June 3, 200719 yr Commercial Member Mountie-FIRST of all, sign with your real name. If not, your posts will be deleted without further warning. Secondly, this issue happens to a tiny percentage of customers, who come here to voice their concern and issue. You don't see others complain, because theirs works properly. That said, GoFlight are still working on this matter. We will be notified (like everyone else) when things are corrected. June 5, 200719 yr All,I purchased a GoFlight MCP Pro for which I bought and downloaded a licence key. Unfortunately, the unit subsequently failed and was replaced (free of charge) by Goflight.Of course, now I am unable to use the new unit as the licence key generator refers back to the original units serial number when I first bought it.Are PMDG able to help? Do I have to spend more money on another licence?RegardsRick Buresh
June 5, 200719 yr Commercial Member Rick-have you tried contacting our support email with details on this matter? Lefteris Kalamaras - Founder www.flightsimlabs.com
June 23, 200718 yr the go-flight throttle quad flap lever does not work on the 747 due to fs unrealistic flap movement, any chance of driver or something like the one for the go flight mcp pro?jose
June 25, 200718 yr Does anyone know if the PMDG-GoFlight MCP interface issues have been solved? Seemed like there was a big burst of concern and attention, then it all just faded to black.I too am thinking about purchasing the MCP Pro, but don't want to do so if there are major unresolved PMDG issues--since PMDG aircraft are the only things that I fly these days. Thanks in advance.Larry Larry Johnson
June 25, 200718 yr It's still in motion as far as I am concerned. GoFlight asked me to return my MCP PRO because there was no display of firmware at all. I am now expecting an updated MCP PRO back some time next week and will report the results on this thread as soon as I can.I have never thought it was a PMDG programming issue of whatever -- I figured it was likely a GoFlight issue and possibly connected to USB power. I still think it's possible but their firmware is obviously an issue as well.Jonathan Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
June 26, 200718 yr Thanks, Jonathan, for the update. I'll be interested to know how your MCP Pro operates when you get it back.Regards,Larry Larry Johnson
June 26, 200718 yr Lefteris,Yes I did. However, I received no response, hence my post here. I will re-send the relevant information to the support email.RegardsRick

June 26, 200718 yr Commercial Member Rick-there should at least be an automated response to your email to support. If you don't receive one, there's one of two things happening:a) Your spam settings eat up our response:( We never got the email. If that's the case, try sending from an alternate address (such as hotmail or yahoo). June 30, 200718 yr OK, I have received my replacement MCP PRO from GoFlight and revalidated the license key and reconnected it to the 747-400 in FS2004 (thanks very much to PMDG for timely assistance in making this happen.)My initial and yet-to-be totally-confirmed observations of the working of the PRO are as follows:All of the MCP functions work--as they did in fact previously--however, there is definite improvement in the stability of all displayed digits on the MCP PRO. There is no shaking or blanking of any digits in the LED boxes of the MCP as occurred previously, and when I turn the HDG or SPD or ALT knobs, there is no strange behavior of the display lighting anywhere on the PRO.So far, all knobs and lights work seem to be working as they should. There is still however some slight delay or lag in HDG, SPD, and ALT inasmuch as if I turn the relevant MCP knobs quickly, there is sometimes a lag or even what I might term a "mini-freeze" of the displayed digits as the device seems to catch up with the numbers I have dialed in using the PRO's knobs. However, they do not remain frozen in place as they did with the previous MCP PRO.I have tried to see if I can make the firmware of this replacement unit appear but so far I have not been able to make it appear on the MCP by pressing N1 and VS together which is I believe the procedure to make this happen (somebody correct me if I am mistaken here, thanks). In testing with default FS2004 aircraft, the unit works normally but again there seems to be that same occasional lag in SPD, HDG, and ALT when turning the knobs of the MCP fast. I need to test more extensively but as I say, these are my initial findings.Any comments or suggestions welcome. July 1, 200718 yr Hi Jonathan. You should be abel to see the firmware version right when the unit connects, as when you connect the usb cabel or when it comes to life first time. Give it a try : disconnect the usb cabel and then reconnect it again..I think that should work. (left course window)Bebob.
July 1, 200718 yr Bebob:You are a bloody genius! It worked!! Finally ! I have firmware version A18.When I switched the PC on and all of my myriad GoFlight units "came alive", the MCP PRO flashed a zillion orange digits up briefly including "A18" in the left COURSE window of the MCP.So THAT's how it's done, eh?Well, good to know I do indeed have the latest firmware. Why did nobody else ever say this? Thanks a lot. I am very pleased with this info.Jonathan Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
July 1, 200718 yr Further testing this evening indicates a similar difference between the PMDG 744 and the default FS2004 aircraft: the MCP PRO works more reliably and more responsively with default FS2004 aircraft and any aircraft that use the default FS2004 autopilot. I have tested the Just Flight A340-600 and found that I was able to rotate all of the MCP knobs at a realistic rate and suffer almost no issues relating to lagging of displayed LCD data. There was a brief delay in changing speed and then heading on one occasion but that was about it.However, in using the PRO with the PMDG 744, the rotation of the MCP knobs at the same rate as I used for the A340-600 resulted in some "skipping" in that if I rotated the knob fast, the MCP PRO did not seem to pick up the data input. Also, it is during this kind of usage that the risk of lagging or freezing seems to increase. I don't expect anything can be done about this and I shall probably have to just take care that I rotate the knobs a little more slowly. Each "click" of the MCP PRO knob changes speed by 1 knot or HDG by 1 degree and ALT by 100 foot increments/decrements. All that said, I can turn the MCP knobs at a rather faster rate than with the unit I first had and returned to GoFlight and find that the LCD displays change at a somewhat faster rate in response. But care is still required not to "overdo" things when using the PRO with the Queen in this manner.Other than that, the PRO appears to work without issues when flying in CMD mode and in LNAV and VNAV. I can switch from LNAV to HDG SEL mode and from VNAV to SPD/VS mode, and hit the SPD button to manage speed separately if I wish, and then return to LNAV and VNAV modes without any difficulty or trouble. However, I have yet to do an ultra long haul flight with the PRO on all the time.In sum, then, things work "as advertised" with this very intersting piece of hardware, but subject to the above observations and self-imposed cautionary procedures.I have not tested this PRO with the Level D 767 yet.I'll post any further observations tomorrow if I can test further.Jonathan Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
