Hello all,AS2004 owners are invited to beta test MR2. Several fixes and enhancements have been made as described below. Remember, this is a non-official beta version. Please keep your original install files in case you need to go back for any reason. The Beta update can be installed over the top of your existing installation. Those with MR1 already installed can skip the ActiveRadar v1.1 update processes (which runs at the end of the update install). We'd love to hear your results, positive or negative! Please use this thread.Download link: http://www.hifisim.com/as2004MR2-12updateRC.zip(Link will be updated as new RC versions become available)Revision Log:- Added full FSFlightMax v1.4r integration for AS2004 use with this freeware Radar/GPS Mapping software. When using FSFlightMax, follow the important instructions available in the in ActiveSky-FSFlightMax_Integration.pdf included in the FSFlightMax installation folder.- When TAF processing was enabled, ActiveRadar could misinterpret the METAR information and display invalid data / radar returns. Fixed.- Extended length of time that AS2004 waits for FS9 to load/reload before writing wx. Previously, a lengthy FS9 load could cause AS2004 to give up and present invalid current/departure wx conditions.- Fixed problem with interpolation in areas with very few stations (less than 5 in a 300nm radius - such as near YBBN), which could cause wx consistency/precipitation problems.- Added warning message: NORMAL DEFAULTS button causes ONLINE UPDATES to be turned off, so it must be manually re-enabled after loading defaults (if live downloads are desired).- Fixed upper level temperature problem with route-based wind smoothing- Added automatic .PLN convert to FS9 format option, to automatically convert to proper ActiveRadar-compatible .PLN data as soon as the flight plan is loaded via the NEW ROUTE/IMPORT processes. This prevents the user from having to load and re-save the .PLN in FS9 with 3rd-party flight plan generators.- Added new experimental METAR data support (//// CLD:) used in certain areas (YBCG, for example) to enable proper cloud and visibility depiction.

Hi Damien,Thanks for the update, I'm downloading it now and will give it a try when I get home.I reading the revision list and I must admit to being a little disappointed that there is no mention of improvements to the wind smoothing. Has development in this area gone as far as it can go? I have followed the posts/instructions to the letter with respect to AS2004/FSUIPC settings. I still get some wild wind shifts on occaision. AS2004 is definately an improvement over the default weather though! Thanks,

Hi,If have installed MR2 Beta.I have a problem with the automatic .PLN convert:1. I made flightplan with FSB22. I started FS9 3. I started AS2004 MR2 beta, load flightplan (automatic convert aktivated4. I started FSFK2 (FlightKeeper 2.0)and here is the problem: i can not open the AS2004 converted flightplan in FSFK2. (FS9 and FSB2 can be loaded correct)I was searching for the reason and i found an entry in FS9-PLN which says: "AppVersion=9.0.30612" (second line in .PLN first="[flightplan]")After adding this line in the AS2004 converted .PLN -> FSFK2 can load the .PLN)Thomas

Hi Damian or Jim, are there any notations in the log file which gives upper altitude winds?..All I see are the local staion temps and conditions. Could the temp aloft be tied to the disable upper layer generation???...I have that off in the options. The temps last evening at FL350 were reported by the nav log as an average of -45C. The coldest I saw on the MFD TAT was -21C. Other than a little turbulance...the flight and weather was uneventful. I like the auto .pln conversion...nice touch..:D .......please let me know if you need to see the .ini or .log file.....don't want to post them if not needed. Thanks for the GREAT Support!!!!Paul M."Big Sky---Little Bullet"---For All Other Impediments There's TCAShttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg

