Yes, Guy is an old college buddy of mine from Georgia Tech. We used to run a long null modem cable from my room down to his in the dorms to play Falcon 3.0 back in the day!I'm glad to see you're going to join us man. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did last year!Oh, Guy has his private license as well and is instrument rated I believe (aren't you ???)

I am very much looking forward to this year's event. I followed last year's event step by step and Google too. If there is some way that I can participate and contribute to the success of the team then that would absolutely make my day-week-month, etc. To that end, I started flying with the Duenna on each flight. I think I can do that just fine - easy to say when there is no pressure. Cheers!Grahamgmark@kmgy

Welcome to the team Graham! Glad you decided to join in the adventure.Since you are already using the Duenna I'd like to invite you to fly an offline practice leg. Current practice legs are here:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...g_id=5237&page=Just pickup where the last pilot left the baton. The route of flight is in the first post. You should register at the private race forum for more help and for more information about on-line multiplayer flying and teamspeak.Jeff Williams (KDCA)

Jeff,As you know i have been joining the practice sessions.Cool ...... I am hooked. After reading your reply I registered in the private forum.Trying to PM StoneC0ld, I got the message that his AVSIM account was disabled ?????Jock EKCH/EKYT

Jock Hartvig Andersen,

EKCH, EKAT

Gotcha................... :) :) :)BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH

Hmmmm that's strange.... Can anyone else send or not send me PM's on these forums?Edit: He's activated and added to the avsim group now...Edit again: Ok, perhaps he tried to send email rather than PM within the forum... Emails were disabled, but PM within the forum itself should have worked.. Whether or not I keep it that way, I'll enable the email function at least until after the race so there's no further delays because of this reason... :)

Jock Hartvig Andersen,

Checking in. Life has been too nuts up until now to join practice but I'm all setup now with the pony in fsx and ready to practice.Speed

Greetings:After some rigamaroo I finally got in here LOL.As I noted in the pvt forum I have over 200+ hours of flight sim on Vatsim and 40+ real; although I havnt simmed high perf aircraft; guess I shud look into it!I have a couple good programs such as super fliteplanner etc and will look at your routes; I am thinking you have all figures the prevailing winds into this but I am just tryin this for fun.I also looked at the past data; came up with 375 knots for a max speed to fly for 2 hours with no penalties; an wow guess you are all not too far off.You aso probly have the best aircraft so what are they? Looked like a P51 with drop tanks. Would it be better to to leave the tanks out and make an extra landing? Just wondering how the drop tanks are figured in unless they are just done so in the sim an not the model as well.Guess this is real world weather too !Lot of weather planning I can see here !I like the idea of hugging the mountains; hopefully not at night unless we use GPS is that permitted?Well gtg - cant wait to practice.I signed up on the pvt forum; same call.Windryder

Hi AgainWhat aircraft are we using and must they be pre-approved?Also is there a private server everyone is flying on or do we just fly a route on our own using the rules? Thanks!WindRyder

Hi and welcome :)You can use any aircraft that you want that comply with the rules. So basically any turboprop with a maximum of two engines, or any piston prop with any number of engines. Usually the planes used are WWII warbirds, most used of those I think are the P51 and P38, and also quick turboprops like the Avanti. There are some aircraft that are not permitted for use, those are listed in the rules I think, at least they were last year. There is server information in the private forum, have you sent StoneCold a PM on this forum requesting access to the private parts? We are using TeamSpeak to talk to each other, and flying on an FSHost server, so if you're using FSX you will need to download FSHostClient. You can find it at http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/fshost/The GPS is permitted, we usually fly direct GPS routes between the airports.Klas

Ok thanks for the info.I have used FSHost before as well, and TS.Can you PM me the TS info or do I need to get that from Stonecold here?I tried to get on the private forum just now and didnt seem to make it for some reason.Got my FS2004 goin last nite; I have tons of aircraft but not alot of knowledge of high performance aircraft. It'd be fun for me to check this out.I flew on BOTA a few years back (I think thats what it was called). They had us fly into space and onto the moon; it was very challenging for me and difficult, having to fly different aircraft from what I was used to and the aircraft were all used by the same people. That's what I was wondering if they will enforce or have a particular download listing for approved aircraft. The problem is that many models exceed specs; but many are pretty realistic now as well, and it will be interesting to fly in more realism on the Flite Sim this time. What about the use of AI is AI turned off or set to max; any info on that? Will there be a set of guidelines as far as where we can fly exactly; you would think there would be some bending of the 'real-world' aviation rules as long as you didnt think you would get caught by an efficient ATC operator! Will there be ATC etc?Well I talk too much; I miss flying but I have other activities now and have pretty much rounded out my life so I am content.I bet someday I will go up in a Piper and be PIC once more for the good times though; someday!WR
