January 13, 200422 yr Author Commercial Member Hi,Minimum wx defaults for FSUIPC. AS2004 will control all FSUIPC options appropriately once you are at minimum wx defaults.TAF processing on or off? Which would you like? If you're not familiar with how TAF processing and associated dynamics work, I recommend this OFF... Take a look through the manual on this topic, and let me know if you have any specific questions about it...Hope that helps!Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies

January 13, 200422 yr >Hi Michael,>>"The only negative - when climbing out through those big ugly>grey clouds - once I was on top of the overcast, all the>clouds went away! :-( ">>Can you confirm you saw the actual clouds disappear, or was it>the visibility ceiling that you were climbing through?>>>Damian Clark>HiFi Simulation Software>Developer of ActiveSky>http://www.hifisim.com>http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpgI'm pretty certain it was the clouds. I was "in the soup" and could not see the ground nor blue sky above. When I busted out on top of the overcast (it was a solid overcast when on the ground and snowing) it was a beautiful blue sky above - and a lot of holes below - I could see the ground. Here is the KBOS METAR on departure:KBOS 122345Z 29007KT 4SM -SN BKN022 OVC038 00/M03 A2989 RMK AO2 SNB15 P0000-michael
January 13, 200422 yr Completed the KBOS-KORD flight and things are really smoothing out. There were a few jumps in wind direction/velocity during the descent from cruise but nothing as severe as prior to MR1. The cloud/visibility transitions throughout the entire flight were nice and gradual. Good job!The only thing that still confuses me is how the old concept of destination weather force works in AS2. During my descent/vectoring within 30 miles of KORD and below 7000 the weather went from CLR 8 sm to <5 miles/haze and back to CLR. KORD was reporting CLR 8 sm and stations around it reported <5 miles. Once on about a 7 mile final the weather remained stable. Also - I just switched to AS2 this weekend and I'm not getting the winds aloft data in FSBuild2. I am pointing to the AS2 direction but nothing imports ... any ideas on what I might be missing?-michael
January 13, 200422 yr I also got cloud suddenly disappearing KSEA - KSFO @ 130800. Using all settings as recommended here... TAF processing turned on.Bryn Battersby. Streaming at twitch.tv/brynmwr
January 13, 200422 yr hi damian, first, thanks for reply and your countless support during this stage..i really appreciate this great support! with all those reports i would probably :-hang myself sooner or later if i were in your position... ;-) now back to business:"Sounds like you climbed above the visibility ceiling. This is normal. You broke out of the restricted visibility and clouds... Can you confirm?"yes, confirmed. i had a nice grey upper vis ceiling with reduced vis below..looked really great! then, out of a sudden, i had nice blue sky with more or less unlimited vis and broken clouds below...for my taste, the transition was way to quick. i remember a post here, were someone suggested to activate special vis settings in fsuipc..this worked pretty well."That isn't right.. that should never happen. Do you have local suppression ON and set appropriately? Are you using SquawkBox?"yes, local supression was ON and et as suggested. no, not using squawkbox at all at the moment. it was really strange, maybe because i was playing with global write on/off during the flight?!"Sure sounds like squawkbox without the appropriate "Ignore real world wx" option set. Sounds like weather is conflicting. If not, please supply more detail if you encounter this again, and screenshots would be much appreciated. This should definitely NOT be happening!"SB is/was OFF. i had also the impression of conflicting weather, but couldn't identify the source. AS2004 METAR definitly not reported clear skies and calm winds. anyhow, as i said before, i'm pretty sure that my settings are/were somehow conflicting. will try another flight this evening and see how it works (with screenshots! :-))i just want to be sure, that all wind, vis, baro, etc settings in fsuipc should be unchecked.cheers, harald heidinger/loww
