Problem with 8800 GTX and FS2004

Featured Replies

Same issue here.FSAA doesn't seem to work with FS9 and my 8800GTX (Evga). This is somewhat ridiculous. I'm certainly not going back to my 7800GTX OC just to get FSAA in FS9.All my drivers are updated and my machine runs flawlessly with all other games/aps.*EDIT* Uninstalled my drivers (thought I had the latest ones, then I noticed a new set came out on 4/05/2007, doh!). Installed those and now everything is fixed. FSAA is working great and performance is fantastic. :)

Congrats Shane, good to see you've got it sorted. Sounds like you now have the 97.94, right? Same as I have, but they give me the worst graphics I've ever seen. Something wrong somewhere, but blowed if I can find it, yet.Russell.

Hi,I have the similar problem. This driver was recommended me by nvividia, but after installation I have experienced worse performance, problem with AA/AF remained the same and my CH-products (throttle, yoke and pedal) stopped work in mapped mode (which I use). So I came back to older driver - the graphic the same (terrible), but performance and CH-products are O.K. I have tried to install FSX to my computer but results are very similar. Performance is very, very good, but AA/AF problem is the same. And this is the game from Autumn 2006 !!!And one my little personal experience - the problem with AA/AF is pronounced with addon sceneries in comaprison to default sceneries, especially on airports (runwaÿs, buildings and taxiways). I hope we will find solution or any new driver will help us !!!RegardsJiri

Hey Jiri, I've just got mine sorted. Due to advice I was given I've always adjusted the settings in Nvidia control panel/programme settings/ fs2004. This morning I reinstalled the Nvidia 97.94 drivers. NO CHANGE. I then set it up using the GLOBAL settings, and that was it. Clear sharp image, no wavy lines or shimmering. AA/AF now definitely working. I hope it's something as simple for you.Cheers,Russell.

Hey bud l have had the same problem... it was ok last night but now l`m having the same problem as you... l`ve changed the settings for AA but it wont show up in flightsim... maybe go back to old drivers.

I only just got my 8800GTX last week and I have FS9 running without a hitch. My Nvidia setting are all default and my FS settings are all maxed out except for mipmap. its at 4. I'm getting 70FPS and 50+ with add-ons such as LVL-D 767 etc. Sorry but I dont know what brand 8800 GTX I have as its just green and says Nvidia on it. Looks identical to this card http://www.tech2.com/media/images/img_3061...gtx_450x360.jpgI also remember reading that the very first 8800GTX cards released had a defect and had been recalled. Is it possible you got one of these cards?

I have the same problem with a 8800GTS(EVGA) AA just will not work in FS9. Funny thing is, it works fine in FSX & other 3d games.Using new 158.22_forceware drivers.

Hello!I was experiencing similar problems with several Nvidia drivers on my 8800GTX. I've tried out a tool called nHancer, which is a new GUI to work on top on nVidia's control panel.I've created a new profile for FS9 there and everything works fine now! The tool also gives you the possibility to config several other graphic options not available in nVidia's standard control panel. You can try this tool here:http://www.nhancer.com/CheersPedro

Pedro; What were you able to set with the utility that you couldn't set in the control panel?CheersBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VSantiago de Chile

Bob, nHancer unblocks usage of several FSAA and AF modes that are not available through Nvidia's control panel. Some of these features have been implemented in the latest batch of drivers 158.18, but others aren't.For example, you can combine FSAA modes (multisampling and supersampling at the same time at different leves up to 16xS)The tool explains the settings you are choosing, offering a more straight-forward approach to the rather "cold feel" you get from nVidia's panel.I found this tool while trying to sort out the vSync problem in Vista (for my other relationship-killer : PES6!), it didn't solve that particular problem, but I was able to solve the game profile issues i was experiencing..Pedro

Hi Guys & Girls,I came here to find a solution to my problem, seems like everybody here are in the same boat ( including myself of course! )I'm using A Sparkle GTS640.How disappointed I was when I ran FS9 /FSX the first time. !( Core2 Duo / 2GB / RAID etc etc )I was expecting a performance miracle - none of that.Anyway, after months of tweaking & tweaking I got rid of the "edges".I also experienced the problem that any changes to the settings had absolutely no effect. http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=14456&page=There is my problem.I've changed my motherboard 3 times to find the one I like. But have stuck with the same cards. But I have 2 8600 GTS OC cards that are SLI. With SLI off or on with any settings or most, have not tried them all yet. But I have limited the problem. The problem I am having is anytime a window is open in the simulator such as right clicking on the screen, having squawkbox open, having FSINN open or having anytype of window open in the sim it takes my anti-aliasing off. I am running the sim in Full Screen mode. Everything looks great then say I will start up Squawkbox and it leaves the SB window open in my sim. My graphics go to crap. But the minute I turn it off and the window closes my graphics go back to normal. I am using the latest drivers but have tried about 10 drivers so far.

Just ran across this thread when trying to research a fix for my 8800 GTS ant aliasing in FS9. Seem I'm not alone! What I have found is that the ant aliasing problem seems to only occur when certain applications are running in the background. In my case FSHotSeat seems to do the trick. Visually everything seems fine until I launch FSHS, then I get a massive image degradation due to missing AA and AF.Hope someone can find a solution soon.

Glad I came across this thread...I too am having some issues with jaggies. Just installed an 8600GT with the 158.22 drivers from nVidia. My old 6600GT was sooo much better with appearance, just lacking in the FPS. I'm running a P4 3.2GHZ w/ 1GB Dual Channel RAM. I noticed when I set the nVidia control panel to allow AA and AF run from the program and checked the AA box in FS2004, 95% of the jaggies disappeared. Still not satisfied with what this card is able to handle, though. I did, however, notice I had the same situation with my 6600GT running the 95.XX drivers...jaggies like crazy! I switched back to the 93.71 drivers. Soooo...I'm assuming this is a driver issue and hope nVidia can fix it. -Mike
