Excellent Job! Next they should make a special switch in all aircraft for which both pilots have a special key to operate. A switch which ejects all engines from a aircraft in case they are severely damaged. Making it possible to see more of such surviving ditches in the future. There is already a provision for that. Why do you think that the engines are on the bottom of the Hudson. The engine mountings are designed to fail when the engine causes a lot of vibration or when they are stressed in uncommon (no thrust) directions.

The only other jetliner ditching as far as I know was a 767 that was hijacked and forced to stay airborne till it ran out of fuel. There were fatalities, so guess that is why this was the first "successful" ditching of a jetliner. I am glad things worked out this time.Donald T.
