Desperate help needed from nVidia users

I just bought an nVidia/BFG GeForce 6200 OC tonight since it was the best AGP card I could find to run on a 250w power supply. My power supply isn't easy to replace from outside vendors since it's a few years older Dell. Tried tonight.Anyway, I get the card home, completely uninstall all my ATI drivers, install the card, and install the newest drivers I could find from nVidia. Make the appropriate chance to the FS9 cfg, fire up FS9, and have had nothing but trouble so far. When the opening screen starts where it show aircraft, location, weather, and time, the little plane in the middle of the screen is not there. Just a blank black box with nothing inside. I have fiddled with the AA and AS setting for hours, among other setting and can't seem to get FS9 to display correctly. I can make a flight and go fly, but sometimes depending on the setting the whole screen turns green and with lines going horizontally through it. I can't escape this screen so I have to turn of the computer and start over. Needless to say I am very frustrated and want to take the card back, but I need to see what other nVidia users are setting their cards at or what drivers they use, before I return the card and go back to my Radion 9700.Attached are a couple of screen shots of the settings menu. Not sure what all the setting mean in relation to FS9. Maybe that's why I am having all the weird displays. Anyway, I would greatly appreciate any help that you all can give with experience with this card or a card that is similar. My computer specs are below.Dell P4 2.531.5 gigs RamGeForce 6200 OChttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/169653.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/169654.jpgI posted to pages because vertical sync was cut off the bottom of the first screen print. As you can see there are a lot of settings on the menu that I am not familiar with. Like triple buffering and negative LOD buffering. Perhaps there are some settings in here that FS9 is allergic to.Thanks in advance.Sean

Hi,I don't have an NVidia card but one of my friends does.He also had troubles with the black screen in the aircraft selection window. That was/is caused by a (too) high AA setting. He had AA8 selected, but had to go back to AA4 (driver setting, not in FS). I'm a bit puzzled though that you even have a black screen with AA2...I suppose you already have AA disabled and filtering set to tripple in FS9?Maybe try the omega drivers instead of the stock NVidia ones:http://www.omegadrivers.net/EDIT:Also you may want to download RIVA tuner instead of using the NVidia control center:http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=163

Have you connected up the new card correctly?I have the 6600Nvidea (incidentally i only have a 250watt power supply and have had no problems at all)My old Radeon 9200 just plugged in and of you went ,but the new 6600 has an extra plug at the rear of the card which in my haste i overlooked and the card would just not work, once that was sorted and plugged in the card was fine.Sorry not sure what this four point adaptor is called but i expect somebody here will tell you.Hope this is of some help.cheers Andy

I would try an little older driver, One other problem I had with nvidia cards is the black screen were you choose the airplane. Make sure when you start FS9, that you are NOT in full screen mode. You must be in window mode. Before messing with the drivers, try this first. Bob

I have a 6800GS and have been experiencing similar problemwith the aircraft selection display. Because of an FSNavigator problem I am having, I posted on this very forum but also decided to follow the advice given to you by Egbert and downloaded the Omega drivers v1.6693, removed the latest Nvidia drivers and then used DriverCleaner, installed the Omegas and hey presto! no more display problems and also FSNavigator problem gone! Drivers also come withan FS9 profile you can load and tweak. Make sure you tick AdvancedSettings.I guess you could give that a try. Here are my working settingswhich I always alter via the Classic Settings Interface.AA - 8xSAF - 16xSys Performance - QualityVertical Sync - OnForce mipmaps - TrilenearTrileniar optimization - On (not relevant to FS9)Anisotropic sample optimization - OnGood luck and let us know how you get on.Thanks also to Egbert

Thanks for all the replies. I will give those other drivers a try and see what happens then report back here. I never had an nVidia card before and was not as familiar with all the extra setting it had. All I have ever had was an Ati card. Oh, an it is installed correctly. There is no power plug on it to install like most other cards.Sean

I recently installed a 6600 AGP card and it didn't like the 81.98s (newest for Windows 98 SE) or 77.72s. Switched to 71.84s and they did the trick.
