Altering Trim in 2D Cockpit.

Recommended Posts

I bring the Thrust panel up but am unable to alter the Trim settings by mouse. In the AoA DVD he manages to alter trim, so am wondering why I can't. Also the Capt on AoA right clicks on the SPD button on the MCP and a Push Back settings box appears. I do not have this either.

I sure have, thanks for the reminder. It is the 744. I bring up the 2D panel but cannot adjust the Trim as per the FMC settings. Thanks for any help.

You need hydraulic power available. Does trim work with VC view, keyboard keys (number pad 7 and 1 not in number lock) or game controller?

I personally do not use the VC as I have 6 monitors for all my views. It seems strange that you cannot mouse click to adjust the trim on the 2D thrust panel. If I adjust the trim with the keyboard, is the changed trim setting viewable anywhere as I cannot make it out on the 2D panel. Basically I have no idea what the trim setting is because I cannot view it. Thanks so far.

I will assign my yoke to set trim, good idea, thanks. However, and it must be an anomoly with multi monitors, I cannot see the trim value. I have tried my mouse cursor everywhere around the trim area but nothing. Thanks.

Do you get any tool tips at all? If not make sure you have them turned on in the FSX options, sorry I cant remember where exactly the option is but its probably in the aircraft section somewhere.

Cheers, Andy.

----------Keith- The 747 Trim Indicator is hard to see unless you have lighting switched on for the Throttle Panel. Also as far as I know there is no mouse control over trim- only via keyboard and/or Yoke switch. In Assignments/Control Surface Commands/Elevator Trim Up/Down- I use the CH yoke Fore/Aft Rocker switch for this function. (Button 9=Down, 10= Up) Works well with thumb while still grasping left yoke horn. The attached screenie shows the Throttle Panel- far right and on its left side is the trim indicator with lighting- the (yellowish) white vertical bar is the indicator, green band (hard to see in this pic) is normal range of trim.So yes, it does work with multi mons!Alex ReidPMDG 747 Night departure at CYYJ R27

Many thanks Andy and Alex. Tooltips? I never thought of that, I will have to turn that feature on and see if that does the job. I will also try the lighting option.