Hi,If the FSB2 .PLN was loaded and saved with FS9, there are no changes after then conversation with AS2004.(FS9 .PLN = AS2004 converted .PLN)But the problem is, when you convert a FSB2 .PLN (without previous saving with FS9)I do not know the .PLN format of FSB2 (maybe FS2002 format), but FS9 and FSFK2 can read the .PLN correct.In FSB2 there is NO entry "AppVersion=9.0.30612".So i guess, that a FS9 .PLN must have a "AppVersion=9.0.30612" entry to specify the format or FSFK2 need it!?But have a look on the three different .PLNHere are some lines:********** FSB2 .PLN original: [flightplan]title=EDDT to LEPAdescription=EDDT, LEPAtype=IFRroutetype=3cruising_altitude=26000departure_id=EDDT, N52* 33.37', E013* 17.31',+000121.00departure_position=26Ldestination_id=LEPA, N39* 33.06', E002* 44.19',+000032.00departure_name=BERLIN_TEGELdestination_name=PALMA_DE_MALLORCAwaypoint.0=EDDT, A, N52* 33.37', E013* 17.31', +000000.00, waypoint.1=PENEK, I, N52* 23.45', E012* 38.48', +000000.00, UN746waypoint.2=BUROK, I, N52* 04.35', E012* 20.33', +000000.00, UN746waypoint.3=DESAR, I, N51* 38.24', E012* 02.34', +000000.00, UN858...waypoint.37=LUNIK, I, N40* 26.23', E003* 23.33', +000000.00, UL129waypoint.38=POS, V, N39* 55.38', E003* 06.52', +000000.00, waypoint.39=LEPA, A, N39* 33.06', E002* 44.19', +000000.00, ********** FSB2 .PLN saved with FS9:[flightplan]AppVersion=9.0.30612title=EDDT to LEPAdescription=EDDT, LEPAtype=IFRroutetype=3cruising_altitude=26000departure_id=EDDT, N52* 33.37', E13* 17.31', +000121.00departure_position=26Ldestination_id=LEPA, N39* 33.06', E2* 44.19', +000032.00departure_name=BERLIN_TEGELdestination_name=PALMA_DE_MALLORCAwaypoint.0=, EDDT, , EDDT, A, N52* 33.37', E13* 17.31', +000000.00, waypoint.1=, , , PENEK, I, N52* 23.45', E12* 38.48', +000000.00, UN746waypoint.2=, , , BUROK, I, N52* 4.35', E12* 20.33', +000000.00, UN746waypoint.3=, , , DESAR, I, N51* 38.24', E12* 2.34', +000000.00, UN858...waypoint.37=, , , LUNIK, I, N40* 26.23', E3* 23.33', +000000.00, UL129waypoint.38=, , , POS, V, N39* 55.38', E3* 6.52', +000000.00, waypoint.39=, LEPA, , LEPA, A, N39* 33.06', E2* 44.19', +000000.00, ********** FSB2 .PLN converted with AS2004[flightplan]title=EDDT to LEPAdescription=EDDT, LEPAtype=IFRroutetype=3cruising_altitude=26000departure_id=EDDT, N52* 33.37', E013* 17.31',+000121.00departure_position=26Ldestination_id=LEPA, N39* 33.06', E002* 44.19',+000032.00departure_name=BERLIN_TEGELdestination_name=PALMA_DE_MALLORCAwaypoint.0= , EDDT, , EDDT, A, N52* 33.37', E013* 17.31', +000000.00, waypoint.1= , PENEK, , PENEK, I, N52* 23.45', E012* 38.48', +000000.00, UN746waypoint.2= , BUROK, , BUROK, I, N52* 04.35', E012* 20.33', +000000.00, UN746waypoint.3= , DESAR, , DESAR, I, N51* 38.24', E012* 02.34', +000000.00, UN858...waypoint.37= , LUNIK, , LUNIK, I, N40* 26.23', E003* 23.33', +000000.00, UL129waypoint.38= , POS, , POS, V, N39* 55.38', E003* 06.52', +000000.00, waypoint.39= , LEPA, , LEPA, A, N39* 33.06', E002* 44.19', +000000.00, Thomas

Hi Paul,All winds and temps are downloaded and are part of the current_wx_snapshot.txt file. Remember that the temps in the log are if you were at rest. Flying produces a slightly warmer temp. just as you saw. Slow that plane near stall speed and your -21 would have gotten lower.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Hi GuysOk here is another problem with the convertion function.I created a Flight Plan with FSNavigator, and exported it to FS9 folder, then loaded it into AS2004, which did the convertion. After that I could not load the FP into the PSS Airbus FMS, when i tried it, it crahed FS9.Also trying to laod the FP into FS9 GPS had no effect, nothing showed up.I had to redo the FP in FSNavigator, then load it into the PSS FMS then load it into AS2004.Seems that when a FP is created by a 3 party product and converted by AS2004 , it renders the FP useless for FS2004 and Add-on planes/FMS.Just an observationRegardsJannier

