the 777. Not to say PMDG couldn't compete with the PSS 747. I LOVE the PMDG 737. They keep putting out aircraft like that and I will buy every one of them. All I am saying is go after what the market wants and needs. Would an airbus 330 sell as good as the 777 if PMDG made one? Probably not. Why? only ONE 777 has ever been done (payware) and that is no longer for 2K4. If PMDG did an airbus they would be 1 of 3 companies that have it. Simple logic.

Cactus-Please sign your postings with your real name. It's a requirement in this forum.From what I read PSS is remaking both their 777 and 747-400.The A380 cockpit will be somewhat different from the A340. Just for the record, the natural progression would be a 777. What more could an airline ask for than NG for short to medium routes and a 777-300ELR for the long stuff. Whatever PMDG decide, frankly I'm prepared to support their choice, after all if they put the same effort into their new project that they have thus far demonstrated whichever aircraft it is, it will be worth investing in.The forthcoming technological improvements in user affordable hardware would make the newer versions absolutely stunning. Imagine what say ten years from now we could expect 128 or 256 processors with proper AI speech, photo quality textures and scenery, in fact the whole aviation experience ..... hehehehe we could give up real life and just live in vitual reality!

I have to say that the whole Boeing thing is getting to be a bit boring now. Sure their great, they really are BUT: We have seen every model done over the years. The problem is that a new version of FS comes out every two years, and so the developers come out with a 'latest' version. ie, PSS did the 747 and 777 for FS2000. Now there doing it again for FS2004. DF did a 737, now PMDG have done one for FS2004. The 767 was done for FS2000, and now, oh look: its back again!!! I know PMDG are not getting support from airbus yet.Quite a few people, in fact, from what I have seen, the majority of people, have suggested an MD11. Its Boeing, but its different. And its new. I know that the next project has been set, but please bear the MD11 in mind for the future. I would suggest, PMDG, that you sit down and think about what airplanes that you COULD make, then post a poll and let your customers decide. Your new to FS, and already you have had a huge impact, what ever you do, your going to do it well. Just don't get arrogant ;-) Richard

Cactus,hasn't PSS also announced to redo the 777, so you will get one ? If you are happy with PSS planes, that is.Can't help myself, but the word has spreaded around in several German fora and I see much more "oh no, not a 747 again" than enthusiasm.If I look in this years hot files here at AVSIM, I only see a 744 very deep down in the list. Almost reached by e.g. a soundset for the MD-11 downloaded in last months list. I keep voting for the MD-11. A pilots airplane. I know e.g. the Crews of Swiss very much regret the MD-11 will be replaced. Lufthansa Cargo will get 5 more MD-11 soon (replacing the 747), common sight in Frankfurt. Also lot of memories regarding Swissair.Just to repeat, if anyone could make a high fidelity MD-11, who else than PMDG ? I have no idea. I know, I have not much chance with my vote, but I keep trying :)Mike

Well, get the PIC767 and d/l a 757. Then change some air-file settings (or d/l an airfile for the 757) and there you go.The 757 and 767 are sooo identical in relation to panel, FMC, AFDS, displays...I would also like to have an MD11, but it seems as if the decission has already been made ?! Maybe an "official" person from PMDG could finally comment on the subject to stop all the rumors? (Although then, there will be the first posts with "Do you implement WXR and XYZ...")Regards,Stefan Bergert

My wishlist for PMDG ( I know that you probably made the decision for your next project ):1. 757 (not a 767 with mod air file, etc) 757 real stuff2. 777 instead of a 747 for Heavy, L routes. This plane is awesome,modern, Similarity with 737 PFD, ND etc.3. 717 who knows.. I like this new plane too4. Md-11 5. The FS world is very much a small market. Developers must produce something that a majority of users will buy to get a good return. Being a small market, I really don't think it can support two new payware 747's. PSS has already made the decision to redo the 744 and 777...fact. So I think that PMDG will not be making the 744 IMO. PSS has the market on the Airbus products as well with the A319 thru A340's (with the upcoming 319/320/321 patch). Everyone talks about the PIC 767 v2 like it is definite but I think that is more than a year or longer before we see that if ever. Now a few people are posting that they want an MD11. From a business standpoint, this is unwise. How many airlines still use this? Other than FEDEX, UPS, charter airline, WORLD Airways, I can think of none in North America other than the few Delta has left (which are due for retirement). There may be some oddball cargo carriers with one or two but that is it I think. In Europe, I can only think of two majors using it, Lufthansa Cargo and SWISS. Any other majors? So what does that leave that has not been done by any developer that is used by almost every major out there? Hmmmm...the only one I can think of is the 757. So what will PMDG do? Who knows but whatever it is, it's a long way off for sure. We still have to get through the 737-800/900/BBJ first.

Which major European Airline uses it ? A few at Iberia and at Finnair, some at British Airways and some British Carter Airlines. And then ?MD-11 ? Alitalia, Finnair, Swiss, Lufthansa Cargo, UPS, Fedex, KLM.Still not much, you are right. But follow up of famous DC-10, maybe you can better sell than 757 almost nobody (except the experts of course) knows. Germany is also big Addon market.If not, what then ? What do "common" people really know and see here ? 737, 747, some rare other stuff, but then Airbus all over. Mike

Just because you don't SEE them doesn't mean you shouldn't fly them on FS. I fly out of Calgary, AB, Canada and I BARELY see any 757's here. But would i fly them on FS? You bet. be the first plane I would want to see done. MD11? I think I have only seen one or two in my life. would I fly it on FS? you bet. It is like the old story that ppl will only fly it if their "favorite" airline has one. Same as ppl being scared to fly to new locations on VATSIM because it isn't in their own country. Explore new things. Fly new planes and fly to new locationsJack

Crap. Just out of curiosity, why was the 744 decided if you don't mind me asking? (not to say I wouldn't buy it because I probably will)
