March 22, 200620 yr After downloading and installed SU4 beta, I noticed a serious problem.Active Sky will download data on schedule, but it will freeze at the Decypting Data to DISK screen. When I minimize FS2004 is when it starts processing and writing stations. If FS2004 is maximized and running as the main window, the update will lock up at this stage. Also, when FS2004 is minimized, the writing station data operation goes much faster.I can not leave AS6 unattended anymore as it will be frozen on the same weather data if I don't minimize FS2004 long enough to get through the decryption phase.AMD64 XP3500+2 GIG PC3200 Corsair XMS memory.
March 22, 200620 yr Hello,I also found that the initial weather load takes more (3 x) time and the clouds are generated when I have alredy taken off .See my answer in the initial SU4 topic. March 22, 200620 yr Author The poblem is not the initial load but the writing and decrypting stage of an update while in flight. AS6 freezes at this point if I don't minimize FS2004. It'll hold there for hours causing no update to be applied.
March 22, 200620 yr I've seen precisely the same thing with SU4. You need not be in flight - in my case this happened while I was sitting on the tarmac and setting things up.DJ
March 22, 200620 yr I am having the same issue unfortunately. I timed it and AS6 sat at the 'decrypting' stage for 13 minutes when minimized. I then minimized FS and AS6 moved on to the next operation after about 60 seconds. I thought it might be the PMDG 747F, since it is very resource hungry, but it seems to happen with most aircraft (more testing needed). Thanks again to the team for a great product though, I'm sure you'll get it sorted.
March 22, 200620 yr I just tested for this issue here and can report that I am not having this problem. I let it run throught at least two full updates of the weather and it never hung at all. This is with FS in full screen mode. Dave Paige
March 22, 200620 yr Author I run FS in Windowed mode. Give it a try in window mode and you might be able to replicate it.
March 22, 200620 yr I think that is the key - I have only seen this (consistantly) when FS is in windowed mode. In full screen, all seems to behave normally.DJ
March 22, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi all,Thanks for the reports. We're looking into this..Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