January 13, 200422 yr Dear ActiveSky Team!Congratulations on the development of this wonderul addon: I've been enoying it very much. While I did not really encounter serious problems, I did get alot of the fast wind changes, (even though FSUIPC is registered and set to smooth them) and sudden changes in the clouds: but these have never made me feel this program hasn't lived up to the expectations I put forth: it most certainly has! So let this stand as a word of gratitude to you all for this wonderful software, and all the best for the continued development. Now here's what I'd like to "report": :)I fired up my FS2004 this afternoon to complete a flight out of Milan Malpensa (LIMC). Parked on the ramp with my 737, I've loaded AS2004 - as usual - and entered my flight routing in it for processing. Now when I return to FS2004 - after AS2004 reports having updated the weather via writing to FSUIPC, etc. - I dont see any change in the weather at Milan. And the next thing I know, the sky turns cloudy with a broken coverage, and the weather is what it should be like in Budapest (my destination). I've restarted AS2004 several times since, and always get the same result: the weather at LIMC is updated according to the METAR of LHBP... If I don't fill out the route data, the weather is correctly loaded for LIMC (but takes a longer time than usual: this I also dont know why). Can you enlighten me to the reasons behind this strange behaviour on my system? Perhaps I might have some settings wrong. For the record I've got FS2004 with AS2004 Alpha 2 and FSUIPC 3.135 registered. Thanks alot in advance for any help!Greetings,Zoltan Hegedus
January 13, 200422 yr you can check the following thread:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...=7219&mode=fullcheers,harald
January 13, 200422 yr well, i'm not 100% sure anymore, but think so.I'll give another try tonight!cheers, harald
January 13, 200422 yr Thanks for the info: while the symptoms are identical, my flight was well over 200 nm (LIMC-LHBP) also having Global writes On or Off did not solve the problem.Regards,Zoltan Hegedus
January 13, 200422 yr Author Commercial Member Thanks for the reports folks..I am working on this issue... either a bug or unplanned effect in FS9 due to the new route processes in the update.. either way we will get it sorted out. Thanks again!Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
January 13, 200422 yr Hi DamianI can also confirm this issue.Did a flight from OJAI-LFPG about 1860nm 5 hour flight.Besides that my departure weather was that of LFPG after I prossesed and loaded my flightplan into AS2004 everything went very smooth. When weather was send to FS before FP was prossesed by AS2004 the weather was depicted correctly at OJAI.So definetely a little bug that slipped in.Kind RegardsJannier Regards Jannie Roelofse Flight1 Software Project Manager
January 13, 200422 yr hello again AS team, just completed a flight from LOWW to EDDM - took all important pictures,(which you can find in the below zip file(1,5mb) http://members.chello.at/heidinger/fsscreen.zipsome comments:fsuipc was set to minimum weather default as well as clear weather (technical tab has been changed) before starting AS2004pic 1,3: AS2004 settingspic 4,5,6: climb out - very nice cloud and color formations!pic 7,9: vis changes (sudden) and above cloudspic 10,11,12: cockpit views and clouds building up at the distance, which is correct according to METAR from EDDMPROBLEM PIC's:pic 13,14,15: though clouds building up correctly at the distance (pic 13), all clouds disappeared around my aircraft over Linz (LOWL)suddenly (pic 14 and 15) - pic 15 shows above Linz airport (LOWL) clear skies, although according to METAR should be SCT and BKN (pic 16) - in addition, the METAR station name LOLW (never heard...seems a typo?) seems to be wrong - should be LOWL ??!!pic 17,18,19 and 24: flight continues with out any cloud pop ups or sudden wind changes. this was by far one of my smoothest flight with AS2004!! great gusting winds during approach!hope this helps!cheers, harald heidinger / loww
January 13, 200422 yr Commercial Member I can confirm the suddenly disapearing clouds as well - flew a short hop from KGRR to KDTW and approaching DTW a whole bunch of clouds around me (it was overcast with snow) suddenly disapeared within an instant, leaving only a few there. Looked very odd. Then, as I was coming in to land, the visibility suddenly got a LOT lower, even though an instant before I could see the airport fine. Might just be FS9's vis layers, but still it looked wierd... Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
