I've been seeing a lot of questions lately about the future of PIC, so I thought I'd give you an update. First of all there hasn't been any news because there hasn't been anything new to say.We plan to do something based on the existing PIC. We already have a lot of work done on the flight dynamics, programming the FMC features that didn't make it into PIC, and other new features that will make the future PIC more compatible with other software and hardware. There are other things as well, both completed and planned, which I won't comment on.The current status of the project is this: Although a lot of work has been done, very little has been done recently. Quite honestly I find my interest in FS continuing to diminish as time goes on. I only rarely visit the forums now. I never fly. I have not been motivated to do any coding for quite a few months. We want this to be a "complete" package, yet we do not have anyone to do the visual model, virtual cockpit, or sounds. While I think we all (Laurent, Pedro and I) want to see a finished PICv2, even if we all started working in earnest now it would certainly not be seen until the fall at the earliest. It is possible that it will never be seen, but I hope that isn't the case.So you see there really are no firm answers to give you. As some have recently suggested, enjoy PIC, enjoy the other great addons that are available now, and try not to dwell too much on things that are yet to come.I, for one, am looking forward to a nice Caribbean cruise with my wife, on the Navigator of the Seas on May24th.I want to thank all of you who have given us so much support over the past couple of years. Please believe me when I say that your kind words and ecouragement REALLY have meant a lot to all of us. If for no other reason, I would really like to finish PICv2 for you guys.Regards,Wade Chafe

Thanks v much Wade. Not the answer I, and perhaps most people wanted to hear but probably the one I was most expecting. One thing though, the feel I get from this post is that something will be produced but not for a while, nothing is a certainty though, which is quite different from what was said by some individuals in 'Next project' thread underneath. Let's hope for something this year!

This is the thing everyone must realize, Wade and the rest of the few guys are really not a "commercial company". I don't think you can compare these guys with say PSS or PMDG who work at this all the time. These guys remind me of a bunch of guys who once or twice a month get together at someones garage to continue building that dream hot-rod that never seems to get done. It's just that these guys are doing the same thing only with computers.

The PMDG crew isn't full-time either. Rob himself is a commercial pilot, and the rest probably have other jobs.

Thank so very much Wade, and please forgive me for being such an a@@. Your aircraft has had a very great impact on my life. I really love the damn thing! I wish you a very happy trip and hope that one day you will feel the need to fly with your children here. If version 2 never comes about, I still have the greatest ever made to enjoy.......[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Wade,Thanks for letting us all know what's going on. I think I speak for all of us hardcore PIC drivers by saying that I do hope you continue with a new v2 PIC. The fact that years after its release and through 2 (soon to be 3) FS versions the original is still the airliner of choice for many of us and still the undisputed benchmark for systems integration and flight dynamics speaks volumes about your talents as a design team. If there's anything we as a community could do to help ensure the new product sees the light of day, please let us know. I for one would be willing to preorder it, paid in full, this second. If the visual model/VC are really a huge issue, I know there's quite a few very talented 3D modelers who would jump at the chance to work on this project. As another idea, maybe you guys could even team up with someone like the guys at Flight1 or Dreamfleet for the visual stuff, they've certainly done that to great effect with the RealityXP/Flight1 combo on the Meridian package.Anyhow, enjoy your cruise!Ryan

Wade,A cruise? You mean a large thing in the water with no wings? Are you sure? :(Anyhow, enjoy your cruise. And PIC V2? Well, I'guess we'll just have to wait and see. In the mean time there's still a lot to learn with the current version.Kind regards,Stephan Haashttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...or=SVA1&a=a.jpg

Hi Wade, thanks for your clarifying post! The PIC767 is still my absolute favorite aircraft and so the thought of a v2PIC is very promising. I understand, to develope such a product is extremely work intensive. So, I wish you a really nice trip on this "big thing without wings" and I surely will wait patiently for the things which may come in the future. Once again, thanks for a fantastic work and good support the whole time!

Wade (+rest of the team),Firstly: I apologize for being a jerk and requesting information all the time. You have to understand, that we all do that just because of one single thing: we all love PIC767, and would like to see a new improved version of it. Nothing more, nothing less. Also, I'd like to emphasize a couple of things here.Remember that you have created a simulated aircraft that is still being used as the number one plane by many many simmers, mostly ones who appreciate the detail you guys have put into the plane. It is obvious that you guys are not the most commercial group in the FS scene, and that is also perfectly alright. I guess most of your customers aren't regular FS simmers either. So it's a two way deal. You do it for passion (which I hope you will get back soon), and we fly it because of the same thing. We the users have been spoilt away by PIC767. The others so far just have never been even close, and THAT is a hard fact! Now, keeping that in mind, you will have NO trouble in finding capable people to do the sounds and/or the visual model. Have you consulted POSKY for example ? I know they're not payware, but their passion for the work show in their models. The future of PIC767v2 is in your hands, in the team's hands. The rest will follow, no doubt. The time I myself have used to promote PIC767 in Finland for example will pay back sometime. Not to me, but to you the developers who use your time to create an illusion of airline flying. That's what we're all after here in the end. And I don't mind using my time to promote PIC767. It's the ONLY aircraft that I use anymore. Soon I will try a full motion sim, and give a "simmers POV" about PIC767 compared to the almost real thing :). I sincerely hope that you will find the time, energy and the people to complete PIC767v2, and once more raise the bar to a new level. You have done it once (a couple of years ago LOL!), and you most certainly can do it again!!!Best regardsTeroedit: oh btw, if you ever need a PIC beta tester who will take it seriously, I'm at your service anytime.
