Some good news from Ariane

Featured Replies

Randy, I have both and the PMDG and the Ariane 737NG and both are very good aircraft. The Ariane is all VC and the PMDG has both 2D and VC and I like flying both, the only thing is that PMDG has a forum and Ariane does not but when you have a problem with Ariane it might take a few days but you get a answer.I think unless you own the Ariane 737 I would not bash it,I know what went on in the past but that was a few years ago and times are different.I asked Tom at the Avsim conference about what went on and he gave me the straight scoop. I don't know about the rest of you all but it would be nice if Ariane would stop trying to go head to head with PMDG and just release the BBJ. That's the only way I'd buy from them at this point and that's only if they've included the VC/Cabin combo. PMDG has done well enough all ready on the 737NG front... :-roll

That does look stunning. I have their -900 NG and the updated (version 1.1) VC is simply sensational. For atmosphere, it really can't be beat. The night lighting inside the cockpit is amazing. Having just flown the real 737 sim at UNITED Airlines, I can say that Ariane's -900 NG is strikingly realistic.I do wish folks here would give Ariane more of a chance (and I am familiar with some of the history!). They have equally dedicated and capable engineers as anybody else. I've had a lot of contact with Ariane in the past 15 months and know that they have tried extremely hard to develop first-class product that works well and that fulfils and satisfies the aspirations of many "professional-type" simmers, i.e., people like us. I thank Ariane for their unstinting efforts and wish them well. If they do well, I think we'll see even greater product from them in due course. JS

On the area I believe matters, namely juding an aircraft simulation on it's REPLICATION of the real world aircraft. Lesson one: When you perform an autoland and turn on APP in CMD SINGLE CH appears on the PFD. If you ARM the second A/P prior to 900RA the single ch will remain but the MCP CMD B will be lit, if you try to arm the second A/P below 900 RA it is locked out. After passing 1500RA the AFDS performs an ILS confidence check and the PFD flashes yellow and then engages the second A/P. Sounds complex yet? At 400 RA the AFDS applies BIAS TRIM for the landing. AT TD the A/T switches off @ 2 seconds but the A/P remains ON. Now this little trivia is just to show the DEPTH of the PMDG in ONE area. I did not even mention the real ways to leave the APP mode all of which the PMDG replicates 100%. Can we really compare in SYSTEMS? Light years comes to my mind. It is mind boggling how not one person mentions all these items. PMDG is jumped on for a little light not being on at a certain point or how the controls move with Hydros off yet I am under the impression that most hard core NG drivers have not spent the money to purchace this bird otherwise there would be more posters bringing up this stuff even in a nice way.If you perfer looks alone and feel the Ariane is better then by all means go for it but don't deny a different opinion justy because it does not praise..Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. Hi Jennifer,Everybody knows girls aren't supposed to do this kind of stuff - what are we doing in a place like this? :(

Stefan,'Jule'(pronounced jewel) is the furry little troublemaker with the big brown eyes to my immediate left in the photo. And now you know the rest of the story.........good day. :)

Well Major Dopke:I'll agree that you are somewhat older than dirt, but I'm not buying that harmless crap! :-lolFor Gods sake behave yourself man! But a little more ON topic, yes, the Ariane offering isn't bad at all. Ariane has some things PMDG doesn't have and vice versa. An arguement can be made for both (perjudice aside). If price is noobject, BOTH make a nice addition to any serious simmers collection.CYA!Mike T.Terrorist hunter, perveyor of danger, and all around darned nice guy!

Sorry to disappoint you Randy ...I'm neither a sponsor or developer as a matter of fact I am nothing of Ariane. And I'm saying this now for the last time to you: We all know that the Ariane 900 has some things that they need to be sort out, GIVE THEM TIME ...... and that is my whole point on the Ariane issue!I have never brought PMDG into the conversation when I had to say something about Ariane, I just can not understand who makes the rules here to what is acceptable for us to buy and who is the jerk in the drinking water. Let it be - for goodness sake!If you doubt my bona fides, you are more then welcome to give me a ring in Cape Town. Send me a PM and I'll forward you my phone number.TralalaaT

Nobody is denying anything. We all know PMDG product is superb. I have the NG models by PMDG too. But it's not the only NG product in the world and various other folk have other preferences or opinions. I've just been struck by the fact that when anybody posts anything about Ariane at all on AVSIM, including requests for assistance or views or opinions about some aspect of an Ariane product, invariably there is heat and a flame. It's impossible for anybody to post anything without being told they've bought a load of rubbish from a bunch of crooks. It's a shame; and it's unprofessional too. Some folks here behave like small kids, ranting and raving against Ariane. It is unseemly. That's all (!)JS

<....Many other developers/distributors should learn from Arianes outstanding addon quality, support and assistance!>Staffan, you've GOT to be kidding !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Toni.

I'm happy with the PMDG 737. I don't think anything will top that. We'll see....

"I very well know the Ariane story,...but why on earth should I spread a bad reputation...for something which happened long ago. And for something which did not affect me personally.?? Put aside their previous unusual business behaviour".Hmm, so lets invite Saddam for tea ? After all what ever he did, did not affect me. While were at it, lets forget about history in general, again, after all I didnt see it, was not directly involved ect ect. So to all the people affected by as you rightly say "unusual business behaviour", what do you say to them ? Damm right you should not forget.
