May 17, 200719 yr the issue with the flicker and dissappearing of the display for a while is happening in the default 737 as well!I just tried it using the default 737.Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
May 17, 200719 yr Commercial Member Manny-would you please contact GoFlight about this issue, alert them to the fact that it's common across other products and share back your discussion on the topic? Thanks, Lefteris Kalamaras - Founder www.flightsimlabs.com
May 17, 200719 yr Dear Lefteris.Well i rest my case then ...wouldnt provoke you to shut the tread down.Let me take it from the positive side then...(if there are any).Ohh yes PMDG makes great planes and that is fantastic, but i all ready said that 3 months ago ( i have them all). And another thing , the fact that Lefteris is the only man/"compagny" guy that will speak to us i public, really shows what a great team PMDG is...so dont get me wrong Lefteris. It just seems to me,that PMDG is sorry they even went into this frenzy to start with, trying to please there customers who bought the MCP fom GoFlight inc.wich i feel PMDG allways does to theire customers....im i wrong?Regarding GF....well thanks for making a second grade hardware that is affordabel, but im not gonna sail on that boath again.I can see why they dont comment public in there forum about hardware and software issues....(really smart) That will offcource sell a couple more modules...like a EFIS that abselutly didnt worked for anything when they sold it ca.7 months ago.So Lefteris im sorry if you took it personal, because YOU are a really serius person i know...and have seen many times. But welcome to our and GF's world.OK regarding BEBOB, then thats my middel name, i come out of a very Jazzy family. Hope its ok to use a middel name in this forum. I see no disrespect in that. But the name "Lefteris" seems just as weird to me where im comming from if thats ok with you.BEBOB.To be or not to bob.
May 18, 200719 yr I received my MCP Pro this evening and set it up. I am testing just with default FS9 a/c and FS9 A/P compatible add-ons such as Just Flight's A340-500/600 Bus and the VC-10 by David Chester. So far, so good. There IS flickering of the HDG digits and momentary blanking out of them when I turn the HDG rotary button on the PRO and there is a faint suggestion of flickering of the last digit of the ALT window when the HDG digits flicker or blank out. There is NO flickering when I click the MCP dials in the sim using my mouse on the MCP display in the VC. It's not a big deal (I hope!) and so far, the MCP works, N1 works, and the basic MCP stuff works. The PRO and the VC also work normally in conjunction with my CH Yoke where I've mapped TO/GA power, and AP on-and-off to the two red buttons.I am doing one step at a time. After testing the default FS9 aircraft and compatible FS9 AP add-on a/c, I shall test the Level D 767 since that is programmed into the MCP Pro.If it all works, I shall buy the PMDG interface and test the 747-400 and 737 NG. But that might not be for a bit.Jonathan Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
May 19, 200719 yr Author Commercial Member Chris-You raise a valid point.Keep in mind that all PMDG products use a completely custom autopilot model that eschews the default autopilot processes inherent to FS. This means that we require a different type of interface process- and one that Lefteris spent many many months developing.During this process- I lost count of the number of times that Lefteris was able to identify specific problems in the firmware. When presenting these problems to GoFlight- we are traditionally greeted with silence, or answers that attempt to sweep the problem under the rug..."It's a PMDG problem" coming from GoFlight sounds like the same general repsonse we get from them when attempting to help them improve the base quality of their product by pointing out problems.I'm sorry that you are caught in the middle- but with their general unwillingness to do their part to resolve the problem- we're stuck right in the middle with you. May 19, 200719 yr Commercial Member Dear Chris-I'd be the first to accept responsibility and continue debugging, had this problem only been appearing on our aircraft. There are multiple reports, however, that the issue surfaces with the default 737 as well as other 3rd party addon products (Wilco 737).The symptoms are identical with these products, so we consider this a malfunction of the hardware unit and/or its firmware.Also- this is the FIRST time that GF points the finger at PMDG's software driver for this problem. In fact, if it was John Krieg who responded to you, they always are quick to suggest that the customer is at fault for not RMAing their unit back to GoFlight for repair.I feel very frustrated with the situation, especially since we get different answers from GoFlight than you, apparently. In fact, it's been over a month that I have received NO direct answers from them on the matter anymore.Let them know about this, and be as vocal as you can. This is a FIRMWARE issue.Edit: Their forum resides athttp://www.goflightinc.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi Lefteris Kalamaras - Founder www.flightsimlabs.com
