September 26, 200817 yr I just bought the above "map" and it gives some good info. I exspecially like it when it gives you the time at departure and the time at the destination. (check the timezone differances, if any). It gives the info in METRIC and then in ENGLISH. Anyone know of a way to make it JUST give the info in ENGLISH and NOT display it also in METRIC? Thanks jerrycwo4
September 26, 200817 yr Why would you want to? In all the flights I've been on, the IFE systems show both metric and imperial units in alternating screens. It goes through a cycle of metric, then a cycle of imperial. From what I can see, MAP is a gauge, so the function is coded in the gauge.Devin Devin CYOW
September 27, 200817 yr Are you the same person who posted this over on the FsPassengers Board too? Frankly, I just think this is a bit overpriced at 19.95 for what it does. Smooth Skies! -- Chuck B. September 27, 200817 yr my experience is the same as devin's, that every real-world aircraft having a 'map type display' shows both kilometers and miles -http://forum.iemit.com/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=1560-- D. September 28, 200817 yr I don't really understand the use of this product, especially when most of the info is already available through the FMC progress page. I admit it's a handy little tool to have it all in one place and presented pictorially, but frankly I think it should be a freeware tool. I certainly won't be paying 20$ for it.
September 29, 200817 yr i for one always wanted a tool like this, its like having wing views, you can pretend to be a passenger and now being a passenger is even more fun with this MAP, its like you are in a real plane sitting like a passenger. I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
September 29, 200817 yr Author Why would I want to? Because the info in metric means nothing to me. My brain does not compute in metric. I have to wait until the english part comes around to really understand the info. The metric might as well be in Greek and I don't understand Greek either. jerrycwo4
September 29, 200817 yr Author Chuck are you balking at the price of $19.95? You cannt take a family of two the Burger King for that price. I concider something connected to Flight Sims at a cost of $19.95 to be FREE. Just my opinion. jerrycwo4
September 29, 200817 yr Personally I use FSEarth which runs within GoogleEarth and allows you to zoom in and out, tilt your views up and down, see all of your AI in GoogleEarth and provides all the same info, heading, Airspeed, Altitude for both you and your AI... Oh yeah, you can run it networked without WideFS too!!!IMHO the two can't be compared...-PaulPrimary RigLiquid CooledIntel C2D E8500 468X9.5 @ 4.45Asus Maximus Extreme2 gigs OCZ Reaper DDR3 @1400Dual OC'd XFX 8800GTX @ 2 gigsDual VelociRaptor 10k 3gb/s RAID-0Dual WD Caviar 500 gig Raid-0Single 150Gig SATA2 Swap Drive28 inch LCD 16XAA/16XAFDual 19 inch LCD'sPCPower and Cooling 1k Quad SLISaitek Yoke, Saitek Rudders, Go-Flight Flap,Gear and Trim Controlhttp://home.comcast.net/~psolk/3monitorsa.htmlBackup RigsIntel E6600 @ 3.2Asus P5N32E-SLI Plus3 Gigs Kingston Hyper XXFX 8600 GTAMD 4000 San Diego @ 2.72 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2XFX 7900 GTX Raid-0 Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
October 2, 200817 yr >I have to wait until the english part comes around to really understand>the info. You mean the American part surely? We in the UK understand metric and use it widely. :-) Iain Smith