Hi Jim,YES! FSFK2 can read a FSB2 flightplan! The big different i see in the waypoints:There are 3 more "," after "waypoint.x=" in the FS9-plan.So i think, that a FS9 pln MUST HAVE the "AppVersion=9.0.30612" entry!?But please try it yourself:In the attachment is the hole flightplan from FSB2 i use for my tests.Make a .PLN file -> convert it with AS2004 an try to open in FS9 flightplanner - I tried this many times andsaw, that i can not open the converted pln in fs9 (and also not in FSFK2)Next add the "AppVersion=9.0.30612" entry to your converted pln -> open it in FS9 -> now FS9 can read the pln!(and FSFK2 also)Make as FS9.pln from the FSB2 pln and look for the differents between your converted pln!!!!!!!!!!!! ATTENTION!! For each test (when i was editing the flightplan-file) i had to RESTART FS9 !!!!!!!!!!Here again i think the big different will be the waypointsand with that the need of the "AppVersion=9.0.30612" entry !!!Hope this info can help, else i always try to help youandThanks for your supports!!!Thomashttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/78401.txt

So far the only problem I'm having is getting fltmax to show echo returns. I believe I have everything setup correctly in flt max. My question is where is the option to use fltmax in the AS2004 options menu? Or is it needed at all. I'm running fltmax and AS2004 over fswide connection. Weather radar echos do show. But nothing on fltmax.Bill M//AS2004 configuration file[General]WindowPosX = 9840WindowPosY = 9120DefaultWeatherFolder = C:ModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeiling = 2000SurfaceWindLimit = 10CloudLayerLimit = 5LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 50IncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueForceDestinationWeatherZone = FalsePreventIcing = FalseOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseGlobalWrites = FalseVoicePlayback = FalseLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueRouteWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueCCWindsFix = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = -7TAFProcessing = FalseEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = FalseStartPaused = TrueUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONE[Registration]Userid=Key=CRC=640[Orientation]Map=2Lightning=2Radar=1Traffic=2Charts=3[Ranges]Map=3Lightning=4Radar=7Traffic=6Charts=26[Charts]RangeRing=1KnobFunction=1ChartTracking=1DelayedTopDownUpdateRate=0Filter=0Quantize=1[Map]MapLevel=1KnobLevel=1WxLevel=2DeclutterLevel=1DrawCompass=1RadarActive=1TrafficActive=1LightningActive=1LightningMasterOn=1DrawRunways=0[Traffic]Extent=0[Radar]TiltValue=8.5ModeIndex=1Stabilizer=0Azimuths=0BeamAltitudes=1BigBeamWidth=1EchoWarnings=1[Lightning]LightningRangeIndex=0LightningStrikeFlash=0LightningCellMode=1[DataBlocks]Block1Visible=1Block2Visible=11=112=83=74=95=16=37=48=1[AirportFilter]Towered=1NonTowered=0Hard=1Soft=0Water=0MinRunwayLength=2500MinRunwayLengthIdx=8[LightningEffects]LargestNumberStrikes=8LargestDelay=12MinStrikeSize=100MaxStrikeSize=300StrikeFlashSize=400StormscopeRange=100[LocalWeatherEffects]CoverageMultiplier=1LocalStationRadiusNM=35[FSMeteo]FSMeteoActive=0FSMeteoDirectory=C:ModulesActiveSky2004[ActiveSky]ActiveSkyActive=1[sizePosition]X=1Y=1W=673[Miscellaneous]RadiusNavaid=400RadiusWeather=400UpdateRate=1500UseInternet=1TerrainInFeet=1RequirePowerSource=0TieSounds=1ChartsDirectory=W:Sim Charts[iniEditor]UseSkins=1LastSkin=unfinalfantasy.ksknDayImage=dayNightImage=nightLastSkinName=Unfinal Fantasy[Network]FSDirectory=W:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9[NavMapSettings]100=Off103=Auto106=Auto109=Auto112=Off115=Off118=Off121=Off124=Off127=Off114=6117=6120=5123=5126=5129=6108=3111=3102=6105=3101=0104=1107=1110=1113=0116=0119=0122=0125=0128=0

Hi All With Flight Plan Problems,I tried everything I could and got nothing to work. I am going to point Damian to this part of the thread so that he can take a look. Thanks everyone, we don't want to release this until major things are worked out!! That's why it is important that users post their findings. When done properly, it REALLY helps us out.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