May 19, 200719 yr Hello dear guys...me i have tested MCPPro with FS9, FSX, never a problem, i have also tested with Wilco product ERJ and 737, sometime before i have a flickring problem and freeze , and now i have make a Y cable with tow power from USB, and since that modification, no more problem, flickring etc... but i have never tested with pmdg because , i dont went to pay that if is not good after... did you have a beta version for 3 or 5 days....and your interface work with your futur developement or not ..like NGX and MD11... thanks you
May 20, 200719 yr I am using the MCP Pro with the PMDG 737 (usually the 600). Using the PMDG interface. Also using the GoFlight EFIS, GF166A, RP48, T8 and TQ6. All this works perfectly with none of the issues reported on this forum, with one exception. On the MCP Pro, the right hand course knob is inoperative and the indicator flashes "- - -". Same result with other PMDG 737 series.Currently I have 2 USB hubs connected in series (i.e. hub one connects to hub two, which connects to the PC, and MCP PRo is connected to hub two). The right hand course knob/indicator does work with default aircraft. The MCP Pro was purchased within the last month, so it likely has latest firmware.Any thoughts on what might be causing the problem with the right hand course know/indicator (or perhaps this is normal, in that this display is not visible and may not be modelled in PMDG 737)?Paul
May 20, 200719 yr Commercial Member Paul-that's correct - the right hand course knob is INOP in the 737NG series, due to some limitations in the programming of the NG itself.I am curious though- what is the operation of the right-hand course knob in default aircraft? What does it do? Lefteris Kalamaras - Founder www.flightsimlabs.com
May 20, 200719 yr Thanks for your response. I must have been mistaken re the right hand course knob/indicator operating with default aircraft. I can't seem to recreate that condition.Paul
May 21, 200719 yr Lefteris,Will do. I tried calling them already on Thu and Fri and I couldn't get to anyone.. Just V-mail. Its on my to do. Now since Jonathan has also confirmed that he seems to have the identical issue, its not manufactuing defenct. Its in the hardware/ROM it looks like. But I am not getting the freezes and what not. This could be due to the fact that Go flight did improve on their stuff and my unit is a recent one. So for those folks who are facing freeze and what not, they may want to call up goflight to get their h/w updated.Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter

May 21, 200719 yr Yeah, what on earth is it?!Jonathan Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
May 22, 200719 yr Hey, Manny:I just installed the PMDG MCP Pro Interface. It works flawlessly. I am speechless with joy at how the MCP works with the Queen. I never thought the push button rotaries would actually work like in the real 747-400. I've tested about 2/3 of the modes and everything works well. There's a couple of issues such as briefly blanking LED window in HDG and the rotaries cannot be spun quick lest they freeze for some moments. Need a deliberate touch and a paced twirl. But they are functional. I have the same issue in the Level-D and FS2004 a/c with the default A/P.This takes simming to a whole new level especially with 5-foot wide LCD screens and the GoFlight pedestal. I just can't see it getting any better than this unless I move in a 6 foot high, 6 axis hydraulic jack (maybe I will!). This is pretty brilliant work by PMDG and GoFlight. How are you getting on?Jonathan Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
May 22, 200719 yr Yeah...It is a lot of fun. Isn't it? Apart from these very minor glitches, its awesome to fly the PMDG 747 with the go flight MCP Pro. I also have a 19" ELO Touch screen monitor I use for the FMC. :)Except for the overhead panel I use the mouse (which I cam display on the touch screen too..but I have to display and then move it over every time..so I don't bother. Don't know how I can set it up such that it would always appear on my second monitor), I can fly the PMDG with minimal mouse.I love it. MannyPS: You need to get the EFIS too.
